    Thanks for the informative review!!
I find it interesting though that Joshua velour said the exact opposite regarding the difference between the a4000 a8000 when it comes to soundstage.
He said that the a8000 actually has a smaller soundstage!!!

I think honestly, people's definition of sound stage can be quite different.
I come from a background with over 15 years of wind band music.
For me, I define good sound stange if the music has good width, height, depth and positioning.
Generally, very basic definition would include the earphones sounding wide and tall. But I find that this isn't the complete picture when it comes to sound stage.
You need good depth perception as well so you can listen to deeper layers in the music and this adds a sense of realism, more 3D-ness.
And of course, positioning. If you have instrument tethering on the edge of the music naturally it would sound more expansive as well.
The A8000, honestly is very similar to the A4000 but with a vastly more refined tonality. It is fast, quick and detailed. Some would say that the bass might be too fast.
For me it is a good recepie for impressive sound stage :)

The a4000 is a nice earphone to get along with, it is like a ruggedized IEM with it's coating and light weight. Many people are confounded by the cable as it looks like the cable off a cheap power tool. It is actually very high quality, very soft, light and drapes like fabric but best of all refuses to tangle. I wish they sold them separately. It has s kind of transparent tone which I found boring at first and I didn't use it for a while. I tried again and started to like it for what it is. Eventually it became my daily general purpose earphone.

Only if they are in the A4000 case. The A8000 case is of anodized aluminium. It might dent haha

Any iem very close to hd800?

    • @SuperChonk
      @SuperChonk  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

In terms of tonality, I'd say kind of similar but not exactly. The HD800 series have a vastly wider soundstage due to physical size.
Just a disclaimer, I much prefer the HD600 over the HD800.
I prefer the A4000/A8000 tonality over the HD800 or HD800S.
The HD800 sounds a little too wide with excellent positioning but I just found them a little too wide for me. It's kind of unnatural.
The A4000/A8000 is smaller sounding as it is an IEM and physically smaller. I can see how some people say that they are similar to the HD800 and I am inclined to agree but because sound stage is smaller it is also a little realistic to me.
