As a 21 year old owner operator. Definitely still learn cool stuff and tricks with equipment from people who run equipment also. Been running equipment since I could walk. Dad owns a construction company doing concrete. But me and him just opened a land clearing and forestry mulching company that does grading and same stuff you do besides ponds. We’ve got 2 299d3s and a 308. But like a side the little tricks how u got the tin off the side definitely slick and fast to not fight the wood. Learn a lot from watching others. Been watching you for a while now.

It’s always a good video watching you demo an old building or barn, Chris! That’s a lot of tin on that barn!👍🏻💯 I guess it won’t be long before you have to demo the old house for Bealy and I believe you’re going to build a pond there too from what I remember!

As I was watching you tear this old barn down, it dawned on me that that old barn stood up pretty good to the mighty force of your excavator. Then I thought how quickly a tornado completely destroys a building in a matter of seconds.

Grand old barn has had its day. LetsDig18 Demo is a step by step process not just an attack - keep it neat and different 'bits' in separate piles for later dumping. Nice spot for a barn too - pretty.

This so showcases your abilities with the 220. Utilizing the raw power of the machine to destroy the building and the fine, delicate use of the bucket & thumb to pick out individual pieces. This was a fun one, Chris. Thanks for sharing.

He's done similar demos before, with the occasional MobileMansion. His style is FAR cleaner and neater than just about anyone else I've ever seen. • @bishopcorva

Makes me wonder if the landowner would have thought to save a tad on haul and dump fees, just have you dig a hole to throw all the wood in, burn it there and just cover it over. But I could understand at the same time, why that wouldn't be ideal since we'll, big hole dug and disturbed plus smoke, fire hazard if it's dry enough.
Peeling a tin roof off will forever remind me of being volunteered by my dad to help a neighbor out with taking a tin roof of his hunting camp building to replace all the 8 foot sections with 12 foot sections to cut down on the seams in the low pitch side room.
Wasn't paid or even promised hunting permission. He just wanted me out of his hair for a weekend. Old roof came off easy enough. Merely a line of screws set at 6" intervals on the horizontal and every 10" for the vertical seams. No sealer gaskets under the screws or even smear on roof tar sealer. Just metal on metal screwed to wood. Oh and it had been leaking long enough for many of the runners to need replacement too.
Nothing like having to balance on a 2x4 while placing new boards and runners. Then placing new longer tin sheets that were not long enough.
Less screws, more gaskets and roof tar. Painting it with silver aluminum paint. And no scaffolding, just a rickety wood ladder to climb up and down. I was also 13 at the time. Dangerous? Ha! Don't fall off was the safety measure.
At least I got a meal out of it. Though I think I lost easily a pint of blood a day from all the mosquitoes.

I had a 50 foot Chinaberry tree removed from my front yard, took 6 men and 4 truck.chippers to get the job done, Chris and the 220 could do it in about 1/2 hr by just pushing it over! Oh yah, and they left all of the roots and most of the stump behind. Only cost about $1000.00.

Maybe it could, I don't know, but if it ain't fit for what you want it to do, because it has been added to as and when funds and purpose got together, then it isn't worth keeping. Just because is old and looks OK doesn't mean it fits your plans - look at all the healthy, beautiful trees Chris has to take down just because they don't fit the plans.

That barn was still in good shape, structurally. But I suppose when you have more dollars than sense, you put a little jingle in Chris' pocket!🤣

Interesting to watch you tear down the barn. I just have to ask.....why. I only wish I had a barn like that was. Someone has more money than they know what to do with it seems.

He said they were going to build a new barn in the same location, probably with space for today's machinery.

I wonder if you would use your grading bucket to strip the metal siding would work better.

I would have kept the barn. That barn had character. I hated to see it torn down.

Barn removal 101. That barn had definitely done its job over the years. Time to refresh.

Actually looks like part of it was an old house someone converted to a barn.

I think the original section was built in the 1930s

@@cathiwim There was an old house on the edge of the town I live near that had that same siding and someone converted it to a barn. My uncle did it to a house that was separate from a big old brick house for a bed and breakfast in the 1800s. I believe the owners of the bed and breakfast lived. He boarded up the windows and used it for grain storage for awhile.
