      HE STARTED HER AT 95 POUNDS AT A DEAD LIFT!! 20 POUNDS dumbbell lifting!! Those are weights that have to be worked up to you nimrod!! He started her out WAY TOO FAST!! Any idiot with a brain knows you have to work up to those weights and the amount of times he had her go up and down those stairs (which he even says he didn't start her on the shorter stairs) is far too much!
      He is the type of trainer that will gladly hurt his clients instead of working with them at their level and their pace.
      By the way. He has a ton of bad reviews because of his push too hard, too fast methods which have been proven to do more harm than good.

    The fact that you would hire someone who looks like him and think it was gone be easy 😂 like ma’am, you’re supposed to be sore. That’s how muscles work. Especially when you’re building muscle.

    He’s 100% correct. BEING SORE IS A GOOD THING!! It happens when you’re not used to using muscles intensely. It’s a sign you had a good workout actually. After a while, the soreness won’t be as bad each workout.

    • @staceymilochik6750
      @staceymilochik6750 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      No one should ever push themselves or be pushed to the point that they can't function. Soreness is one thing but being debilitated afterwards is not healthy or safe. He pushed her way too hard. Good trainers need to get feedback and adjust accordingly.

    • @yaya804
      @yaya804 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@staceymilochik6750 it may FEEL debilitating but the soreness only lasts three days tops. "No pain, no gain" especially if you have overly ambitious goals. Folks these days complain too much. You can't get ripped/lose weight AND be comfortable. It's unrealistic unless you don't mind minimal progress over an extended period of time, you gotta do research to help with relief. People want fast results with minimal effort. Like yoga as a cool down, an ice soak or a hot shower and tension taming tea before bed.

    • @jessicapearson9479
      @jessicapearson9479 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    • @staceymilochik6750
      @staceymilochik6750 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@yaya804 There is a huge difference between working out your muscles for gain and working them out to the point where you can't move properly. It's not smart or healthy. I had that happen to me years ago with a trainer who overworked me one time and for a week I could barely walk or lift my arms. That's not normal. Once I got on track with a reputable trainer, I saw the difference. And my gains were ten-fold. You don't have to work yourself to the point of injury to get good results.

    • @randys6220
      @randys6220 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not necessarily. I was really sore after each workout with a new trainer until a morning after 1 session I got out of bed and heard a loud snap noise after turning my leg. After the extreme pain and afterwards medical treatment I never went back to that trainer ever again. I kept telling him that I was having leg pain/stiffness every morning since beginning with him, but he would not listen.

  • @jennifer_mertens
    @jennifer_mertens ปีที่แล้ว +93

    If I had a workout with a trainer and felt NO SORENESS the next day, I would think something was wrong, not the other way around. If muscle fibers don't stretch and produce lactic acid(which burns) or break(which cause new muscle tissue to form)you gain nothing. The only thing I don't agree with is: the being on the phone while he's supposed to be training her. If she was overly sore the next day, just take it easier the next time. Stop seeing him, but don't expect a refund.

    Some people don't understand about hiring a trainer. They don't do miracles. You have to actually do the work to get results. I remember a past friend complaining about his trainer and how he didn't see big results after weeks of training. I told him maybe the 2 Big Mac's you ate for dinner has something to do with that.

An electric massager to her muscles coupled with a lot of water after a workout will help a lot too. (That helps to releases toxins, and will help break up connective tissues that are too tight ).

    I once worked at an Amazon warehouse as a trainer and people like this exist there as well. The job is a low impact workout (walking from point a to b and bending your knees and stretching to get to low and high shelves for a full work day) and I told everyone day one if you’re not a remotely active person in your day to day life while you’re at work you will not notice it but as soon as you get home you will be sore, just know it goes away after a week once you get used to being more active. More often than not 80% of people hired would not come back due to the soreness.
    The workout wasn’t the issue, it was the pain afterward that ran her off. Unfortunately that means that her “fitness model” goal is out of the question because you can’t get that look power walking and doing a few jumping jacks. Sculpting takes effort, if it didn’t everyone would have six pack abs.

      @mendezarma after the fact. He should have been professional enough to realize it wasn't the right thing to do to begin with. The fact that he did it at all speaks volumes to the fact that he sees nothing wrong with it. I've worked with a PT before and that trainer certainly never even acknowledged their phone during that time, her words were you paid for this time you get my undivided attention, if it's an emergency they will call the gym and let me know.

    Respect,
    Never begin a workout without a stretch and warm-up. Working muscle to failure can be achieved with no weight. Each client is different and has a different workout experience level. Work for form while breathing and progress/build not to hurt nor injure. Of course being sore is innate to the physiology of muscle-building but causing the pain being described is due to overworking.
    Simply, this is a contract case, and this is why she rightly lost.

    As a personal trainer, I have some questions for the defendant -- did he screen her by doing mobility and stability exercises to determine her level of mobility or joint mechanic issues? Or did he just start her off with deadlifting at 95 pounds? The deadlift is a complex exercise and shouldn't be done if the person doesn't have a stronger core. Plus it could wreck the back if it's done in the wrong form, and starting at 95 pounds puts you at risk for doing that. Also, it's good to take your clients through a warm up in their session to get the familiar with stretches. And he started her on isolated lunges with out determining if she had mobility in her knee and stability in her ankle first? Maybe she did, but these are things you need to work the client into instead of just right away. Now, from his perspective, soreness is a killer. Many people who haven't exercised in while will experience serious soreness for several days after their workout, and they're not use to how it's suppose to feel, so no, I don't think he "broke" her or did something wrong. That may have been whining on her part.
    Texting: yes, admittedly I have done this a few times, but mostly I focus in on my clients during their session, and I do look at the phone, it's to go through the programming of exercises I have listed for them.
