    I'm a Generate Blocks user. I love it and this is a great development to see. Can't wait till the full release.

    Blows my mind how page builders are just now coming round to the idea of classes as being a great idea for globally styling a website... 😂 Great to see this in GenerateBlocks. Nice work mate!

      I think the issue isn’t whether global classes are a good idea, that’s a given. iI’s more a question of how to build a good UI & UX within Wordpress. Trying to integrate global classes into a moving target like Gutenberg, or WordPress generally can’t be easy. This (GenerateBlocks Alpha) looks to be a really good solution.

    For the editor parameters, can variables be used instead of static values? Like in Bricks?

    Hi paul, which one would you recommend - kadence blocks or generate blocks

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Less recommend, but for me, I use GeneratePress & GenerateBlocks on a lot of projects and love them. Kadence blocks is great, but I feel that GB strips things to their basics and gives you a palette to work from, whereas KB has done all that work for you, but you have to like what they've done.
      Does that make sense?

    As much as this is rather nice to have, it still feels like we're reinventing CSS with extra steps. As a dev, it's crazy to me the extent people are willing to go to make websites without actually learning to make websites. I like what GeneratePress is trying to do, but ultimately it's a bandaid on top of a bigger problem in the wordpress ecosystem, namely trying to have a system that contents both no-coders and developpers.

  • @david.robertson.photography
    @david.robertson.photography 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Certainly makes GB more appealing for FSE builds. Have you tried using Core Framework with this version Paul? I'm an AutomaticCSS user with Bricks and although it should work in Gutenberg I have never found it particularly convenient to use in practise

    • @WPTuts
      @WPTuts  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I haven't, no. But, I have read on the FB group about users using CF with GenerateBlocks/Press. How well integrated it is, I honestly don't know.
      I'll revisit things once this comes out of alpha and is released and see how they work together.

    I'm really curious about something since I've been running a site with GenerateBlocks Pro for years. I have nearly everything in the design controlled by Global Styles, with those styles being reflected in Local Patterns. I can already make site-wide styling and layout changes within seconds. I'm very unclear how this class-based workflow adds any value to such a setup. Can you clarify?

So I installed the Greenshift plugin, and customised one of the premade 'layouts' of Greenshift, and presto, the contact us page is a great pop. And yes, I also have the paid version of GP too. But I am finding Greenshift to be quite useful these days.

    Click in an inner block and the outer blocks will appear in the document overview! Not perfect I know, but it becomes a habit! (and in Preferences >> General make sure 'Always open List View' is turned on!) (noticed the inconsistency - in one place it is called Document Overview and in another List View :( )
