I agree that the 27 need some cooks to get used too. If you feel it too small, just try a swap in a fb group or somewhere, always someonte that will downsize from a 25.
Top Tip! Anodised aluminium takes a seasoning just like cast iron or carbon steel. Wipe a layer of high temperature oil (sunflower, flaxseed etc) on the cooking surface of the fry pan, wipe most of the oil off and bake in a hot oven for 1 hour. Allow to cool and repeat the process 3 or 4 times. You will end up with a dark brown or black surface which is non stick and protects the anodisation.
@@Braapncamp True - but the seasoning accelerates the process. I have three anodized pans (including the one from my 27-1 HA cookset). I found out how to do it from the Firebox Stove channel if you're interested in the details. It really works a treat!
Gillar dina sköna klipp Mattias. Stämning, stillhet och njuta i fulla drag av Guds sköna vinterskrud. Trangia är ett fantastisk fint företag med en imponerade lönsamhet de senaste tio åren. Take care!
Tack Pelle!
Hi Mattias, Both cookers did a great job because my mouth was watering just at the thought of tasting those burgers 🍔. We miss our visits to Sweden because of Covid restrictions, so thank you so much for posting views of the beautiful Swedish landscape 👍❤️🇸🇪. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺
They truly did. Yes, let s get rid of this situation now. All need to get out and make dreams come true. Hope we will have better possibilities this summer, but I'm not convinced.
Thank you for the comparisons between the 25T with gas and 27T with alcohol. I own only the alcohol versions and always wondered if using gas would make a huge difference (other than clean burns) or not. Seems it doesn't really differ except in the cleaner burns. I'm pleased and will not need to buy the gas extensions for both. I also own the 28T kit (Mini) and like it very much, use it often during kayaking stopovers. Here, in the 🇺🇸 USA, TRANGIA STORMCOOKERS are not widely used. More because of less marketing focus. I personally think people are missing out, I love mine collection of TRANGIA STORMCOOKERS. My normal GoTo for most outings, boating, hiking, kayaking, fishing, etc. Well then, thanks again. Be Well and Safe. Friendship Hugs from Sunny Florida 🌞 🤗.
Thanks for Your post Pamela! To actually cook or to be prepared for weather, the Trangia 27/25 are hard to beat. I also use the 28 Mini as a "to go" stove. I bought the gas burner when the kids was small and we were out camping. At that time it was very convenient. Today i pretty much only use the alco burner. It does great! Happy trails Pamela 👌🙌
pamela klemp - the main reason trangia stormcookers are not common in the usa is due to the cost of the unit. for many years retailers in the usa would only offer the bare alcohol burner or the 28 mini for sale, and even then many americans consider the 28 mini to be overpriced compared to what you can get from asian imports, so trangia just didn't catch on in the us market. but i agree with you, they are great cooking systems and i have several 25's and 27's as well as an older 28 that is not nonstick-coated. i have gas and multifuel burners too, the main advantage of a gas burner is immediate heat control which is great for things like pancakes.
@@marzsit9833 I tend to differ from your thinking about why the Trangia STORMCOOKER sets are not that popular in the USA. Many Boy Scout troops learn outdoor cooking skills using the Trangia 27T or 25T STORMCOOKERS. It is still widely used by them. But like many childhood items they are soon put away or given away for what they see as the latest and greatest adult cooking sets for the outdoors, JetBoil, Pocket Rocket, heavy Cast Iron Dutch Ovens, gas grills and the likes. Heavy-duty Marketing by the manufacturers and suppliers make the Trangia sets seem Vintage, they are in some ways yes, but never out of date as marketers often play them to be. Everyone wanted the quick boils, the Heavy-duty cast iron or the ultra lite TI sets. All have their place but the USA just simply forgot how wonderful the STORMCOOKER sets were. They market heavily the Trangia burners and stop there. Sad really but if you dress up something else and make it sound like the newest Be All then the buyers come buying it. Crazy really but the slick marketing of other companies works on people's pockets here. Most are much more expensive and have moving parts that clog or break over time. Just proves how easy insanity sells, IMHO, of course. I, myself own many kinds and styles of outdoor cooking systems. Trangia and SOLO are my GO-TO FAVORITES.
This is an interesting view of the Trangia success. Thanks for bringing it on. Trangia today have invested in new machines, they work shift since a couple of years and have never sold as many units. A design from the 60's-ish, that still are very popular and have it's place, rather impressive. Asia is where the boom is for Trangia and this even if lower cost stuff are made there. Different items are often sold out over here. The Trangia stormcookers and items are still made by the small family company in Trångsviken, Sweden. I'm a "stoveaholic" my self and have got me a collection of dirmfferent stoves out of curiosity and for different fuel options, weight, purpose etc. But still i tend to use the different Trangias 25, 27, 28, Triangle on almost all the hikes, just choose the best fit for the purpose. We ofc see the the same over here, from boy scouts to featherlight set ups. The 25 type is a evergreen design though and robust as the stormcooker it is. Right now in this very moment people are buy them for prepping here, alot of them are shipped to Ukraine as well.
Gas seems to do a low or slow simmer better than alcohol. Note that I have *both* burners, including an adapter for using regular butane “hairspray cans” as a cheaper alternative to the more-expensive Isobutane - and a big 1 liter bottle for Alcohol to fill the “doorknob.”
Hello from the USA! Thanks for the video. I’m trying to decide between the two types of metals for my first trangia set :) The burgers looked amazing! Cheers!
Thanks Steve! Tough decision, there is a reason why have different materials on the different Trangia's I have ☝️😁😂. But to be honest, go with HA or Duossal if you invest. Between those two no one is better than the other, it's more a preference to weight. best thing is that pots and pans etc. could be complemented later with a low cost, so you can combine. I use both my Triangle, T28 Mini, 27 and 25 for different situations. Material Is less important. Nonstick frypan could be considered,
Burgers look delicious. I too love Trangia cookware and own a 25. Bought it over the 27 for the simple reason that it has more cooking area if needed as you pointed out. The 27 is a tad more compact especially if you’re solo but can’t say I’m disappointed with the 25 at all. Thanks for the great video!
Mattias Eriksson Braap&Camp haha would like to have a 27 as well but really appreciate how compact the triangle is. Such a simple but effective design. Possibly the finest "small" stove ever!
@@eugenebatstone5658 It is! I bought my Triangle direct by Malin Bergman at Trangia factory outlet some years ago. Thats something special too. 😁Made some coffee with it last week, with a wonderful view.
👍 .. the Burgers .. nice. Not much to differentiate between the two. One of the Secrets in using non 'non-stick' cookware (even non-stick items) is Temperature Control and keeping that in the Pan moving .. not giving it a chance to 'get to know the pan surface better' .. similar to a rolling stone gathering no moss 😊.
Great video love my duossal 25. I use methyl hydrate as fuel very cheap 1 gallon for $10 at hardware/automotive store. Works well in cold weather (-20°C) does not produce any soot on cookware.
Thats great, I we pay like 15€ for a gallon of denatured ethanol which soot as h*ll. The fuel I prefer Is branded Tenol and are a mix of ethanol and methalol (could be methyl hydrate) and that does not soot either. Happy trails Jared!
I believe you can season the Duossal pan in the same manner as you would a standard stainless steel pan. Thanks for the info. You are the guy I got to for all things Trangia. Cheers from Montreal QC
Nice comparison of the frying pans. I think that the size and the burner made the biggest difference in the test. You definitely made me hungry with the video.
All I have is the old Swedish mess kit with the spirit burner and other European mess kits from Germany and Swiss. I've considering the Trangia 27 dussoul kit with spirit burner and the gas burner. I wish they had an multifuel unit. I use my old swede mess kit in central Idaho wilderness.
Wow, thats awesome. I habe two of the stainless M40 mess kits as well. Love them and use them now and then. The 27 is a nice kit. Used it alot this summer on a motorcycle adventure. I have a multifuel burner, the Trangia X2 which i used on the last summer motorcycle adventure. I heard that the X2 was out if stock recently. Happyvtrails and thanks for commenting 👍
Ok, first... a couple of questions about the Hard anodized and the duossal. The HA version, you can take down to the river, drop some sand in or stones and clean out with ease without making it ugly or destroy it. Can you do the same with the duossal? if not, it would be a huge difference in what you should consider when out camping and burning burgers like that 🥰 Ok, to the more important part.... please leave a gps koordinate to that tree.... I will sort that out in a second. Damn that was a huge knot I would love to get my hands on. You are absolutely correct... the last month or so I have spent alot of time woodcarving. Learning new skills are always important to me. But never would I guess that I would love it so much. So because you asked, I will promise to make a couple of videos of it, some of what I have made, and maybe one or two surprises for you 🍻 Cheers Tjommi.... your videos put me in a mood few other do. Thank you again for a great video Mattias ❤️
Thanks Tjommi, it's about time to reveal the new hobby of yours (ours), when hibernating from advrides. I know that Trangia recommend sand and water even for the most common UL pans. No problem with the Duossal either. None of the stoves will look like new over time, scratch and rub in a water stream is great when in need of saving fuel or detergents for the environment. That knot was on a tree a tad to missplaced for some action.
@@Braapncamp Well, for the curious type I think we have revealed some hints along the way, but I agree... time to showcase it all in true Norse style 🤣 They do? Aaaah.... that makes alot of sense actually. Nice to know that. Thank you
I actually have two of each 25 an 27 well an the mini an the triangle. But for each of the 25 models an 27. I got both in non stick. But separately purchased the doussal pot for each of them an a pan in doussal for each. Being the pots and pans separately is very cheap. To be able to have one tough stainless pot an pan or any config. But to at least have one item with each in the non-stick. Been happy with each of em since. Would of been nice if their were the options with the mini like there were for the other two models.
Thats a great set up! Nonstick is great on hikes, easier to clean and requires less butter/oil. I do not have nonstick oans but plan to ger one. As Yiu say, I like that spares och complemenring parts are cheap. Happy trails!
Ahh, thanks Kurt! Thats a great tip, will try that. Great pice of kit and love to cook on them. I haver some different fry pans, for the 25 I like the Trangia 24cm pan with a foldable handle. Use that pan in our van as well.
@@Braapncamp MThias just use salt dry. And rub it, it takes most things out on pots and pans, even on cast iron. Had many burners from little bluets camping gas to wax solid burners. But trangia i like as its more versatile and made in sweden not china like most things thesedays. So its well made.
I know that salt is used on cast iron pans, but have not tested it myself 👌 and i agree that Trangia is versatile and should be honored for never outsourcing the manufacturing. I have been in the factory when passing Trångsviken, a really great and wellcoming team, i also made some bargains at their second sorting shelf. This was before they made a store and museum at the place as well. They had a inofficial museum at their ofice conference room. Good people!
I am about to buy a new set, and i`m wondering what "duossal" is? Is there another name for it in the store? Maby it is steel inside the pan and aluminium outside?
I was just checking this out on the Trangia website, as I'm trying to decide which to get. The duossal is a laminate of aluminum on the outside and stainless steel on the inside, and is supposed to be scratch-resistant, easy to clean, durable, and able to be heated quickly. The site calls it a "robust pot for real outdoor cooking!"
Yes thats correct. This is the Duossal from the 90's. Todayvi think it is called Duossal 2.0 since Trangia started the production of these again. Stainless steel uminside and Aluminium outside. Will last "forever" a tad heavier than the alu ones. If weight is of importance i would go with the Hard Anodized verions.
When I use the gas burner I put a piece of flywire under the frypan which spreads the heat to the width of the windshield as I use a large frypan on my 27. Heats the entire width of the windshield no hot spot . Same principal as a toaster.Does not work with spirit burner as well as it interferes with airflow. Hopes this helps Cheers Steve.
@@Braapncamp I use a 30cm pan and it cooks right out to within 25mm of the edge. I use an old mesh rectangle from and old toaster. the corners jam into the windshield so it doesn't slip down. Great when more than two people. Stay safe. Cheers Steve from Aus.
Great video! How likely are the pans to warp? I have the non stick and while it's good for frying it has warped already and no longer a flat surface. I was wandering if either the duosol or HA are more robust to warp in high heat? Or similar in that respect as well? Advice would be appreciated, Thanks!!
Thanks, i have slight warping on the HA but not the Duossal, not sure though were the limits are. If it's heat or handling, not sure on my HA. Never cared about it 👍
Great video! Amusing to watch. I`m wondering if i should buy the gasburner or just keep using my alcohol burner. Seems like the only reason to have the gas one is faster to heat water, the burger cooking takes the same time?
Thanks! Great contribution to this kind of question. You are correct when comparing it is often only how long time it takes to boil water that is considered. Never real world cooking meals. However if there is longer cooking times like a stew or anything like that, te allo burner runs for approx 30 minutes and a gas burner runs as long as you have gas. Ofc you can have a second also burner ready or refill the single one when cooled down. But with 30 min runtime you get both coffee and burgers with no significant time difference. 😁 I almost never use the gasburner, while others love them. On summer mountain hikes gas is a good idea. I bought the gas burner while the kids was with us and we made meals for 4 at the Trangia 25, for convenience.
Or, if you are in a place that (for some arcane-seeming reason) does not allow the alcohol burner. I like my “doorknob” (old doorknobs are brass, and about that big) and have plenty of fuel for it, due to using shellac for a wood finish - but am planning to get the gas burner “just in case.”
I did buy the gas burner, and i must say yhat after used it 2 times i will NEVER gå back to liquid fuel anymore, unless i´m plannimg to climb Mount Everest or be at low temperatures 😀
Haha, thats great to hear. Good investment then! I can somewhat agree. I used tve gasburner on my summer trip this year an was really happy with that. Quick and predictable, both in use and fuel consumption. 💪🔥🙌
Thank you for all your great videos. Just wondering what you know about the 25-23 2.0 D and the wrinkles on the stainless inner pot I've seen on my new pots and was described in a printout with my pots? Is it as common and a non issue like they make it sound on the duossal page or is Amazon selling us defective seconds from trangia? Thanks for your help
Interesting, do You javexthat on the 2.0 Duossal? I have it on my Duossal from the -90's. Only visual i have never had problem with it. Thought though that this manufacturing problem was solved at the newer version.
Thanks! No it is a very hard surface i've not managed to scratch it at all. I have not been very careful with it either. Should not be compared to nonstick in this context.
I made popcorn in a ha pot and in a duossal pot. I ruined the ha pot, but the duossal was ok. So I only use duossal now. The ha pots are not nearly as strong.
@@Braapncamp They were made in exactly the same way under the same temperatures and with the same amount of oil etc. The only difference was the ha pot and the duossal pot. The Ha pot can't last nearly as much as people think, while it became very clear that nothing beats steel.
The sot comes from the bad red spirits we have in Scandinavia. I will try with water in it next time. Thank you for these useful tip you give to us audiens! Subscribed!
Thanks buddy! Yes it is the denaturating cemicals that soots. We have Tenol in Sweden that is made for alcohol stoves. That does not soot. The red T-sprit soots alot without water. I use both but prefer Tenol all day.
The red stuff sounds like “green” alcohol I prefer for shellac. (Less unpleasant if used indoors) It has larger ‘fire’ in the burner, but really soots up the pots I’ve used. The more usual denatured alcohol, bought in gallons (3.75 liter) has a lot more methanol, and little to no soot.
From South Africa busy paring a mini and a 25 together as a Trangia 2 burner cooker for vehicle camping The vehicle is a Vespa APE 3 wheel delivery "van" That works very well. Will test making a burger, egg & bacon on one while patty & onions on the other all cooking at the same time so that everything in the burger is hot.....

I use to boil water or heat up oil in the pan and then use the spatula to rub the hot spot. Some of it may never get clean color without using scotchbrite etc. That may scratch the surface though.
Sensational location. Difficult to concentrate on the pan comparison with such delicious looking food being cooked. I long for smell-O-vison! If you haven't done so already, would you consider making a video to explain the use & operation of Trangia's simmer ring. It often receives negative written reviews but I haven't yet found a video that solely explains it operation.
Thanks, in this video the simmering would have done good on both pans. But since I was curious on how the differen materials handle the cooking and how the surfaces affect or be affected I just let it go for full flames. I will have your suggestion in mind to see what i can do.
The “doorknob” (what I already have) looks more “my” speed for heating rate, but there are places that don’t allow alcohol stoves, pity - so the gas one needs to be bought and then packed as an alternative. Question: would MSR stow-away pots fit in the #27?
Hi again Dennis, I just tried if the MSR Stove Away pot 775ml could fit in the Trangia 27. It does not fit if with out cutting off the lock for the lid. I will post pictures in my YT community. Check out how it looks in my Community.
@@Braapncamp thanks. Have the three smaller pots, with the 1.1 liter currently having most of my “just in case” utensils. Since any meals I am likely to prepare will be of the simplest description, e.g. “boiled (converted) rice, with some canned meat and veggies added once the rice is mostly cooked” - I’m not sure just what I will need in terms of volume. I’m guessing a total of 5 - 600 mL, unless someone shows up to take “pot luck.” Then I might actually want the official Trangia pots. Am thinking either hard-anodized or duossal.
Yes very good. They are made of aluminiun so effects will be simular. I have a 27 trangia its very good device .ade in sweden. Only have alcohol burner that is very good have thought about getting a multi fuel to go with it but dont know. You can always use a different frying pand of different materials i have thought of a cast iron one if you dont need to caryit , this should work well.
I have the multifuelburner as well. Mostly because it's preppy. I prefer the gasburner if I nor use the alcoburner. I have a Trangia 24cm frypan as well which works great on the 25 👌🔥🤌
Voilà indeed! And bon appétit. I enjoyed your vidéo, thanks. I have just bought my first Trangia (just the alcohol stove, not the whole cook set) I have other cooking gear but in lockdown I couldn't buy replacement gaz so wanted fuel stove backup. It made me think about seasoning your pans. Can you not do that, to stop the food sticking to the pan? Watching also made my mouth water, and I must visit Sweden, la Suède, one day. Santé...
Hi! Great with a back up burner. Better be preppy 👌 The pans is actually seasoned even if it does not really work as with Cast Iron I could ofc do better temperaturen control than I did butvwanter to rest the different materials an how itvhandle the heat. Burger was good though! You are welcome to la Suède, skål or santé! 🍺🤌🔥
I wish Trangia would make a slightly larger version than their 25. I’ve used the 27 for two people, but I’m concerned the 25 would be too small to comfortably make a meal for my family.
Hey "Ullbrottaren", thanks for your comment. What I did when the kids hiked and camped with us, was to complement the 25 with the larger Trangia 24cm fry pan. That made the difference! I have an older video showing that in my playlist for Trangia/outdoor cooking. It has a folding handle and fits well with in the stoves strap when packed. Another thing to consider is to get the Trangia Triangle (when it hopefully does comeback) plus an extra also burner to get a second stove, for more convenient cooking. If not the Triangle the T28 is a nice complement as well, that combines a solo kit with a second stove.
Hi Claus, We use a product called Tenol (especially developed for alco stoves) it is ethanol with a mix of 5% ish methanol. Otherwise we use pure denaturated ethanol (T-röd), soots alot. I asume that you could find similar alcohols.
@@Braapncamp Hey Mattias And thanks for the quick reply. :) I've Never seen that in Denmark, but it could Also be that is a because I wasn't looking for it before. I'll definitely try and Find it, and spot ln the pots really is quite annoying, and like you i appreciate the silence of the alcohol stoves :) Ps. Regarding your noisy multifuel stoves, there is a guy who makes some pretty effective silencer caps for them. Polar dawg i think he is called. He's apparently having some production issues right now, but he might be one to have in mind for the future, if you want to quiet down the multifuel stove :) Mange Venlige Hilsner :) Claus
@@LexLuthor1234I know that You won't find Tenol or even T-röd outside Sweden. Maybe T-Röd at Biltema if You have that store like Norway have. But You may find something similar to Tenol. Otherwise you can mix the alcohol with 5-10% water to which reduce the soot. I'm aware of the silencer to the multifuel burner, the few times I use that burner i could live with it as is though. Great vid, ser gott ut :) would you quickly throw the steps you recommend on cleaning after cooking, say if you’re on a badplats area? I have the 25 with gas burner. Tack!
In this case I just boiled water in the pans and dried them off. Pour the water somewhere where it filters good, not in the lake at an area for bathing. You can clean with water and sand as well or with a soap and water.
Does Duossal distribute the heat better? If not if would be good if Trangia improves this technology. All the heat is in the centre. Would be worth a bit extra.
Hi Oliver, the thought is that Duossal should distribut hear better. That was one of the ideas behind the design and ofc as well that the cooking surface is tougher and easier to clean. It seems to work somewhat better regarding heat distribution but still got a hotspot.
@@BraapncampStainless steel is not a good heat conductive material, aluminum is. But SS makes a better cooking surface because it is non reactive. Expensive cookware like All Clad are made like this. Aluminum bottom for heat distribution sandwiched between two layers of SS for ease of use and cleaning.

From South Africa... HA! Just discovered the " holy-grail" of Trangia cooking.... Not the mighty hamburger, not even the delectable Swiss goulash..... No-no-no.... Something far more humble and delicious than those aristocratic creations.... I'm talking about the common, humble SLICE OF BREAD 🍞.. make that 2 slices of bread, cooked into the perfect, UNTAINED browned, crispy crunchy, un-burned 👌 TOAST .... beat that! If you want I'm happy to send you my secrete ... , but for now, a small Trangia tip, you know how quickly the pot grip goes from cold to YEOWCH hot 🔥 by just holding ingredients the pot / pan while you stir? Well a small plastic tub with some water to put it in solves that... happy cookin 😋
Thanks! I know that old trick, we learnt that in scouts as kids. I never practise that knowledge though 👀💪🤠🔥We only need to do that if we use denaturated "T-Röd" ethanol. We also have a alcohol fuel developed for alcohol stoves, "Tenol", ethanol mixed with a few % methanol. This Tenol fuel does not soot. This time i did not use Tenol. Happy trails!
Interesting. I wonder if one of the Berniedawg caps would provide sufficient diffusion with the X2 Multifuel burner without weakening the lower bowl? Also, most importantly, what did your wife think of her burger? Thank you.
Hi, not sure what you mean with the Berniedawg caps. The silencers? Never had problems with the X2, but I only use it on "longer" where petrol/white gas is a better option. It needs more attention on service though. Wife liked the burger, she had to take a big chunk due to the height (mozzarella on top) so we cut that from the directors cut. 👀😂
I’m aware of the silencing, but BD did mention with some of his caps that they could broaden the flame somewhat as an added feature of his caps. The other option would be to make a homemade diffuser that would stand 2-3 cm above the flame to broaden it. Some experimentation would need to be done to get the right height and diffusion.
Hi Chad, it is a GSI foldable spatula. It's great. For the 27 i made a spatula that fits inside. Just bought a standard "plastic" spatula from closest grocery store and cut down the handle and blade until it fit. Works great as well.
First time noticing your channel. So a new subscriber. I am going to get a Trangia set at some point but haven't made up my mind which yet. Aluminium would be okay especially for weight. Still not sure. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Bon appetite
Thanks much appreciated! It all depends on what type of adventures you will use it and if you hike solo, two or family. Have like all types and different material since I have bought them under 25 years first as family hiking stove and then for just two of us or me solo. If weight is no matter and You will use it for car camping I would suggest the 25 Duossal, if You ar hiking pick an aluminum 27 or 25 pending on how many you are cooking too. It is truly an iconic stove and very versatile, when not in use for hiking it is a true prepping item as well. I use them for every type of hike. If I go light I use the mini T28.
@@Braapncamp I hike and cycle tour. Mostly by myself and use a trangia but in a bushbox stove, I carry both for use where one is better over the other. Sometimes I use gas burners. I want to keep the weight down and size too. 4 panniers and handlebar bag fill up quick for long tours. I got a trailer for touring EU but covid got in the way so we all stayed home and enjoyed the countryside locally like the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales and Lancashire moors and coast. I'm getting in some cycling practice for when we're released into Europe and I can complete my Edinburgh to Athens tour. The Trangia set will be all I want to take, so I must be sure. Time seems to have demonstrated it's use and longevity. So 25 or 27?
Wow, what an adventure! Any specific route? The areas you mention that yiu have done instead looks amazing as well. Never neen to UK but see alot thru YT. One day! For a trip like this i would have chosen the 27 HA with possible one pot and the frypan in non stick. But non stick is not needed if you do not like it. The 25 is always more roomy to cook on but as i see it you need lower weight and less volume. To choose a trangia 27 or 25 over other stoves (that just boils water) must be based on that You actually cook or like to cook. And if you do, i can't really see any other stove that are more complete compare to weight and function. It is also a very robust design and as well storm proof (not to forget). The 25 is rather bulky when it comes down to pack it in motorcycle or bicycle bags. It takes easy the majority of the space in the bag it packs down in.
@@Braapncamp route relies on places to stay and or wildcamp. I was thinking of passing through, Holland, Southern Germany, Austria, and dropping down through the Bulkans and see a friend in Croatia before going through Albania and Thesolonika to Greece. Why Greece? I have read so much about since Homer in school. For such a trip my bike trailer is required so wright is not so much a problem although it is on hills, I may bypass mountains a bit on the train.
@Mark's Adventures Difficult then, I like better to cook on the 25 even if I'm solo you to the better space/volume. But the 27 should be the best option of them. Go HA or Duossal, I would have gone with the HA due to weight. Kettle, the Multi Disc and safe fuel bottle are great optionals that I also would go with. Gas or alcohol burner, thats another topic. I like the alco burner since it's quiet and super simple, but gas offer better control.
Hey Mattias, nice comparison and both of the burgers looks delicious which is the most important point. I own a 27 HA as well and meanwhile with Duossal pots ;-) Take care, Franz bugikraxn
Hello Franz, good to see You here. You channel is great! Yes, the simple answer on the question I got is that both type of pans does what it is supposed to do ☝️😁. The question is more what material appeal to each one, weight and pack volume. Stay safe healthy and happy trails!
Own my 25 for roughly 30 years. I’ve use others but the simple trangia just can’t be beat. Just need an excuse to get the 27 in stainless please Santa!

I'm so happy Trangia made a stainless steel option. I prefer stainless steel for cooking, and I love Trangia. I'll never give up my 27 Duossal.
Yes, the Duossal is really nice. Best of the two for pancakes 😁😜
I bought a 27. The pots are so small. I don’t know how to cook with it.
I agree that the 27 need some cooks to get used too. If you feel it too small, just try a swap in a fb group or somewhere, always someonte that will downsize from a 25.
I got a trangia 25 with duossal and I love it
I bet You do! Excellent choice 👌🔥🤠
Not really tried that but all these pans get more nonstick the more they are used as frypans.
@@Braapncamp True - but the seasoning accelerates the process. I have three anodized pans (including the one from my 27-1 HA cookset). I found out how to do it from the Firebox Stove channel if you're interested in the details. It really works a treat!
@@fin3572 Great tip this! I have done it on the Duossal frypan, will try it at the HA as well. Alot of great stuff on the Firebox Stove channel. 👌
Will do that. Oven works well at 350F/200C. I have Olive, Peanut, and Grapeseed oil on hand. I can get others if needed.

Gillar dina sköna klipp Mattias. Stämning, stillhet och njuta i fulla drag av Guds sköna vinterskrud. Trangia är ett fantastisk fint företag med en imponerade lönsamhet de senaste tio åren. Take care!
Tack Pelle!
So useful to see both sizes next to each other and the gas/alcohol comparison. Great video thanks 😊
Happy that You found it helpful 👍 Happy Trails!
Hi Mattias,
Both cookers did a great job because my mouth was watering just at the thought of tasting those burgers 🍔.
Nonstick frypan could be considered,
I enjoy these videos. I love my trangia mini and 27. Especially for cooking the 27 can't be beat. Greetings from Wyoming.
Thanks, mini is a favourite for sure and capable with some practice. Wyoming looks beauitful for hikes 👌
Thanks! A great choise. I started with a 25 and then a mini, then a Triangle, then a 27 😂🙌

@@Braapncamp another name for methyl hydrate is gas line antifreeze. Thanks for producing great content.

Ok, first... a couple of questions about the Hard anodized and the duossal. The HA version, you can take down to the river, drop some sand in or stones and clean out with ease without making it ugly or destroy it. Can you do the same with the duossal? if not, it would be a huge difference in what you should consider when out camping and burning burgers like that 🥰
Ok, to the more important part.... please leave a gps koordinate to that tree....

But trangia i like as its more versatile and made in sweden not china like most things thesedays.
So its well made.
I know that salt is used on cast iron pans, but have not tested it myself 👌 and i agree that Trangia is versatile and should be honored for never outsourcing the manufacturing.
Thats correct!
Thats a great tips! On my larger 24cm Trangia frypan there is a thicker bottom. Not by much but it helps to spread the heat better.
@@Braapncamp I use a 30cm pan and it cooks right out to within 25mm of the edge. I use an old mesh rectangle from and old toaster. the corners jam into the windshield so it doesn't slip down. Great when more than two people. Stay safe. Cheers Steve from Aus.
Thanks for clarification. Happy trails with hopefully other stuff than drytech meals ☝️😁
Never cared about it 👍
Thanks!

Thanks for the video! How resilient is the HA surface in practice? Is it possible to scratch it like you can do with a nonstick surface?
Thats interesting, I have made popcorn as well, only in the Duossal, never in any of the others. Great to know. Did it get too hot or what happened?
@@Braapncamp They were made in exactly the same way under the same temperatures and with the same amount of oil etc. The only difference was the ha pot and the duossal pot. The Ha pot can't last nearly as much as people think, while it became very clear that nothing beats steel.
Yes it is. Ethanol with something like 10% methanol.

It has larger ‘fire’ in the burner, but really soots up the pots I’ve used.

Hmm, not sure. I have a 775ml Stove away at home and could test if that one fits. 👌
@@Braapncamp thanks. Planning to get the #27 set, or the parts I don't have yet.
I’m guessing a total of 5 - 600 mL, unless someone shows up to take “pot luck.”
Then I might actually want the official Trangia pots. Am thinking either hard-anodized or duossal.
The Duossal is probably the best for yiu use if you go Trangia. Pending on much You will backpack with it.
@@Braapncamp good ideas! thanks for the tips!
Hey Mattias and thank you for the video :)
What was the name of the alcohol that you used, which produced less soot?
Thank you!
Claus
Hi Claus, We use a product called Tenol (especially developed for alco stoves) it is ethanol with a mix of 5% ish methanol. Otherwise we use pure denaturated ethanol (T-röd), soots alot. I asume that you could find similar alcohols.
@@Braapncamp Hey Mattias And thanks for the quick reply. :)
I've Never seen that in Denmark, but it could Also be that is a because I wasn't looking for it before. I'll definitely try and Find it, and spot ln the pots really is quite annoying, and like you i appreciate the silence of the alcohol stoves :)
Ps. Regarding your noisy multifuel stoves, there is a guy who makes some pretty effective silencer caps for them. Polar dawg i think he is called. He's apparently having some production issues right now, but he might be one to have in mind for the future, if you want to quiet down the multifuel stove :)
Mange Venlige Hilsner :)
Claus
@@LexLuthor1234I know that You won't find Tenol or even T-röd outside Sweden. Maybe T-Röd at Biltema if You have that store like Norway have. But You may find something similar to Tenol. Otherwise you can mix the alcohol with 5-10% water to which reduce the soot.
I'm aware of the silencer to the multifuel burner, the few times I use that burner i could live with it as is though. Next time You visit Sweden be sure to bunk up with Tenol 😁👌
@@Braapncamp Hello again :)
T-rød i think we have, although i am using bio ethanol at current (but that also soots a lot, unfortunately).
Next time i visit sweden i must bring a big car i think, and stock up loooooads of tenol haha ,D
Thanks again for the advice :)
Claus
UPDATE: I found tenol in Denmark, if you search for it as t-tenol, it can be found. I also found this test video though, which is interesting too in this regard. th-cam.com/video/XGarbC4_h_k/w-d-xo.html
So, if you forgot the second Trangia burner, how can you compare them? I stopped at 1:15... Aaaand out.
No worries, it was a fun comparison to do anyway. It became gas vs alco and also a comparison in sizes between 27 and 25. Happy trails! 💪🤠🔥
Good day to you.
I am a senior rider on HONDA Cross Cub from Japan.
Enjoying touring ,camping and video uploading.
This is so nice cooking video
Awesome!!
Thank you so much for sharing!!
Have a nice day my friend!!
Good morning! That sounds cool, if You upload videos I will have a watch then 👌. To moto camp or just hike outdoors is a great way to enjoy the life 💪🔥
From South Africa...
Toast sounds great done that as well! I do not let the handle sit on the pan for longer times just grab and release now and then. Happy chef'ing!
Bra video. Jag älskar min Trangia 27 Duossal. Jag bor i Borås. Med vänliga hälsningar, Artur ;)
Tack Artur! Ja det är ett riktigt bra och mångsidigt kök.
Hi, which camera do you use? A gopro 7?
Hi, Yes thats correct!
excellent.... I bought a good Swedish product, and will come to use it in your wonderful country next year, hopefully..
That sounds like a great plan, are you going to hike? Happy trails and chef with style ☝️😁
Great comparison but on the use of the Trangia add 2 to 3 drops of water to the meths while cooking and that will cut down on the carbon buildup.
Some experimentation would need to be done to get the right height and diffusion.
aha, thanks for the explanation. That could solve some of the hotspoting.
Thank you a very interesting review on the Trangia. It also made my mouth water 🏕️
Thanks! A very nice day outdoors 💪🔥🤌
who made the spatula?
Hi Chad, it is a GSI foldable spatula. It's great. For the 27 i made a spatula that fits inside. Just bought a standard "plastic" spatula from closest grocery store and cut down the handle and blade until it fit. Works great as well.
Greeting from Australia, Those burger look great Trangia wins again fantastic stove system
Thanks! Tasted great outdoors 🤌👌. Few small outdoors stoves are as versatile!
Both are good! What setup to choose depend on the mood. Great video! Thanks!👍
Thats right! I pack the one best suited for the adventure that calls. Happy trails Ed!
@@Braapncamp Thanks Mattias! ! Same for You!
Thank you
Thanks for your feedback, happy trails! 🤠🔥

Hi! It is the Gränsforsbruks Outdoor Axe.
Great video! What a beautiful place to cook burgers!
Thanks Eddie! So nice facing the sun this time of year.
Hey Mattias, nice comparison and both of the burgers looks delicious which is the most important point. I own a 27 HA as well and meanwhile with Duossal pots ;-)
Take care, Franz bugikraxn
Hello Franz, good to see You here. You channel is great! Yes, the simple answer on the question I got is that both type of pans does what it is supposed to do ☝️😁. The question is more what material appeal to each one, weight and pack volume. Stay safe healthy and happy trails!
Own my 25 for roughly 30 years.
I’ve use others but the simple trangia just can’t be beat.
Just need an excuse to get the 27 in stainless please Santa!

I think the big competition is, if the Mattias burger is better than the @nomadSweden ADV burger 🍔 🤔🤔🤔😜
Haha, hmm we should be out doing outdoor burgers alot more often! ADV-burgers, Outdoor Axe burgers, Trangia burgers etc. In this moment I'm planning wich stove to take on my Norway trip, what grocerys to pack etc. You know there will be braapy outdoor cooking along the trail! Starting the trip next week 💪❤🇳🇴
Given this is Sweden, shouldn't the test have been done with meatballs? Did your wife get the burger with all the pepper (oh sh*t!)?
Haha, no that wouldn't be nice 😂. But if I had asked I think she would have chosen the pepperburger 🔥. Meat alls would definitely have been nice, I have done meatballs om the Trangia, with pasta 👌. Thanks!
Haha 27 vs 25, HA vs duossal, sprit vs gas.
