Man they have improved a lot. I’m glad they fixed a lot of the issues like the hing pin inserts being too short. If your gonna use the forward position with the shorty lipo you would want to put a 20 gram weight in the rear to help balance it out.
AMain's videos just hit different. Brett's delivery, presentation, and the overall video structure is on point, I really look forward to any and all videos by you guys! I've been racing my 3S Typhon for fun with the 1/8th scale buggies but when I finally do a proper kit build I may be looking at one of these things. I definitely like Tekno's 1/10th scale SCTs but never considered them for 1/8th scale for some reason. Thanks for the review!
I'm glad to see GRP tires getting some love! They are a fantastic value. You need to add threadlock to the "Kit Building Essentials" section of the description 🤣
I think a 1900kV motor would be a better choice for this particular track condition and layout. Don’t really need too much power on such loose surfaces.
Thanks for this review. It’s currently at the top of my list for next years buggy. I’m just curious how the car will go on the higher grip stuff we have here in the UK - Astro turf and mixed surfaces. I get the impression it’s a car built with low grip and dirt surfaces in mind.
Thanks for the video! What I am interested in is turning this platform into a full send basher. What is the largest motor and esc combo that will fit in this chassis?
the bodies marshal has been painting for Amain as of late look a lot better with yellow wheels... just my opinion :) sidenote: how did the nb4 radio feel on the cars?
I heard the AE wasn't very good out of the box so instead of building it stock, I spent lots of money on parts to follow a a pro's setup sheet. In the end, it performed good, but cost a lot of money. The tekno on the other hand is really good out of the box and is a little easier to drive. -Brett
@@AMain_Hobbies Awesome thanks so much for that reply Brett that's fantastic information. My next purchase is the TEKNO truggy so I'm really looking forward to it now.. Cheers.
Honestly the nitro looked better. 1900kv would have made the ebuggy less likely to spin the tires and stay planted as it wouldn't be over shooting the jumps

I have 2 sets of grp tires and don't like them at all. J concepts and proline are the best, in my opinion. However, I mostly use vp pro and dialed rc. Which are both pretty good.
I'm hearing you mate.. I'm 50 and never had a pistol transmitter until I got back in to the hobby 5 years ago and even though I'm used to it I still think with a stick I'd be way better and especially in braking.. Pushing forward with my index /trigger finger isn't natural to me.. I wish spektrum made a stick radio that would work with all the current and recent models of receivers
$700 is not a bad price. When you buy an Arrma Typhon 6s, you need to make some upgrades. With this Tecno, you don't need to do that. This Tecno 2.2 will keep an eye on him, I'm really interested
700 for the kit, motor combo $350, servo $150, wheels and tires $40, so that build is actually more like $1,200- $1,300 and that still doesn’t include the rx/tx
@@trashbag8124 because they don't release a new kit every 10 months, they increased the price for the new kits, higher price for replacement parts, I am starting to look elsewhere for my next kit.
I know video doesn't translate. It doesn't look super impressive here. How would those lap times compare to a 6s basher? A Fireteam for example. I'm familiar with it and to me it seems to be a decent handling truck or buggy. It would be cool if you could bring a common non racing rig to compare with in a video like this for us non racer types watching. If anything just so we'd have more appreciation for what we're watching.
Probably best selling at AMain Hobbies in Chico, California USA. Is that a problem? They run their own business so I'm sure they have all the sales numbers. Why would they be lying about it?
LOVE allll the love Tekno is getting lately!!!!
I love that you guys take the time to review some of these kits and add all the "outtakes".

Placed my order last night🤘🤘🤘
Excellent video once again. Great team over there at Amain.

Just got mine. Waiting on esc and motor to get it built and on the track

Nice looking kit. Im a bit of an X-ray fan, but this is tempting...

Even tho the MBX8r has been out for a while. Can you please do a review on it a test?
How does it compare to that expensive associated you built a couple years ago Brett?

Is anyone seeing any demonstrative track-time differences between the 2.1 and the 2.2?

So cool
May I ask 1. What is the model of the shock absorber? 2. What is the purchase link for the shock absorber?
The shocks come included with the car. You can buy the parts to the shocks separately, but it would be expensive.

oh no scarjo!
Call me old school, but it's much easier to feather the throttle with a thumb on a stick, than a finger on a trigger.

I think a lot of people find a trigger easier if they grew up playing video games, most modern racing games use triggers for control now.
What about kyosho 1/8 buggies ? Noticed you dont do pr for them …. Be great to see the difference as kysho is faster / better quality etc. 🙋♂️🤷♂️

That's a Team Associated design. I recognize that anywhere
