To those of you who don't play Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Gates to Infinity. Hydreigon's verse of Opening Up Heaven's Gates to Infinity. That is a massive reference to the fact that he literally tore open the heavens to summon you to the Pokemon world to stop the Bittercold. (Why is there 101 likes on this?)
That line made me SO happy.

The Hydreigon one is absolute genius, he makes a PMD Gates to Infinity reference and uses that to segue into a like Christian scheme, bouncing from Heaven to making a reference to the Agony in the Garden of Gethsemane and then referencing the Trinity as a reference to Hydreigon having three heads. Unbelievable.
Yeah. Reason that works so well is because hydreigon in gates to infinity is basically "god" not god. But it's the voice of life.
"This hydra keeps getting ahead, ahead and ahead and ahead" is definitely the best line in the whole video.

My thoughts on each verse:
Dragonite/Ethan Ross - one of the best opening verses out of all of Cam's cyphers, great intro line and that mid section where he goes "What's a Draco even for?" is so pleasing to the ears
T-tar/Politicess - I love how he brings the same energy that he had as Cheren and turns it into a braggy/showoff type of verse, that "bum-ass" insult is just so funny, also big props for that X Drake One Piece reference
Salamence/Connor Quest - really inspirational verse, that last line is definitely one of the best finishers, also that Better Call Saul reference is so fitting, when I watched the show and heard that name I legit thought "Hey that's so similar to Salamence!", didn't even think for a moment that someone would name drop it in a Pokemon Cypher, but I'm glad he did
Metagross/Diggz Da Prophecy - I find it funny how his verse has the fastest pace, considering that Metagross is the second slowest of all Pseudos, but still kinda fits since he's a hyperintelligent robot, the blue cross and the palm read lines are so good
Garchomp/Cam Steady - leave it to Cam to pour all of his love for the franchise into his verses, really good flow, amazing lines, there's so many of them that are good that I can't just pick one, definitely did our boy Chomp justice
Hydreigon/Mat4yo - just like always Mat never disappoints, amazingly thought up lines, insane flow, also the fact that the backing synths give off a malevolent/eerie feeling makes this verse perfect
Goodra/Blvkdivmonds - great rhymes and good flow, underrated verse, that Muddy Water finisher is so funny
Kommo-o/954mari - solid verse, that line that references his Soundproof and Bulletproof abilities is so good, just disappointed we didn't get the standard "Aloha to the Alola", but I guess it makes sense for him to not say it
Dragapult/Breeton Boi - the second half of his verse is amazing, especially the part where he starts firing

Hydreigon actually references gates to infinity. A pokemon mystery dungeon game. Where Hydreigon is actually the one who called us there but our communication was interrupted by a muna who makes us think that it's the voice of life when Hydreigon is the voice of life. Cause a way Hydreigon references it being the voice of life is by referencing religion.

The long awaited patterrz reaction to this cypher is finally here. This is personally one of my favourite ones because of how in-depth they go with some of the lyrics. Can't wait to hear your take

I honestly thought Garchomps was my favorite because of how TRUE it was. It doesn't matter the Gen, the chomp is a problem. Even without Cynthia, there is a reason chomp had the nickname, the Uber killer.
Came from the stream and real talk, I love this cypher. My favourite is Hydreigon but my other notable ones are Dragonite,Garchomp and Dragapult.

7:56 iirc from watching alot of false swipe gaming videos, garchomp in early-mid gen 4 was so good that it was banned from OU and went to UBERs, and it was still doing pretty damn good there. idk if it was ever unbanned, but i remember hearing that it was doing really well in ubers.

@@rockno they meant Garchomp was never UNbanned in Gen 4, they were indeed banned in that gen. It wasn’t until Chomp got Rough Skin as an alternative to Sand Veil in Gen 5 that they were allowed in OU.

I think some of the lyrics for Tyrannitar like “If I switch then you won’t last” are referencing the Sand Stream ability that chips away at your opponent’s HP while giving Tyrannitar a SpDef buff.
That line is so much better if you get also the 2nd layer to it; " 'steady' with a team if I switch.."

Tyranitar had so many good lines my favourites are the reference to his pokedex number 248 (2 4's ate (8)
and "look up at my chain I came from the green and blue" which references his evolution chain, Larvitar is green, Pupitar is blue
But honestly all these verses were so good I struggle to pick a fave
There's another (possible) reference to a pokedex number in his verse with the line "Shiny Blastoise come in play, see the 9 flash", as 9 is Blastoise is pokedex number, though this line is likely a double meaning since a 9 can also refers to a gun, which the rapper, Politicess, is pretty notorious for making references to in his songs (seriously I don't think I've ever heard him not make a gun reference in any verses he's written), and since Blastoise has guns, the comparison was made, and the pokedex thing was probably either a cool double entendre, or completely coincidental, though knowing how clever Politicess is with his lines, I would say the former.

Dunno where the Zapdos line came from but here's a stretch: Goodra has Hydration, an ability that works under Rain which also is the best weather for Zapdos because Thunder and Hurricane will have infinite accuracy. I really don't know if that's what Blkdivmonds was going for, but that's my best guess
Also Sligoo evolves into Goodra by being leveled up to lvl 50 while in the rain so maybe it references that

I really expected a lot more from Garchomp coz' Cynthia's Garchomp, when it gets really angry, it's that type of pokémon that will slither your neck while you are still alive. But still, I believe that Garchomp is greater than Dragapult.
My favorite was probably Mat as Hydreigon, though Tyranitar, Dragapult Garchomp and Kommo-O are also amazing

Only bad/weak verse was from Blvk Divmonds as Goodra. I remembered saying that I wanted a woman to to that pseudo, and while I wanted to like the verse, there are super random lines and better could have been done. Either have better writing, swap BD for someone female, or do both. Everyone else, however, had rather good performances. Salamence, Garchomp, Hydreigon, Kommo-o, and Dragapult we’re all highlights.
