    I have to say that the Saints at the end of SR1 have THE BEST DRIP in the franchise. Look at the SR1 good ending, in the church they had purple and pink scarfs and bandanas and gold chains and white shell toed adidas on. It really captured that mid 2000s dress style vibe. Also on a deeper level I feel they become bigger versions of the Vice Kings. And one thing that I believe helped the Saints prevail through the first 2 games is their Strength in Numbers philosophy. Notice the VKs mostly had black and white dudes and gals, Carnales had mostly Hispanic and a bit white, Rollerz had mostly white and Asian and the Saints had all racial and ethnic demographics. And most originated from the Row. I also find it interesting the King stated “it’s a shame Julius got to you first” knowing he’d gladly choose a disciple for the Kings who actually listens and knows when to be quiet, unlike Warren. Makes me wonder about the storyline if the VK member had recruited you instead of trying to kill you in the intro cutscene shootout.

    • @tonynasaofficial
      @tonynasaofficial 3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Actually the rollers where more Italian whites and asians and the carnales where Hispanic mostly but the white dudes you speak of where the Columbians which are white Hispanics but the carnales are mostly mestizo but yeah also in the brotherhood there are all ethnicities in the gang so idk I guess in the second one the gangs became more diverse except the ronin which was mostly asians and maybe whites cause I swear some of them looked Caucasian but maybe they dyed their hair lmao also all civilians are randomized character creations btw

      The Vice Kings without Warren and that Tanya would probably be the most moral gang in Saints Row history. They didn’t push drugs, yeah they had some Criminal money schemes but King was trying to get them to go straight, King’s Grocery and Kingdom Come records. Both being completely legitimate businesses.

      @Jade0603 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stealthSGMB
      Ben King was really the only moral gang leader besides I guess Matt Miller from 3 to a lesser extent but he changed. Problem was a lot of Vice Kings were going against king by kidnapping people and trying to get on the drug trade. There’s also that thing about using people as commodities with all the coerced prostitution. Arguably the Saints are worse morally in SR1 (definitely in SR2), while Julius did want to get rid of the Saints he also went on a criminal adventure of countless things that destroyed lives and none of it worked out because gangs just showed back up.

    Saints Row 2 was the absolute gem of the series. The theme music brings back a ton of damn good memories. My favorite gang when I was younger was the Ronin, primarily because they had katanas and badass outfits, but also because of the terrifying ending of how Gat and the player deal with the Ronin's leader. As for the other two gangs, the Brotherhood was pretty cool and I can't even remember thr name of the green gang even after seeing their name in this video. Still, the green gang had a cool climax mission.
    *Also-* I could never find out how to duel wield katanas like that one dude who you eventually battle. It pissed me off and I still don't know if you can. It's been so long that I may have done it at the time, I just can't remember.
    EDIT- This comment is already really long, but I forgot to add while thinking about it that looking back on it now, the Ronin had a hell of a storyline as well. I'm not done with the video, but I wouldn't be surprised if they are #1.

    I never looked at it all this way! But I need to make my own personal list.
    9) Westside Rollerz. Besides the death of Lin, which remains memorable to me because Zombie Lin is canon, they're just a bunch of wannabe gangsters whose leader is dumb muscle -- literally. And he's a coward for acting like he wanted to fight The Boss, but just runs in a truck while throwing pipe bombs. Oh, and my theory as to the mysterious overseas deal they were going to make: The Syndicate. Maybe they weren't as big during this time, or were just looking for other gangs to add to their organization, I don't know. Sharp and Loren would've probably been good friends, though. Interestingly, Sharp drives a Justice, and a Justice is a gang car of the Morningstar. Without Sharp, eh, this gang isn't much, territory, muscle, and otherwise.
    8) Deckers. I personally didn't find their missions all that fun, but Kinzie and Matt's rivalry is very entertaining, the funniest instance when the Deckers embarrass STAG by overpowering them at their own PR center, and they're arguing over intercom during the fight. They would've been higher on my list if the Saints didn't have the mind of Kinzie. She's the equalizer that makes it more of a breeze. The specialists are an exceptional challenge, and I love throwing Fart in a Jar at them and and shooting them down while they're vomiting. It creates a hilarious outcome.
    7) Luchadores. They made the game feel like some sort of Batman game, and Steelport feel like Gotham, though it's kind of already comparable to Gotham due to its atmosphere and crime. I love Killbane's affinity for Ancient Greece, notable in his dialogue and how the specialists dress. They are fun to mingle with, and their storyline equally so, despite their placement on my list.
    6) Morningstar. I'm gonna be honest, I feel like they've existed since the first game, as mentioned with my theory of the Rollerz possibly making a deal with them. I also think the Brotherhood were dealing with them in their Wardill stronghold, as Shaundi mentions some "scary Eurotrash dudes" they were dealing with, which involved "serious money", her exact words. The Morningstar are not only large, but also known for their greed. Every time I do this stronghold, I search for evidence to confirm the theory, but don't come up with much, as the guys in suits outside the hangar aren't donning the gang's colors, and their vehicles' colors being randomized. They made the game feel like a classic action movie, but with elements you'd see in one of Batman's enemy factions, like the cloning of Oleg.
    5) Ronin. Hard to say their story isn't memorable, because it is. Aisha's actual death, and the fact they're divided, which led to their fall. As I always say, Shogo knew how to run it as an American gang, while his father wanted it to be traditional. This is where his father goofed in trying to go against the Saints; the Saints lack the honor of a more organized faction, notably when The Boss shoots Kazuo after the katana duel. After Aisha's death and Johnny being injured, there was no way they could've escaped the wrath of the Saints. Shogo's death can't go unmentioned either; I like dressing my Boss in a suit and black flasher/trench coat and fedora in this mission to make it all the more gritty. Coupled with Johnny's pinstripe suit, it definitely feels like the Saints are a Mafia at this point. But that's just me.
    4) Sons of Samedi. Also my favorite Saints Row 2 gang! I'm gonna be a hypocrite here and say it's like the Ballas versus Families, due to their colors, of course. What's interesting is that the Saints were originally green, so imagine a crazy reality where the Sons' and Saints' colors were swapped. Anyway, they have the most fun missions and strongholds, and it's never a dull moment. I even like dressing my Boss as Scarface during Bad Trip, because to me, it's very Scarface-like. Through them, magic is also confirmed to exist in this series, the best example being Mr. Sunshine's voodoo doll. And need I really mention how much I love Shaundi? And don't most of us miss when she was like this. She and Boss switched personalities between the second and third game. Partly Johnny's death, but partly... she was kind of always a certain way. But it's a discussion for another time.
    3) Vice Kings. They were around for 30-some years. Although it's not exactly surprising they're as fierce and territorial as any other Saints Row gang, there's just a lot of reasons why I'm ranking them so high. Their style, their story, their main members... all of it just stands out and left a huge impact, not just on me, but Cyrus says they were mentioned when coining STAG. Looking back, I can see why STAG was created, and their presence isn't that strange to me; the Vice Kings were fierce on a whole other level, in addition to Ben King and Julius having history. I can only imagine what a prequel would be like, one set in the '70s when they were new and taking on the Carnales. And I love gawking at their worn-out tags in Saints Row 2, a reminder of their legacy. And gotta love that scene when they all turn on Ben King. When I first played the game, I was shocked. Ben was a true leader and ran the gang kind of like a mob, believing -- knowing, actually -- that true power came from being tight with the police and politicians. Many members didn't like Tanya taking power, which I heard a VK gang girl say in-game. Ben was also left alive, so that was all the more memorable.
    2) Carnales. Older than the Vice Kings, and as Julius said, "there's a reason they're still around", as well as being the first organized gang in Stilwater. Their brutality in the past is the subject of many stories, one that sticks out being the brothers' father. Manuel says that he was no-bullshit, and given Hector's defensiveness, my guess? He was a very bad man, possibly worse than anything we've seen on-screen, and that's saying something. Everything about them sticks out to me -- their style, their tactics, their brute force, and their enforcer Victor. Victor has superhuman durability, more or less confirmed, as he survived his Bulldog explosion with everything intact, notably shocking Julius. And who'll forget that sick, yet hilarious, scene of Troy lighting a cigarette over his burning corpse. I've ranked them so high because of how brutal and territorial they are, making it a very common habit to carry RPGs. I find their missions and strongholds to be stressful for that reason alone.
    1) Brotherhood. They basically splintered from the Carnales, and the proof is solid. They occupy the same territory, Victor and Maero were friends, many Carnales were said to have joined up with the Brotherhood, 'Carnales' means 'brothers', and there's a noticeable cross in the center of the Brotherhood's emblem. I even think that Maero wanted to screw the Saints because they were responsible for Victor's death at a time when they were more of a small-time gang. These facts, their style, and their story are why they win top spot for me. Because I view the Carnales so dangerous, what intrigues me more is that the Brotherhood are basically Carnales 2.0, so any surviving Carnales members that joined the Brotherhood are particularly out for the Saints, explaining why they're so brutal. As Pierce says, what they lack in organization and tactics, they make up for with rage, respect for one another, and brute strength. Maero also seems to display sociopathic tendencies; peds are always telling me "Maero's a really great guy once you get to know him", and to be frank, this is true. Like I said, I think he's only bitter at the Saints over Victor's death, but this and his greed was where he messed up. Carlos' disturbing death made it feel personal too. Oh, and The Ho Boat in Saints Row 3 has the exact same energy as the Brotherhood mission The Enemy of My Enemy, so this is a reminder of their legacy.
    As if this wasn't enough of an essay, I need to make some honorable mentions of side gangs. The pimps in Stilwater in Saints Row 2 are a gang despite not occupying territory. They're in a never-ending battle with the Saints, and attack in very large numbers. I find it frustrating there aren't bonus strongholds to get rid of them, but then again, there'd be nothing fun to do if I couldn't beat the shit out of them during the after hours when they appear. In Saints Row 3, there exists a biker gang and a gang of mascots, though only accessed through survival challenges. The bikers challenge The Boss, and someone calls them about the mascots taking advantage of a sale at Let's Pretend. So make that 12 gangs in the series that you deal with on-screen.

The VK are the ones with all the big story events, the ones with history with the Saints (Julius in particular), and the ones whose end feels the most meaningful.
    I played SR1 over a decade ago and the only missions I remember from the Rollerz and Carnales were the one where you chase down and kill the old guy right after he kills Lin, the one where you chase down and kill Price at the end of the Rollerz storyline, and the one where you blow up the plane at the end of the Carnales storyline.

      @DrCooch 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PharaohTerrellGaming And also the Saints history is completely irrelevant, from a business standpoint the deal is extremely generous and even gives the Saints an opportunity to "dethrone" or at least integrate themselves within the Brotherhood.
      Maero offered them an opportunity that could've led to the benefit of both gangs, or just the Saints given how the boss is, but the boss being as egotistical and arrogant as they are took offense, and went the route of destroying the Brotherhood despite there being a better way to do it, and despite this gruesome, and damaging course of action being completely unnecessary.

    I love the Morningstar cause of the impact they had on the Saints, That from trying to make an unfair deal with the Saints, to seemingly "killing" Johnny, or at least it seemed they did until SR4 revealed what really happened, to this incident being the catalyst that makes the Boss order the rest of the Saints to take over Steelport. Thus this incident leads into the rest of SR3's events causing the downfall of the Syndicate and it's 3 member gangs. Plus I love how sexy the Morningtar chicks are.

    I think your ranking is pretty spot on, though i feel like you saying "the rollerz were in a transition period like the carnales" isnt entirely accurate, the rollerz were the newest gang on the scene, the "deal" was more about them trying to build themselves up, unlike the carnales, who had established themselves long before and are just trying to keep their power, in terms of personal favorites, i think the gangs of SRTT were the weakest of all the games, morning star was my least favorite, luchadores were in the middle, and deckers, while still not a favorite, are the best that particular game had to offer, my favorite of them all was the vice kings, they seemed the most grounded and their story was just a blast to play through, followed by the ronin

    I loved the Luchadores aesthetic. But man after replaying SR3 they feel underdeveloped. Like, in the other gangs I can always kinda feel out what their market is. Samedi run drugs, Ronin illegal gambling, Brotherhood run weapons, Deckers cybercrime, and Morningstar prostitution.
    But I can't really figure out what the Luchadores really do, businesswise. Maybe they do illegal gambling like the Ronin, but it kinda seems like gambling in Steelport is... legal... so I'm not sure what their criminal enterprise is. Whereas with the Ronin you had an illegal casino hidden within a rec center, the Luchador casino seems to be operating quite out in the open.

    I really wish Kiki and Viola DeWinter had their own gang and didn’t just exist to be plot tools. Like Kiki was just there to die/show how crazy Killbane was and Viola was just there to get captured. It’s kinda bullshit.

      From what I have read in some drafts of the script, it seemed that both twins were supposed to defect to the Saints. In some ways, it does make sense for Kiki to get killed off so that Viola has a reason for revenge, but I didn't like the way she was killed off. Plus, we didn't really know much about that character.

    Solid Break Down.
    I immediately knew the Brotherhood would top out at #1. I can agree. It had the thickest plot, and there boss was physically involved the most.
    I was curious one day. So, i activated the cheat code at the end when facing off against Maero on the rooftop, to make myself larger then him, and jump higher to reach where he stands.
    I'll wait until his mini gun runs out of ammo of course, and approach him to see his reaction. Then just start fighting hand to hand, no weapon's.
    I learned that he will actually fight you.
    I also found out that regardless to however giant as my avatar is, Maero is programmed to not be able to be picked up. So the code to make you huge doesn't make you stronger. It's just for aesthetics.
    It's ridiculous to see him manhandle my guy lol. But it's possible to brawl, and take the W in that sense if you're interested. Careful, he can easily kill you with his brute strength.
    I would love to see him and bane go at it 1 on 1, hand to hand. No weapon's. I wonder who would win that match up.

    I've always felt the Saints row 3 gangs were in the wrong order. While personally I'd make the Luchadors something more than just masked wrester gangs, I always felt like you should have to do a bunch of syndicate missions before you even end up going against one of the big 3. It shouldn't be a case of defeat the Morning Star then clean up, they should've been the end goal. From there, we have Matt fall first, but as he's a kid, he's spared. Like even though the boss is super pissed, they see this kids facade break the moment things become too real. From there it's the Luchadors, and while Killbane is fun, as you've said, they're not really memorable. I'd even add that the Luchador you do get, Angel De La Muerte, isn't too memorable himself. Remove the fact that Hulk Hogan voices him, and what is memorable? He's Killbanes rival and that's about it. No, I'd suggest things get mixed up, but still, they're the gang you face second and you do kill Killbane. As for the MorningStar, while you could have the Dewynter sisters storyline play out the same, I'd have a boss fight against them first, but they get away. Killbane kills one, the other switches and they see that Phillipe really doesn't care much about them, now that they've failed. So you do missions for them before you kill Killbane, and that's when the MorningStar missions really kick off, despite you already having done some already.
    Just an idea though

    I preferred the Ronin gang out of all gangs in the franchise
    Because the female Ronin soldier is the sexiest, not the tattoo black jacket ones, the yellow jacket ones
    The bob haircut, the leather jacket, gives off the sexy Japanese tomboy look, especially when she wears the tracksuit pants
    I honestly prefer them over other female gang members in other gangs, she's underrated af
    And I named one of them Suki

    I agree with the number selection of the gangs, due to the Brotherhood from trying to be friendly to the most brutal later on, and it sucks that SR3 didn't have a second in command well besides the Twins from the Morningstar but that said they need to add more characters for a second in command like they did in the first two I hope in the next Saints game they do that. Nothing better than having more story.
