  • In this video we review a 1996 SN95 Mustang Cobra that has been Coyote swapped and supercharged with a Vortech YSi race trim blower. This car has a Gen 2 Coyote Motor paired with a a Tremec T-56 transmission, McCleod RXT twin disc clutch and quick time bell housing. Exhaust is BBK Coyote swap headers, BBK X-pipe and bullet race mufflers. This car puts out nearly 1000whp and has run a 9.90 in the quarter mile.

      @@banditpsycho3573 LOL they dont understand the power of an OHV 5.0 .. I mean I know this particular car is a mod motor originally but like... They dont get that the power band of a high velocity 2v can be superior at high 300s hp compared to a 400+ powered coyote. somewhere along the way sport compact dorks made DOHC synonymous with performance technology... not just an alternative build. I mean flat tappet and rollers aside just in general an OHV I'd love to build just a regular iron 5.0 for an SN95. I'm working on a 306 right now, I do all my own porting as well.

    • @Chris-Rife
      @Chris-Rife ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tonypepperoni229 People use Coyote because factory engine can handle big big numbers. When planning to build a car with example 700 horsepower prior to these modular motors you had to buy completely new block. Then begin building it from the block up with right parts. It's going to cost more to build the pushrod SBF as compared to just swapping a coyote engine. I just sold my coyote for 16k basic parts and tuner I put on in my driveway made nearly 440 to rear wheels. That's power my pushrod 302 could only dream of making from basic bolt on parts and a email tune... I wouldn't trust a push rod 302 with that power to wheels on stock block and internals. I drove the coyote to a house I owned 300 miles away nearly every weekend because it was a safe/great daily driver... due to sub 450 not even tapping into any potential that the coyote can withstand.

    • @tonypepperoni229
      @tonypepperoni229 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chris-Rife 16K lmao... does not cost close to that much to build a 500 hp 347 or hell just use a 351!. 351W are good for mod motor power level. The iron 302 blocks are similar to running a hyper piston with boost... they do just fine but are more sensitive to detonation. Plenty of people have exceeded 500+ bhp on a stock block 5.0 without splitting. It comes down to tune . Richard Holdener has done some good tests... but yeah No... when is an engine that has a single camshaft ( for $200 with accessories ) ever more expensive than a 4 cam... I remember I had a 93 Lincoln cammer going to put in a 94' Cougar and to upgrade the cams back in like 2006 would have been $1100. then just the fact the heads are 4 bowls instead of 2 getting any sort of professional throat work or valve seat jobs etc.. My build right now I've probably spent like a few grand on my 306 or so. It's basically a junkyard F-150 engine with the long runner plenum.. Valvetrain is all Lunati, clevite bearings etc.. so you spend it where it matters. Point being I'm making a basically around 400 ft lb engine with stock junk yard castings. Also at the HP level? if you took a gen 1 coyote and this build / cam you would see that on the dyno the OHV has obv the lower powerband making more power (avg of 10 above until the coyote comes into its range)... so until the coyote car gets up or keeps up in the RPM range the car thats under 400 hp could have an advantage in a road course. I'm talking E7s here with stock size valves so its not even like ported GT40 running 230 cfm or so.. I know of one notchback running 10's NA that runs E7s LOL. My throttle body cost like $400 so odd places where it adds up for EFI but then the plenum gets port matched and I cut it open to change cross sectional area and allow it to breathe more RPM to suit the cam. but yeah Its honestly like a few grand at least under 5 for the longblock. My intake manifold basically flows like a Trickflow street heat now. Heads could be better but again its the principle of the thing its a true truck engine and with hydraulic flat tappet, and under .500 lift

      Agreed! Had a 97’, but the wife would kill me if I buy another one after owning 4 cobras…currently have a 13’ gt500.
      I’ve had a 97’, 01’, 08’ and now the 13’ GT500.
      I still think the 97’ was my favorite to drive. That shorter fox body feel was fun at the track.
      My 13’ is running the same track times as this modified 96’ with about $5,000 bolt-on’s and my time/labor. Pulling 9.9-10.1’s at 140
      Although…my 13’ doesn’t have that same fox body feel, it’s one of the faster street cars that’s a comfortable daily driver 8 months a year. I always love the 96-98 look and feel though.

      Coyotes are a great platform to make easy power with out of the box, but the same can be done with the 4.6 dohc motor. Those 4.6 dohc motors already come with a stout block that can handle over 1500whp and to top it off it has a forged Kellogg crank, I’ve personally seen the stock heads handle 1000whp, your motor is basically pistons,rods,fuel system,and boost away from 1000whp

      @@SilentMovements305 you can make big power with 2v motors too but they don’t come with a forged crank like the cobras do, or able to handle 1000whp on stock heads…if you want a fast 2v just get a cobra block and swap out the pistons and rods for some forged ones, and upgrade your heads valve train, after that just upgrade your fuel system and you should be good for some big power

I'm older now and don't care abought having the fastest car on the block I like the nostalgia and sound of the old 347 stroker z303 cam with afr 185 heads and vorteck back in the day it was competitive , I dont know what to do .......

    Man, I javelin a 03' Crown Vic P71. I was contemplating between a coyote and a LS swap either a 6.0L or 6.2L. But this video makes me want to go 5.0 with a t-56 Magnum. I Luv the sound of that stang with the Bullet mufflers on it. If Ford would have upgraded the Vic with the 5.0L and 6R80 trans the Vic would still be around. I've only seen 1 5.0L Vic swap and that was on TH-cam. So I know it fits. Just my a/c box will have to be modified prob from the Marauder. Thank you for the content brother.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't do an ls in any Ford ever no matter what. Just don't do it man. There's no reason at all to go ls when a coyote can be dropped in easier with better results and it won't be a bastard child. I'm so sick of ls swapped mustangs and ford's.

    • @GrandPitoVic
      @GrandPitoVic ปีที่แล้ว

      The only problem is. I can get over 500 horses for alot less money then running a coyote. Coyote are still dumb azz expensive.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @hughrobinson3722 they really ain't though you don't have to get a new crate engine they been around over 10 years now they're out there. You don't have to have a mustang engine get a gen 1 truck motor. They make 360 horse 380 tq stock and that is the lowest performance stock coyote you can get. It doesn't take much to make 500 to the tire. 6.0s and 6.2s aren't any cheaper than coyotes man. Don't be brainwashed by the internet ls is so cheap bs. Especially going into a Ford where alot needs to be changed whereas the coyote will drop right in without changing much of anything. There is more to a swap than the price of the engine. Alot more. And you're gonna have to do work to those ls motors to make them do as well under boost as even a gen 1 coyote can. 700 to the tire on a stock long block with a turbo setup.

    • @midnight347
      @midnight347 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @hughrobinson3722 especially if you're talking about an ls3 when you say 6.2. They cost just as much as gen 1 coyotes do.

    • @GrandPitoVic
      @GrandPitoVic ปีที่แล้ว

      I found a block for $500 is the only reason I'm running a Ls3. Otherwise, I would be running a 6.0 like other people. If I had to outright buy a drop out Ls3, I would just buy a 5.0. Their similar cost. Depending on mileage.
