    Thanks for the info! I lost over 100lbs this year and I’m working towards a 100 miler now! Doing my first marathon next week!

    Only tid bit on ibuprofen, be sure you are hydrated (as best you can be!!) if you are going to take this in an ultra (or any race) as it will be rough on your kidneys. Kudos on finishing !

    Aid stations/transition areas: where dreams begin to die if one lingers too long. Nice work on the race/finsih. For any event past 6 hours in duration , I start a gradual carbohydrate increase 3 -4 days prior with a grand finale of a good carb load dinner the night before to ensure the tank is topped off. No high fiber fruits,veggies, or beans the day before the race to clear out the tract if you know what I mean.

    During my 50-miler I changed socks 3 times, and my feet were definitely swollen by the end. Having a slightly larger toe box can make a big difference. Walking early is helpful, but I also wish i took more time to sit and to stretch at the early aid stations.

    just a great video. I am getting into running longer and want to work towards 50k and 50 mile. Thanks for talking about what you said you were going to talk about, and not making me listen to 20 minutes of fluff before getting to the point. (Bit of a soap box but I am sure you know what I mean.) One tip that I heard from you I haven't heard from anyone else was, "write down what you needed from the aid stations because you will have untra brain." I didn't know that was a thing.

    I’ve also heard pack toilet paper just in case 😝 …. I’m planning to run my first 50 miler later this year
    Salt tablets also. And walk inclines, run flats, and let gravity pull you down declines

    Cool video. Can you confirm that we should not be taking ibuprofen. I have heard horror stories and research shows not to. But for you it worked. Kinda weird.

      Yeah good point. I've heard some horror stories as well after posting this video. It worked for me, but I also didn't take that much (200 mg). I just got done running a 100 yesterday and was taking Tylenol instead.

    Just signed up for an ultra marathon, how do I get my stuff at aid stations? Do I need to have someone on standby for me?

      Nice Ricky! If you have a drop bag, they'll typically tell you which aid stations they shuttle them to throughout the race..so it'll be there waiting for you to sift through when you come through.

    Would drinking ginger ale preemptively have the same effect as drinking it once you have stomach issues?

      It’s different for everyone, but learn what works for your body. Some folks drink a lot of soda due to its caloric density.

    What about immune system, I always end up sick after long runs over 20miles, I pound vitamins too, any tips?

      Funny you say that, because I actually got Covid after my hundred miler lol. If I had to go back, I would’ve been loading up on vitamin C the days prior and after!!

      You know, it’s something I’ve constantly grappled with (pun intended haha).
      During significant training blocks where I can’t get injured, I’m not training much, but during the winter I’ll ramp it up a bit more. It’s tough tho

    Running 50 miles isn’t this complicated lol. I did it for fun 3 years ago. Took me 8.5 hours and only stopped for a mcchicken when I got hungry at 16 miles. Your way over complicating it.

      @@ChadLubinski And, again, you are way over complicating things. Thinking you even need to eat anything on a 50 mile is the equivalent of someone thinking they need to carry a camelback for a 6 mile or less run. Running a 50 mile is easy. You just run 50 miles. You made it though and that’s all that counts. Would just be faster not eating. For me, at least, eating during a run is going to slow me down. Not only will I have to take time eating it, but then I have to digest it and divert energy away from the run itself. Making it a miserable experience. Keep up the great work.

      @@ChadLubinski You said in your video that your blood rushes to your legs and not your digestion. So your answer is to eat? Then because you’re having stomach issues you now need ginger ale. You then say the more experienced runners are in and out of the stations (probably because they know they don’t need to constantly eat) Sometimes it’s hard to see the forest for the trees. Maybe try carb loading the day before. I’m just speaking from experience. I’m not bashing you and I’m proud of you for completing 50 miles. Just a suggestion. Maybe get more of your energy from sports beverages which aren’t going to tax your digestive system and cause you to feel weak and sluggish. I ran 50 miles in 8.5 hours so don’t think I’m just nagging. As a fellow runner just some tips to help you out. Either way take care and keep up the grind
