I know the original games were released in the late 80s. Does anyone know if this game is set around that same time period/early 90s? Ayumi and Taro’s unfamiliarity with cell phones leads me to believe that this isn’t present day.

Ayumi already used a mobile phone, on Lost Memories in the Snow. Wonder if she lost the one she had in that game, or was her mother's.
