      I just keep an extra drill by my straps. Takes way too long to wind up by hand when you have several to do. Have lots of rolls of electrical tape there too so I tape them up and throw them in a milk crate

    Mine looks more like a tuning fork. It's much easier to remove from a wound up strap and fits 4" straps as well.

    I have a super fast way that would blow your mind. Keeps them straight on the sides of the roll and everything. And it's nearly double as fast as that drill you are using. And no it doesn't take a power tool to do it either.

    Mark the middle of the strap and use the same tool at that point. They have a tool to wind fire hoses similar to this.

    Only problem is you wound it up backwards. You always want to grab the tail end and throw the hook

      Always always always remove the strap from the ratchet. Find any professional flat-bedder and we all do this all the time.

    You should make a "bar" that goes all the way around the socket. Just one solid peice closer to the drill. That way you don't have to use you fingers, you just hold with one hand and gently pull inward to allow it to realign properly.

    If you put a plate under the holder when you start they will roll up more tidy.

    Just put 2 cuts in an old spark plug socket with a metal chop saw & weld adapter to socket so it doesn't pull out. This one pulls out..

    The best thing to do is use the straps once
    Make sure you don’t install them right so the ends flap in the wind behind whatever you’ve strapped down
    Then when your done hauling toss the straps into the back of the pick up or van so others can use for for all types of things they weren’t designed for
    Than when you’re ready to haul something again you can throw a fit on the job site freak out and go to Home Depot and a fresh set of straps
    That’s the circle of life when it comes to tie down straps
    Just accept it and move on

    I literally just now thought of a fast way to wind up ratchet straps. K here goes. you grab a socket you're not using that's big enough to make a slot in, chuck it onto a drill. Then, you take the end of the ratchet strap...

    Actually I prefer folding in half, or at an arm's length fold by fold. But never in a spiral because it's not practical at the time of use, it just ends up all twisted and I use it to go over rather small (although heavy) objects. Besides... my boss won't buy a tool just to do that, lol.

    I just fold the strap in half then half again until it's roughly 30cm long the loop it through the handle and clip it shut.

    5 gallon pail or tote, notch top for hook toss them in and hook hook in top. Put top on pail ot tote.

    Fold in half (with about 3 get extra), fold in half again, then again, then roll, finishing witha few rounds of the single layer to bind. Still throws ok. Who the crap would actually use a drill? Any ways, that's how I do it . Couple of random folds. Too easy. Hope this makes someone's life a little better.

    I normal wrap them fast into footballs and put at least 2 2" ratchet straps on the front of my zoom boom when building windfarms.

      I don’t think that’s wise. You could bust something or hurt someone. Personally the way he did it is better imo and is how I use mine everyday. Hand holds on the hook and throw the slack over the load walk to the other side and ratchet it up. I don’t see how you can think a metal hook that is rather heavy flying in the air is a good idea.. .
