Very cool! Thanks for checking out my part! This is maybe the most difficult section of our entire live set for me, I wrote it way way too hard lol. Great job :)
The man himself! I imagine this is not fun to play live haha. I realized I had the part a little wrong, but close enough. Love videos BTW, I wish I was half as entertaining as you!
Love tech death and Archspire along with many other bands in the genre. Any breakdowns of riffs in tech death is always welcome! Great playing as always Morgan!
I'm older and not a musician so into RUSH, Genesis, ELP etc. but I can start to appreciate the tech behind this stuff. I like the slower (but still fast) melodies which are available from the mainstream bands of old. Jacob's Ladder in 13/8 or alternating 6-8/7-8 however you "feel" it is more my style. Live versions of The Cinema Show are incredibly melodic. But, again, there is no denying the musicianship of the stuff you present here.
Archspire is insane. Can't say I'm a huge fan of this corner of tech death, I'm more into techy prog death like Persefone, Ne Obliviscaris, Obscura, Rivers of Nihil, Black Crown Initiate, etc. but I have enjoyed some Archspire stuff. I love how over the top they are, and they have incredible skill to play at this level. And that you can keep up with that (no matter how clean or not) is super impressive
This kinda music always makes me feel like i'm 17 again spending all my free time playing shreddy bullshit in my room through a cheap marshall amp. good times haha
Super cool riff, thanks for the tutorial! How would you recommend to build up speed? I always seem to hit a ceiling at a certain speed when practising with the metronome...
If you are trying to reach these kind of speeds I would start with simple patterns on one string to help get your hands in sync and then move onto patterns that move across strings.
Nice playing dude, so sick! However I need to point out that this TAB and how you're playing it, is actually incorrect. In the first 2 bars after 10-7-10 on the low A strong the correct way to play the next 2 notes is to play 7-8 on the adjacent E string. Also the very last note at the end of bar 1 and 2 is incorrect, it should be a 10 on the low A string. And likewise in similar way, bars 3 and 4 are also incorrect, they should follow the correct pattern I mentioned for bars 1 and 2. (SOURCE: I own the official TAB book and follow Dean Lamb's content) But that doesnt mean what you played is crazy, because it is!
Thanks for pointing out the errors! I did this by ear while also learning 9 other riffs so I suppose an error was bound to happen haha. The correct way would actually be considerably easier to play now that I look at it. That doesn’t change the theory behind it, so at least this lesson has some merit. I’ll pin your comment so people aren’t led astray by my incorrect tablature!
@@TheProgSchool yeah, this riff is still hard as sht for me , maybe it just comes down to not having enough chops developed. I can play it at 70-75% percent but going faster it breaks apart, specifically when going to the 3rd string. Any tips mechanically with the picking hand? Like for bar one, do you keep your wrist anchored at the same spot or do you move it as you go across 3 strings, for example?
This is impressive but it sounds more like a finger exercise than a song. That’s why it was hard for me to get into animals as leaders. Don’t get me wrong, I love technical music, The Dillinger Escape Plan are one of my all time favorite bands, but there was usually a song in there.
It is over the top for the sake of it. That being said there are sections of Archspire songs that are considerably more musical than this. Tech Death has a specific aesthetic that is definitely not for everyone.

Thanks! I'll probably do some more tech death at some point.
well done sir
Thanks!
Dear Lord, that looks insanely difficult, great video!
It wasn’t easy haha
Cool stuff. Will start listening to Archspire now.
They’ve got some crazy music!

I honestly prefer that myself as well, but sometimes this crazy fast stuff is fun.
Love Arcspire. If you haven't seen them live i highly recommend it. They are awesome and Tobi and Oli handle the merxh booth
I haven’t had a chance to see them live. That would be a fun show!
amazing :)
Thanks!

Yeah I’m more into the prog death stuff myself as well, but sometimes the pure insanity of some tech death is what I need haha
@@TheProgSchool oh absolutely. There's something about that kind of absurd chaos that just hits sometimes

That’s basically correct haha
Just found you, loving your videos. Is the full song only possible on an 8 string guitar?
Thank you! Most of the song can be done on a 7 string

moving slightly. My main focus is on nailing the first note of each string change, as that’s the trickiest part of this.

Yeah, I know what tech is.
I also used to listen to brain drill, and they were friggin RIDICULOUS.
@@johnholmeswebb8162 brain drill is pretty nuts!
Vox by death metal Busta Rhymes!
Correct!
damn dude, is there something you can`t play. So effortless, kind of inspires to practice more. Or should I say, Archspires to practice? lol
Haha. There are plenty of things I can’t play, including this 😆😆
