    Nice teear down mate. FYI code check comes back with EVE Power cells, LiFePO4, 3.2v, 12/Jun/23 production. (12mth+ old cells thought may have just been sitting in storage etc) BMS = No name, '4-series 12v lithium battery protection board BMS', discharge 150amps with balacing, charging current 100A'.

    Great video.
    I think the issues that most people have with the cheaper batteries is the quality control.
    If it was possible to open 100 of them and see if they are all the same.
    For the price they are now they are the same as a AGM and have more capacity and a longer life (providing the BMS doesn’t die)

      I did a discharge test on the two Kings 120 Ah batteries on my 24 volt system and they come back at more than the rated capacity.
      I will do a test on this battery and see if it preforms above the specs as well.

    • @explorermates5655
      @explorermates5655 10 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I also did discharge testing and both of my new 120's and they exceeded their rating, one at 125Ah and the other 127Ah. So far so good with mine, certainly the price was right and they are holding up performance wise as well. I have an older one that still measures out at 124Ah after 18 months.

    Great work Glen, definitely better than the previous one, didn't like much of what I saw in the other one. I think I'd still be tempted to drill a small hole in the top of the case and fill it full of resin, that way I'd be sure it's not going to be damaged by corrugations.....now all you have to do is rewind the video and the battery would be put back together again and can go back in you power box ! 👍👍👍🤠😎

    • @TheSimpleLivingAussie
      @TheSimpleLivingAussie  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      I would probably not want to fill it full of resin as it would cover the pressure release valves on the top of the cells as well as enclose the cells which would increase the chance of heat build up.
      The cells were that secure in the case I had to cut the case completely apart to get the cells out. I would doubt they would move around on corrugated roads. I would be more worried about shaking the BMS, regardless of what brand of battery used.

    G'day
    From everything I've seen over the last few years, the 120ah / 200ah / 300ah LiFePo4 batteries seem to be awesome value for money
    I've personally had their 300ah LiFePo4 battery (and 3000w inverter) running everything in my entire off grid cabin for the last couple of years
    (One thing you didn't mention with the previous 60ah LiFePo4 battery was that the cells were mounted on their side in the housing, with the pressure relief valves facing sideways, rather than up, which could be considered a bigger issue than the foam block on top of the 120ah cells)
    Cheers

    what is the discharge rate of the kings lithium battery is it safe to draw 2000 watts from an inverter off there batteries for say 30 minutes?

    • @TheSimpleLivingAussie
      @TheSimpleLivingAussie  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It depends on the battery you have. The Kings website has all the specs on their batteries so best to check on the Kings website.
      But for this battery (120 Ah) the BMS says 150 amps draw but the battery is labels 120 amps maximum draw, I guess maybe due to the cable size they have used ??
      So going on that you multiply the volts by the amps and that will give you the maximum wattage you can draw.
      So for this battery the nominal voltage is 12.8 volts multiplied by the maximum output current of 120 amps (12.8 X 120) which gives you 1,536 watts. So you will not be able to pull the full 2,000 watts from your inverter running this battery. This will also differ slightly as the more current you draw the voltage will sag.
      If you wanting to draw 2,000 watts from your inverter then you divide the inverter watts by the battery volts which will give you the amps the battery will need to output. So 2,000 watts divided by 12.8 volts gives a rough current draw of 156 amps. So you will need two of these batteries to safely run your 2,000 watt inverter.
      Hope this helps.

      @ thanks you so much I’ve got the kings 200 amp lithium I’ll check there website for the exact specs

    • @TheSimpleLivingAussie
      @TheSimpleLivingAussie  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@harrisongauci2487 Usually most Lithium (LFP) battery manufacturers go by the figurers of the amp hour value will be the same current draw value (usually)
      So 120 Ah battery will give 120 amps. Your 200 Ah battery will give 200 amps which is 2560 watts. So you will be able to run your 2,000 watt inverter from the 200 Ah battery. But still check Kings website, just in case.

    Things that would make it better are a small air gap between each cell. The temp sensor should be attached to either the anode or cathode providing a direct link to the inside of the battery, not the plastic casing as plastic is a poor conductor. The BMS voltages on a battery when its sitting idle is not really as important as balancing voltages when the battery is being charged and discharged.

    interesting , kings owes you LOL.
    problem for me is cycles are only 1800 to 2000 and they say quality bms that could mean anything , low , mid , high ?
    The price is good i just dont want to have to end up buying replacement batteries sooner that i hope for, im sure kings will be even better again in the future.
    Been looking at itech etc apparently top quality bms etc yeh costs more though.
    The kings 300amp were the ones i was looking into, by memory in the details of some kings it says high quality bms love to know the manufacturer

    • @TheSimpleLivingAussie
      @TheSimpleLivingAussie  10 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Even if one got 1,800 cycle for the battery, that is nearly five years of fully discharging and recharging the battery everyday. So if it only last five years, for the price, that is realy good. I was flat out getting three years out of a good quality AGM battery.
      Most people don't fully cycle their battery everyday so for most people it will last longer than they will have the battery for, before buying the next new latest battery on the market or selling their vehicle or caravan with the battery still in it.
      The question is the BMS and how long they will last. There has been other manufacturers that charge three times the price, have their batteries fail so it is hard to know how long these batteries will last. I don't think they have been out in the market long enough to see if we truly get our 2,000 - 5,000 cycles claimed, time will tell though.
      I have three friends that have the 300 Ah Kings batteries and they all are running without any issues, so far ? I myself are tempted to get the 300 Ah and give it a try 👍

    Great vid mate 👍 just 1 thing, when you tested each cell for their individual volts, all the cells are still linked so it will show the same 3.331v no matter where you test. For you to get an individual cell reading, you'll need to remove the connectors between each cell first.

    • @TheSimpleLivingAussie
      @TheSimpleLivingAussie  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      You can read the individual cell voltages when the cells are wired in a series connection, provided you prob the right terminals. A good example is the balance leads read each cell individually when the pack is still linked together.
      If you watch my teardown video I did on the 60 Ah battery, you can see the battery cells voltages were all different when I preformed the voltage test with the pack still assembled. It's kinda hard to explain, but it can be done.
