      @@ITGuyinaction At the time my dad gave me the option for a C64 with floppy drive, but instead I chose a 600XL with 1030 data cassette. I bought a tape copy of frogger for $5 from a friend at school and that was all I played for probably 6 months. I was a blind Atari fan, for there were tons of C64 owners I could have gotten games from back in the day here in Canada.

    I have been amazed for many years how Poland became the center of the Atari universe. Why is this so? Is it because Jack Tramiel's family came from Poland? I've often wondered if there was some truth to that. In any case, I am very thankful that there are so many dedicated Atarians there who support our beloved 8-bit home computers. Keep the flame alive as long as possible!

      I think it might be related with some good business decisions. During communism it was in general difficult to buy foreign electronic devices but Atari computers were easily available in the chain of shops called Pewex when you could buy them by paying in dollars (it's for sure not our national currency). Of course they were very expensive but at least having money you could easily buy them. It could have some impact on the situation although it doesn't explain all. And for sure it has influence on Atari world in the next years until now in Poland... Sometimes good grain gives good fruits...

      @ITGuyinaction oh my god, thank you for answering this! I always wanted to know why and how Atari even existed during communist Poland, especially considering, well, it was the Cold War and western products generally weren't available in the Eastern Bloc! And yet somehow Atari was available back then. This always confuse me, but you helped answer the question. Thanks!!❤

    The Atari modern games scene has been pushing the hardware more than the C64 homebrew scene I think. Time Pilot, Bosconian, Space Harrier are all brilliant. Most of the new C64 games you have to buy aren't really better than the best already from 1983-1991. No modern shoot em up for C64 comes even close to Enforcer by Manfred Trenz of Rainbow Arts. I hope somebody does Elite and Skyfox for the Atari soon, 2 really nice games from the mid 80s. I really wish I could find somebody to help out with Rescue on Fractalus II I have been designing.

    • @ITGuyinaction
      @ITGuyinaction  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      🤔🤔🤔🤔 Difficult to say... I know the most Polish homebrew productions for Atari. Although even for C64 you can find some good titles developped in the last years. I hope that more people will add more comments here as it would be so much interesting to learn more opinions. I hope also that you will visit my small channel more often. 😀 P.S. Btw, you have also interesting videos on yours!

      I don't see any 3D on C64....... but on Atari 8bit it's EVERYWHERE.

    • @madcommodore
      @madcommodore ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ecernosoft3096 Exactly, the C64 homebrew community has settled on 1984 quality coding and graphics and none of the musicians can rival the best composers of the 80s either. I honestly don't see the point buying new 21st century C64 games when the old ones are free and better technically.

    This is why ATARI was always superior to Commodore.
    Faster CPU.
    More colors.
    More voices.
    More expandability.
    More RAM.
    Easier to program (I learned the Atari 5200/8bit in just a week.)
    CHEAPER (Before you say it, you had the option of the 16K machines when the 64K machines were the top and then the 64K machines when the 128K machines were the top!)
    And finally...... 3 years EARLIER.

    • @ITGuyinaction
      @ITGuyinaction  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for this post. I believe it's a bit more complicated that it looks like. For example the question is if we should compare Atari 400/800 or Atari 800XL with Commodore 64... Concerning programming do you mean BASIC or assembler? Assembler was probably similar in both cases. When it comes about BASIC, true that Atari had slightly better one. When you have 20-25 min, please have a look on my video about comparison Atari 800XL with Commodore 64. Concluding thanks for visiting my small channel. Good to see you here!

    Great video!
    I'm pissed off at the TH-cam algorithm though. I've been searching for and watching Atari related videos for years, and today is the first day I've come across your content.
    I'm very jealous of the Atari scene in Poland. I live in the US, and here in the birth place of Atari, hardware, software and books are hard to come by.
    I've recently started dabbling in assembly language programming on the Atari, so who knows, maybe I'll have a game to share a few years from now 😀
    P.S. I'm a tough guy 😛

      👍🎥💥 Thank you for nice words! I hope that you will visit my small channel from time to time as Atari will always be close to my heart! ❤Being interested in assembly programming for Atari, please be my guest and have a look on the two additional videos here: the one about Polish utilities for Atari as it contains also software for assembler geeks and the one about AI and Atari. I hope you will enjoy them! Currently I'm preparing the second part of this second video but not sure when it will be released. Concerning yt algorithm that's really pity as my channel is in practice not at all promoted by the algorithm. Sometimes I put some links on some forums etc. and then I get visits. From yt I get almost nothing (very small number of views) but at least it's good that at least sometimes it proposes my videos as in your case. Best greetings!

      Hey, same here, just popped up on my page but have searched many times in past for something like this.
      Its quite something to see what people in later years have managed to developed since the days when I used to play.
      Good channel.
      I believe the more watched the channel, the more it will be shared. Maybe the creator hasn't pushed it out there enough.

    • @ITGuyinaction
      @ITGuyinaction  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@donny121able I think that yt algorithm doesn't trust too much the creators. Adding keywords, description etc. doesn't help in putting video high in searching results. Only after enough high number of views and enough high number of links, the video becomes "more visible". Thus I hope the channel will become more popular with time as current results doesn't motivate me too much. Interesting how many good and promising channels stopped to be developed because of a bit strange yr algorithms assumptions... Still big thank you for your support! 😺👍🕹

    • @donny121able
      @donny121able 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Wll see if other Atari channels will take a look and share, don't think they will see it as competition as your unique to them and I'd imagine they're decent people.

      @ITGuyinaction  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@donny121able That would be nice. I have two channels. One in Polish and one in English. When it comes about Polish version it was recommended many times on other Polish retro and games channels, usually on the Community tab. However when it comes about English version, I haven't noticed any recommendation on any channel. I'm wondering if it's because of my not enough good English or because of other reasons?
