    Cori, I just want to say, after studies in Pre-Physical Therapy, a certification in Massage Therapy, and a Master's Degree in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture - you lay out information on calisthenics warmp, activation, form, and strength training better than anyone I've met. So many people water down their videos that the information is not concentrated and voluminous enough that both an understanding of the topic as well as it's context is achieved. You give a lot of information in a short amount of time, and I LOVE IT. I've had a really hard time with developing an ongoing progressive calisthenics training, and from your videos (I've watched like 6-7 tonight) I believe now I know why! THANK YOU for doing what you are doing! I really appreciate you!

    It took me 1 year of working at it every day to do my first push up. I started with wall push ups, then girl push ups. I was really hard but it has been a life long goal. Learning how great push ups are for you and its a full body workout and my husband cheering me on with Gods strength I did it. I am still continuing to do it.

    Hi Cori. Excellent video and great technique. You are a terrific teacher. If would be great if you could expand a bit on hand position. I was trained to rotate my palms outward about 15 degrees when I do full extension push-ups. That hand position is very comfortable and I'm wondering how that might impact my workout doing push-ups compared to your vertical palm alignment, parallel to the body.

    • @redefiningstrengthOC
      @redefiningstrengthOC  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      My pleasure! I would consider diet too. Diet has a lot to do with how much we gain or lose. And you could consider some upper body cardio post lifting. In terms of spot reduction as we know it, it doesn't exist. HOWEVER, studies have show that if we target an area to mobilize the fatty acids there THEN use cardio or compound moves to utilize those mobilized fatty acids, we can lose weight off of more specific areas aka spot lipolysis.

    I do pushups, I change the angle, and distance of my arms. It's
    this Muscular angulation that increases strength AND definition.

      Because her elbows tilt outwards. Elbows shouldn't tilt. At 01:08 look her forearm is bent outwards. It shouldn't bend at all. It should be completely straight, neither bending backwards nor bending sideways.
      A good way of avoiding this is to keep your hands beside your nipples.

      Hi, I'm a leftie too. I tend to do the 'hook' where my hand and wrist are sitting above my writing so I can keep the letters uptight and not smudge the ink as my hand drags across the page. It can cause a lot of tension in my forearm and hamper my wrist mobility. Do you do the hook too? Stretching the forearm, flexing and rolling the wrist and taking breaks when writing a lot helps. Good luck.
