Royal Enfield Meteor 350 Exhaust Mod: We Removed The Cat Con And Made It A Straight Pipe

- "Potato potato" - that's how you define a Harley Davidson motorcycle's sound. Similarly, in India, it is the unmistakable "dug dug" for Royal Enfield.
But then, BS-6 happened.
And it threw a spanner in the mix.
Gone is the lovely "thump" of the Royal Enfield single, replaced by a sound that is barely audible. How is a Royal Enfield a Royale Enfield without that lovely "dug dug"?
So, my friend Jaideep ( / lowratio4wd ) - a die-hard Royal Enfield fan - decided to do something about it. To get that "authentic" sound back, he decided to dump the catalytic converter from the exhaust - a simple mod - and replaced it with a stainless steel straight pipe that links the header to the Royal Enfield exhaust can.
The result: A sweet sounding motorcycle, how we believe it should have come from factory.
Of course this mod is not road legal, and we don't even intend to ride this bike this way - this is his demo motorcycle from one of his Royal Enfield dealerships - we just wanted to know what the bike would sound like.

So now it's converted from BS6 to a BS2 😂
It took RE to lose the emission norms in order to get it's Thump back!
And its street illegal...agar mamu pakad liya toh gaya 😂

What’s the use of doing such things apart from weight reduction and little thumpy sound ar't it going to pollute more now ... Thought of it earlier but did't do it besause of pollution and one thing more these types of under square
engines require a little backpressure to run efficiently these are torquei engines they don' t behave properly in a free flow exhaust ... Thankyou

I'd buy this over the Honda CB350 anyday, (Which is amazing as well).. The Meteor's looks are spot on for me. The gearing and the navigation system is much better than the CB350.

Meteor 350 first model without E20 engine mein straight pipe lagake catalytic converter hatake RE straight cut silencer which is back pressure calculated ko install karne se koi engine valve, mileage etc.. mein problem hoga ? Pollution karwate time catalytic converter install kar lenge. I want your suggestion on this.

It's funny our govt is so strict about vehicle emission norms especially bikes lol while In my city i can still see old govt cars transport buses/trucks emitting out black smoke and even industries and no one does anything about whereas a 3 year old scooty has to do a pollution test,I mean fr 😂

Its not loud because that exhaust is designed to produce low frequency tone. Use complete hollow exhaust for loud sharp sound like old bullets. Nice content BTW 😉👍
Is there any problem to engine while removing cat,?
An ecu flash / remap is probably required if I'm not mistaken , as the engine will loose back pressure after loosing that big ass cat-con

gr8 video...btw have you also removed DB Killer from end can of the Exhaust (Silencer) as well, if not try removing it and you will get much deeper RE exhaust note.. let me know.. keep thumping..

Hey my friend bought a fireball and I have a supernova brown. Sound is a but more muffled on the Fireball. Maybe cus of different materials/paint-chrome difference of the silencer among the two models.

I think keeping the cat which will maintain the exhausts back pressure and putting a short end can on would improve looks and reduce weight while still being clean but sounding more aggressive I feel

Removing the CatCon will reduce the back pressure to the inlet valves which might affect the combustion and the valves in the long run.. Has that been taken care of by inducing more glasswool in the stock RE exhausts... Just a query though.
No. Nothing of that sort has been done. Over the years, I haven't seen any engine damage by such simple mods.

I'm looking for a bit more power rather than more noise. On the Classic 500 lots of people in the UK made a conversion that improved breathing with a more open exhaust and a K&N air filter, then changed the gearbox sprocket for one with an extra tooth. This greatly improved the motorway performance. I think the Meteor 350 would benefit with the same treatment
If you do this I'd be curious what you find out. I own one but I'm thinking of selling it because of the speed limitations.

Can you still use the main stand? I say this as I think that the cat has rubber stops on it for the main stand. If you remove the cat their's nothing to stop the main stand.
First 350 from RE which is so solid ride quality older ones vobble a lot.
