This episode was so intense seeing Louis and Lestat fight like that was extremely hard to watch I'm loving this show but damn this whole scene was gut punching, I am loving this show and it's gonna be such a bummer when this season is over I want more episodes 😭

I didn't read the books but I did see the movies, I know a lot of people don't like this interpretation but I love everything about it. I like the look of the show. It looks rich, if that makes any sense. I love the casting. I was a bit iffy on Claudia being older, but I love teenage Claudia. And it's practical for a TV show. Lastly, I love the storytelling. They are not afraid to go there. My mouth was hanging open at the end of this episode. Lestat and Louis's fight was btutal. When Lestat dropped Louis and him fall I was shocked. Vampire love is no joke,!
I get what you mean. It looks like AMC put a lot of money into the show and the new approach to the content makes the material fresh. I think they are using a lot of the source material accurately but telling the story through a different lens.
this episode was such a gut punch but the moment that punched me in the stomach was when Claudia said "his love is a box that he traps you in. Let us be vampires worthy of your love." One problem I've always had tin the movie was how little time was spent elaborating on Louis and Claudia's bond but the show does it perfectly.
My only problem with this episode is how the hell didn't Lestat and Louis realize that Claudia was collecting body part trophies from her victims and keeping them in her room. Vampires have heightened sense of smell they should have noticed the smell in the house
Great review and, yeah, this episode was a real doozy. I liked your point about abusive relationships not starting out with punches - there's the initial whirlwind. Also, btw, I recently watched your IWTV book review and your points about how Louis's go-to solution for stress was to burn the place down, you had me howling. I'd never noticed that before and now I cannot unsee, lol. Thanks for that!
i like your prediction. the show seems to diverge from the books in some minor ways. i think louis is writing the book, not to call down his own end, but to get lestat's attention. and then he'll come a knocking. they'll both have some s'plainin to do.

Wait, watching this recap I just realized something! Lestat is sworn to keep certain things about vampires from Lestat and Claudia. Is that the real reason he attacked them at the end of the episode? To stop Claudia from searching for other vampires?
This was one heck of an episode, completely absolutely unexpected and one that has caused so many wars across social media and is hence, an iconic moment of television history. I am very curious to see how this plays out in later episodes and seasons - if they brought this up many notches, are they going to do the same for other things that happen in the future books? Armand? The Theatre of the Vampires? I am !!!

Yeah that episode ending was…something. I’m honestly not sure how to feel about this. Plus the unreliable narrator angle they’re working, so there’s the question of what’s real and what’s not. Ugh, I don’t know if I like this

I agree. I really loved the family dynamics they explored in the show.

I don’t think my prediction will happen because they won’t be finishing the whole Interview in the first season. Maybe at the end of season 2 though?

O my goodness! You find out so many things about Theatre Des Vampire in the book The Vampire Armand. All I can say is “Yikes” that place was demented.
