As much as I hate it, Animation in the west is not only EXTREMELY expensive (for the product you get, which is the most corner cutting, low detail animation,) and on top of that, while Vannos, and the gang are by far not low on funds, their carreers are far from thriving. They havent had enough views and traction for a while now. So couple the twilight years of a formerly giga popular group with an absurd pricing on animation in the west, and you get smt not possible. But dont let this fool you, TH-camrs, make a lot of money. Sponsors and add rev pay more then people can think. Its just that these guys, didnt couple themselfs with the best corpos, and other issues didnt do em much favours. But YTs make a lot. Example, KSI before his cripto, Prime, Lunchly bs, was able to easily just drop half a million on a Berrus chain. David Dobrik dropped millions on multiple houses, and so forth.

It didn't discourage me from watching it, but I could tell from that video he wasn't happy with what they ended up putting out.

Still feel bad for Vanoss in this entire thing. He's a really creative guy as we've seen with his vids and the Team6 Animations, so knowing that arguably one of the most creative members of the group alongside Wildcat, Terroriser and Marcel were essentially shackled in their creativity just hurts. Especially since they didnt accept the many streaming or cable company deals because they felt this exact thing was going to happen under their contract. I wish we could've got the Alpha Betas the boys wanted to make, especially knowing how dark their humour has been lately, would've been a blast.

I am SO glad team 6 was brought up. I knew damn well the vanoss crew had enough creativity to really take alpha betas writing to the next level, yet the show while it wasn’t horrible just didn’t really express that. Hella happy to see marcel, terroriser and vanoss having a similar perspective on creativity and what should’ve been done differently
They’re all extremely talented and creative, It baffles me how someone hasn’t funded them for future projects like they clearly have loyal dedicated viewers that will rake in cash AND they are some of the most creative guys on this platform. It’s just rough out here I guess

That Pilot showed their creativeness, I was so excited after that Pilot Episode. It had Potential, a ORIGINAL plot bummer that It was the best among the episodes a Pilot should never be the best episode in a Series. I wish one day they do this animation thing again but do it with their control.

I’ll be honest here. Based on what I see from big companies and their bigger demands in everything before, during or after a project, it would have been better to work with a smaller name, and make things clear regarding control. The ones with the idea and the money should have all control, unless willingly delegated to someone else. And simply work from there. Working for bigger names is not worth it, especially now with everyone wanting bigger pieces from an already tiny pie.
Honestly, everytime I think about Alpha betas, i think about that one bts video of them in the writing room and seeing marcels reaction being like "NO WAY" OOH MY GOD" and after watching the entire alpha betas series, I just think to myself that theres no way marcel reacted that way to the elon musk plot twist or to anything else that happened in that show because it was really bad
This is unfortunately very common in the entertainment industry when a certain something is different and has a lot of potential to be very successful gets cut short in favor of other shows/movies or a board of people who THINK they’re creative try to get their 2 cents in and pound of flesh from the show and it turns out the way Alpha Betas did. It’s unfortunate because Alpha Betas was a victim of that whole thing. I still think it was one of the best shows to happen so it could’ve been great and if only the crew did it themselves it could’ve at least gone on for a season or two. They deserved better
The show had potential but it flopped so hard, comparing Alpha Betas and Team 6 is literally night and day, There was way better shit in Team 6, it literally sounded more natural and less scripted with better jokes. Like how tf did a lower budget animation video beats a million dollar TV show. They should've just done it themselves and hired their own team, feel like going corporate fucked their show so hard.

Well said Marcel, I thought the episodes were good and fairly funny but I knew something had to be going on behind the scenes. It just didn’t fell authentic from you, Brian, Tyler, and Evan. I still watch the Team 6 videos and they still hold up to this day. I can't say the same about AB, mostly because I haven't watched past the pilot and a bit of episode 1. It just feels off. Sure I do want to see them branch out and play more than just their own characters, but you can't beat how good they are at playing themselves
I watched the series when it came out, all I remember is that the pilot was good and I actually thought the show might be good, as I wasn't sure if I'd care, then watching the rest of the show it felt like certain elements from the pilot just got thrown away and everything just felt cliche and boring and unfunny. The jokes felt like when your uncle is trying to make edgy jokes at thanksgiving dinner and you just have to sit there the whole time listening
I had a feeling the Alpha Beta show didn't pan out how they wanted just due to the fact they didn't really talk about it much after the episodes were made. And I never really looked into it further than that. But hearing this, it makes sense. Sucks they couldn't have more control over it. But also hearing how Vanoss put together the whole Team 6 thing, makes me compare him to Kaiser who edited DBZA. Listening to their commentary and how Kaiser would edit audio and sound effect, ask for different takes ect. I knew Evan was talented, but that puts it into a new perspective for me.
I spent alot of money supporting the show on Kickstart, and thenpilot was amazing, I even thought the end product was alright, it just felt like an end to a long running series and I just didn't get to see the 12 seasons in-between. What I mean by that is, the pilot was full of passion and was a little edgy but all the characters are fully realized and have idiosyncrasies and quirks that make them fun and engaging. And the last bit felt like everyone that had worked on it had been doing it for 10+ years and are burned out and ready to move on. Its like I saw the pilot episode and the season finale and just didn't get all the stuff in the middle. Still better then most tv though
I personally feel like one of the problems was the fact the second episode is after the big drama and build up set up by the pilot, witch explains the 'last time on alpha betas...' like beginning that episode had, or tried to have because it was just a conext and exposition dump due to it being a huge leap from pilot to what might as well have been the second season
It's unfortunate but personally, I think they let the dream of something big and professional delude them a bit to what the reality of it was. Team 6 was great, and sure it wouldn't have had the giant names in it, but had they gone for smaller animation studio, I think they could've made something better. They had people raise 1 million dollars, and then ended up wasting it, which I don't hate them for, it was an honest mistake, but it's true. I'm still hoping one day that they'll be able to learn from their mistakes and do a series they're proud of.
I’m SUPER out of the loop so idk the actual structure but sounds like Evan should’ve been given a director’s position with how much he WANTED to do for the project. If that was the case it would’ve been entirely different for them
They should have done a go fund me or much cheaper animation the moment you get big investors that has a say the usual end story is the creator not liking what becomes of said project. Just explain to the fans what would be of the process if big investor got in and you lose control of project
I can't say I am surprised that this is what happened to Alpha Betas. The unfortunate truth of the matter is that for shows that require investors and networks to bring in much needed cash, they have much more leverage over the creative process compared to the actual creators, because (in their mind) they know what makes something financially successful, and will make decisions that they believe would make their investment pay off more quickly.
i think it was a good thing that Vanoss and his crew tried something new like animation shows. At least they did their best for their first time so yeah it can be disappointing but if the people who watched it liked it then it's not a failure in the end. We can only cheers them up for what they did and their future project.
It wasn't their first time doing animated shows, just the first time they had a larger company directly involved, and now it's as forgettable as it is.
I would say their biggest mistake was trying to put it on TV. They should have made a whole separate TH-cam channel for their animation. And called it teen six animation studio. And hired a team of TH-cam animators. They probably would have made more money going to TH-cam route then trying to go to the traditional TV route.
The hardcore fans who watch the group video's knew that the final product was not them because the jokes weren't the same. It definitely felt controlled. It felt pressured for sure.
Alpha betas was honestly a cash grab for kickstarters and Team 6 was honestly just effectively used as promotion, Team 6 effectively didnt get anything from what I understand and the money from the kick start probably went to everyone else involved. shame, really- in the end, they should've just did their own thing like Vivzi and Glitch. But I suppose making ties to a studio will always have diminishing creative freedoms.
I really enjoyed the Team 6 series, they really put all their efforts into making it which is why I don’t feel the same way for Alpha betas. The pilot was a great introduction but the rest didn’t keep me invested.

The jist is you cannot make your own shows in this day and age, everything is moderated and 'done for you' to make it right for the 'modern audience'. I hate that.
One thing that was a big let down was the Pilot episode was left wide open to continue this good story and then just.. nothing about it after. AB was a good show still hilarious just wish they couldv continued down that way.

Mini series like Team 6 and The Magic Tomato show just how much soul, creativity, and fun the Vanoss Crew can put out when they're involved with the project at hand and not sidelined from it.

They’re trying to make a name for indie youtube animation, and prove to the public and large companies that they can be great. A big no-no for large companies is edgy stuff, so they probably won’t have edgy stuff in TADC and maybe not in the upcoming animation, but after they’ve proven it, I can see the brothers doing edgy and crazy stuff for sure.
I always found it funny that no one batted an eye to Evan playing a white guy on the show during the time they were replacing white people playing other races on cartoons like The Simpsons and Family Guy.

Combined with Nanners stepping back to sure up his economical foundation for the sake of his own mental health. Which was then followed by both Sark and Nanners moving to Texas a couple years later, as the youtube red barrier was finally disappearing. Might honestly be easier to talk about what didn't prevent the show from continuing.

Shows are expensive to make. Hundreds of thousands of dollars for just a season. For example, just a minute of animation can cost upwards of $10,000. It's not just one person who animates something for a show, it's a team of dozens of people who each need to get a paycheck to make the work worth it. And again, that's just for animation, that doesn't even include sound design, writing, any licensing you might need, actors, and all those other good people who are responsible for making all the stuff you like.
In summary, the guys couldn't be team players. Oh, and to all the yes men here talking about Team 6, that was just a few videos referencing their iconic memes and little else, not a grand magnum opus of creativity.

It’s unfortunate because Alpha Betas was a victim of that whole thing. I still think it was one of the best shows to happen so it could’ve been great and if only the crew did it themselves it could’ve at least gone on for a season or two. They deserved better
The show had potential but it flopped so hard, comparing Alpha Betas and Team 6 is literally night and day, There was way better shit in Team 6, it literally sounded more natural and less scripted with better jokes. Like how tf did a lower budget animation video beats a million dollar TV show. They should've just done it themselves and hired their own team, feel like going corporate fucked their show so hard.

I still watch the Team 6 videos and they still hold up to this day. I can't say the same about AB, mostly because I haven't watched past the pilot and a bit of episode 1. It just feels off. Sure I do want to see them branch out and play more than just their own characters, but you can't beat how good they are at playing themselves
I watched the series when it came out, all I remember is that the pilot was good and I actually thought the show might be good, as I wasn't sure if I'd care, then watching the rest of the show it felt like certain elements from the pilot just got thrown away and everything just felt cliche and boring and unfunny. The jokes felt like when your uncle is trying to make edgy jokes at thanksgiving dinner and you just have to sit there the whole time listening

I had a feeling the Alpha Beta show didn't pan out how they wanted just due to the fact they didn't really talk about it much after the episodes were made. And I never really looked into it further than that. But hearing this, it makes sense. Sucks they couldn't have more control over it.
But also hearing how Vanoss put together the whole Team 6 thing, makes me compare him to Kaiser who edited DBZA. Listening to their commentary and how Kaiser would edit audio and sound effect, ask for different takes ect.
I knew Evan was talented, but that puts it into a new perspective for me.
I spent alot of money supporting the show on Kickstart, and thenpilot was amazing, I even thought the end product was alright, it just felt like an end to a long running series and I just didn't get to see the 12 seasons in-between.
What I mean by that is, the pilot was full of passion and was a little edgy but all the characters are fully realized and have idiosyncrasies and quirks that make them fun and engaging.
And the last bit felt like everyone that had worked on it had been doing it for 10+ years and are burned out and ready to move on. Its like I saw the pilot episode and the season finale and just didn't get all the stuff in the middle.

I personally feel like one of the problems was the fact the second episode is after the big drama and build up set up by the pilot, witch explains the 'last time on alpha betas...' like beginning that episode had, or tried to have because it was just a conext and exposition dump due to it being a huge leap from pilot to what might as well have been the second season

It's unfortunate but personally, I think they let the dream of something big and professional delude them a bit to what the reality of it was.
Team 6 was great, and sure it wouldn't have had the giant names in it, but had they gone for smaller animation studio, I think they could've made something better.
They had people raise 1 million dollars, and then ended up wasting it, which I don't hate them for, it was an honest mistake, but it's true.
I'm still hoping one day that they'll be able to learn from their mistakes and do a series they're proud of.

They should have done a go fund me or much cheaper animation the moment you get big investors that has a say the usual end story is the creator not liking what becomes of said project. Just explain to the fans what would be of the process if big investor got in and you lose control of project

I can't say I am surprised that this is what happened to Alpha Betas. The unfortunate truth of the matter is that for shows that require investors and networks to bring in much needed cash, they have much more leverage over the creative process compared to the actual creators, because (in their mind) they know what makes something financially successful, and will make decisions that they believe would make their investment pay off more quickly.

i think it was a good thing that Vanoss and his crew tried something new like animation shows. At least they did their best for their first time so yeah it can be disappointing but if the people who watched it liked it then it's not a failure in the end. We can only cheers them up for what they did and their future project.
It wasn't their first time doing animated shows, just the first time they had a larger company directly involved, and now it's as forgettable as it is.
Looks like going indie is much better satisfaction in the end nowadays considering all the animation series pooping out from TH-cam alone

I would say their biggest mistake was trying to put it on TV. They should have made a whole separate TH-cam channel for their animation. And called it teen six animation studio. And hired a team of TH-cam animators. They probably would have made more money going to TH-cam route then trying to go to the traditional TV route.

The hardcore fans who watch the group video's knew that the final product was not them because the jokes weren't the same. It definitely felt controlled. It felt pressured for sure.
Alpha betas was honestly a cash grab for kickstarters and Team 6 was honestly just effectively used as promotion, Team 6 effectively didnt get anything from what I understand and the money from the kick start probably went to everyone else involved. shame, really- in the end, they should've just did their own thing like Vivzi and Glitch. But I suppose making ties to a studio will always have diminishing creative freedoms.
I really enjoyed the Team 6 series, they really put all their efforts into making it which is why I don’t feel the same way for Alpha betas. The pilot was a great introduction but the rest didn’t keep me invested.

The jist is you cannot make your own shows in this day and age, everything is moderated and 'done for you' to make it right for the 'modern audience'. I hate that.
To be honest the show felt dry, and the jokes felt like they wanted to add a laugh track. It was very awkward.

@ I actually haven’t recently watched them (post-TH-cam arc), but I meant on like the mainstage. They’re trying to make a name for indie youtube animation, and prove to the public and large companies that they can be great.
A big no-no for large companies is edgy stuff, so they probably won’t have edgy stuff in TADC and maybe not in the upcoming animation, but after they’ve proven it, I can see the brothers doing edgy and crazy stuff for sure.

Combined with Nanners stepping back to sure up his economical foundation for the sake of his own mental health. Which was then followed by both Sark and Nanners moving to Texas a couple years later, as the youtube red barrier was finally disappearing. Might honestly be easier to talk about what didn't prevent the show from continuing.

Shows are expensive to make. Hundreds of thousands of dollars for just a season. For example, just a minute of animation can cost upwards of $10,000. It's not just one person who animates something for a show, it's a team of dozens of people who each need to get a paycheck to make the work worth it. And again, that's just for animation, that doesn't even include sound design, writing, any licensing you might need, actors, and all those other good people who are responsible for making all the stuff you like.
