    The decision to have Butler portray Feyd as unstable, but intelligent and honourable is way better than the conniving and cowardly version of the books and 1984. Feyd stands as a a true equal to Paul with true potential to rise like Paul, rather than a dishonest cheat who relies on poison.

    • @ryanarment5393
      @ryanarment5393 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +38

      He wasn’t a conniving coward in the book. He was every bit as cunning, intelligent, as he was here. He was planning to eliminate his uncle and was moving his people into positions of power within the harkonnen chain of command. To that end he willingly faced a gladiator who wasn’t drugged, fought him man to man even after surprise reveal the man was an atreides soldier trained by halleck and idaho. He instructed that the man be given an honorable burial after his death, that he be buried in tact and with his blade.
      Feyd also deduced what his uncle’s plans for him, arrakis, and the throne were during their confrontation after the failed assasination attempt. The attempt only failed because thufir warned the baron about it.
      The ‘84 portrayl by sting has no defence. That was just bad writing, and casting across the board.

      Could you say more? Saw the movie. How do we get from it being a legitimate assassination attempt, to the Baron offering him Arrakis and the imperial throne. It seems like the movie deliberately portrayed the events as *not* an assassination attempt, but a genuine challenge to accomplish further goals.

      @@bawzzzz The Baron had no children, he was aware of, so he could never take the throne as the throne passes from parent to child. Offering it to Feyd was an attempt to secure Feyd's loyalty after the Baron tried to kill him, because the Baron knew Feyd was planning to usurp him. The Baron knew Rabban was worthless except as a blunt instrument.
      But this is all done in about 5 paragraphs in Dune so it isn't all that well fleshed out so do not expect much depth to it. Everything else is stuff added by Brian or by fans.

      @@bawzzzz that is true, feyd’s assasination only failed because hawat warned the baron. Thufir was trying to get at the emperor and destroy the harkonnens from within. The baron wanted to place a harkonnen on the throne. From the beginning that was his end goal. He was too old and was too unpopular to accomplish it for himself. Feyd was precisely the person to accomplish it. He just needed to raise feyd’s profile in the landsraad, and he needed to keep feyd from prematurely killing him.

Its sad because He is a great actor, one of my favourites. But it seems to be a common theme with actors now days, they suddenly rise, star in 2-3 major films then theyre gone. Unlike the old days where an actor would steadily work for 10 years before they got their big break then remain there for another 10 years. Its worse for actresses. Above all because I think it should give an aura of authority but at the same time a perhaps young face at the beginning, since I saw James Mcvoy it has been difficult for me not to see him as Leto II, although the series was not the best, I think he did an excellent job, so maybe someone who looks like him
