Glad to hear you're feeling more positive about your game despite dropping shots, the positive mental attitude bodes well for Open qualifying. Got my fingers crossed for you Rick, go out there and crush it!
Good luck as always, Rick...I enjoy the videos a lot...You have the skills, and it seems that you are gaining confidence...believe in yourself, it's an important part of the game...
Rick, I love the videos, they are entertaining and a great help. One thing I would love to see you and Pete do, as sort of a fun challenge round, would be playing a round with game improvement clubs. I'd like to see how pros would score with those game improvement style clubs. Good luck on your quest and in everything else. Regards, Lee
Played there twice before. A totally amazing course. I would say one of 'the' best I have ever played! We went there this year on our society tour. Kirkby Lonsdale is another great track and Grange-Over-Sands if you are looking to play some golf in the south lakes.
Great attitude Rick! You were literally beaming the entire time. I actually thought you made the cut based on how positive you were. Well played. Keep it going and best of luck in Open qualifying.
Love the style of video: fresh and smooth at once. Agree about the beauty of the course and the club house. Looks very tasteful. I'm glad you're hitting it well, just in time for the Open :-) Just make sure you know your misses for Fairhaven and wherever round 2 is. Gotta have a good game plan - Jordan always does :-) Keep on rockin' this, Rick!
indeed a beautiful course, I've been on this one last year :D Loved it too, so I can understand Ricks reaction to the clubhouse, staff, range and facility.
Good to see a Happy Rick in the clubhouse again. Confidence building and hitting well. Will you qualify? I am pretty sure you will! Cheers… …and well done Rob the Reserve
Rick, from the sound of it, +5 for 18 holes on that course was a solid round. I caddied for many years at a local country club here in Pittsburgh and when the members demanded it, the course staff would make the course impossible to play for anyone with a handicap over 5. Ridiculous sloping on the greens, three-tiered greens that were made hard as a rock, and greens dried out like a prune. I love a tough course that demands the scratch golfer to use many different shots, but I hate a course set up to make great golfers pay for well-struck, well-played shots with failure. I caddied for our club pro on a day like that and he shot 79.
Well done Rick - course management springs to mind - you hit the ball well so once you get CM under your belt you'll be flying through Open qualifying !
Rick if your ever down my way I'll caddie for ya you'll def enjoy my Irish sense of humour. I suppose if need be ill travel to do it . I live in Nottinghamshire
Nice positive reaction! Rob seems cool. I agree with some other comments, would it be worth asking Pete to caddy at Fairhaven. Dobbie is a client/fan/mate but he can't have the same level of knowledge of your game as a fellow pro that you've worked with for years. If Pete won't do it, what about Carter? No disrespect to Dobbie, but think about this......if he was playing in a comp, would he rather have you caddying for him or one of his mates with a 20+ handicap?
Great video Rick and congrats on 1,000! Your caddie looks like he should have been in the movie, "Braveheart!" Get in a few practice rounds; I'm rooting for you and I know you will do well. It's a shame about Peter. He's a good Mate and I know you are probably just as sad as all of your and Peter's fans are. Maybe you can have him on the bag? After all, who knows your game better than Peter? Cheers and good luck, Rich
Rick, though you may have not made the cut like you said there were great things to take away. A bit of confidence can be deadly! best of luck to you on Monday! and you HAVE to get Rob #2 in for some review videos!
Rick, been watching for a few months. Love the stuff I've seen, from product reviews, instructional (you've helped make my slice much more playable!) and the quest for the open. Just curious why you don't have Pete on your bag while he cant compete.
Rick, could not help but wonder if Rob also plays? Seems like a really nice fellow and might be fun to have him on the links with his clubs against you. : ) Five over isn't too awful. If you are striking it that well you are building some awesome confidence going into the 20th!
Where are you doing your Open qualifying? I'm a member at burhill golf club and we have regional qualifying on Monday so was wondering if you would be there?
Did you ever teach YMG courses at High Legh down the road from Mere when you worked there? I'm trying to find my old coach and your name keeps popping up
well done Rick, just my oppinion but i think you should ask this new caddie to do open qualifying for you nothing against potter but i dont think hes a good fit for you or ask finchey perhaps? i will be interested to get others oppinions? its nothing personal but your caddie can make or brake your rounds. good luck rick
Is beardy Rob a member there ? If so he should be telling you where not to miss when into the greens. If not a member caddie or at least some local knowledge would have stood you in good stead. Sounds like just fractions if you were hitting it nice.
Unfortunate pin placements but the fact youre striking the ball well should give you the confidence you were looking for. Realistically, it was the 9 iron that got you on one hole. outside of that double you would have made the cut?
That's golf mate, results don't reflect strike, I played today Hand,7 at sandford springs , shot 6 over and everything but everything dropped, main thing is your ball striking is good, in golf you have to get lucky, its that simple!! goodluck in your quest!!
im surprised u get any footage during an event like that..if u annoyed me filming while i was playing u would need surgery to remove the camera from up ur bottom 👍 i think the guy who was telling u that u needed to play the course obviously knew that knowing were to miss was important. if u find the wrong side on tiered greens ur in trouble. but missing the cut might be a blessing in disguise as u get another practice round in at Fairhaven
I get more vicarious thrills and entertainment from watching Rick's vlog matches than from PGA tour TV coverage.
That sound when you make contact with the ball, thats the dream. Impeccable!!
Best of luck for the Open Qualifying Rick, You've got this mate!
Glad to hear you're feeling more positive about your game despite dropping shots, the positive mental attitude bodes well for Open qualifying. Got my fingers crossed for you Rick, go out there and crush it!
Happy 1,000th video Rick!!!! Great videos as always and wishing you another 1,000 more to come. Cheers!
Good luck as always, Rick...I enjoy the videos a lot...You have the skills, and it seems that you are gaining confidence...believe in yourself, it's an important part of the game...
Rick,
I love the videos, they are entertaining and a great help. One thing I would love to see you and Pete do, as sort of a fun challenge round, would be playing a round with game improvement clubs. Keep that momentum going Rick only good things will come from this!
I love how you edit these vlogs rick. Good luck on open qualifying
See....Always trust the Beard! Thanks for jumping on the bag Rob. Glad you was in his corner.
Played there twice before. A totally amazing course. I would say one of 'the' best I have ever played! We went there this year on our society tour. Kirkby Lonsdale is another great track and Grange-Over-Sands if you are looking to play some golf in the south lakes.
I look forward to watching rick's competitions just as much as playing in mine
That track playing during his warm up was a tuuune too. I know you'd appreciate!
+Matt Heffernan what was the track called mate??
Great looking golf course. Enjoyed the video presentation. Congrats to Rob 2.0 for helping Rick on the bag.
Great attitude Rick! You were literally beaming the entire time. I actually thought you made the cut based on how positive you were. Well played. Keep it going and best of luck in Open qualifying.
+Cace Smith I hit it well today. A welcome change
Rick you are easy to root for. I love your videos.
Just RIPPING IT on the warm up routine, wish my shots sounded like that!
Thanks for the videos!
Love the style of video: fresh and smooth at once. Agree about the beauty of the course and the club house. Looks very tasteful.

Keep on rockin' this, Rick!
Nice to see you being positive And confident again Rick..Maybe the change of Caddy is in order.
Great vid Rick can't wait to see you in the open!!!!!!
Agree 100% about Carus Green. Fantastic facility and when they do anything they do it to the highest quality possible
indeed a beautiful course, I've been on this one last year :D
Loved it too, so I can understand Ricks reaction to the clubhouse, staff, range and facility.
Thanks for the video Rick. The course looked really good. I wish I could strike the ball as good as you do.
Can't wait to see open qualifying. Best of luck!!!!
This was your 1000th video!
+GingerCallum haha. Amazing
It's nice to see you smiling after a round again Rick
Good to see a Happy Rick in the clubhouse again.
Confidence building and hitting well.
Will you qualify? I am pretty sure you will!

…and well done Rob the Reserve

Cant wait for the 20th to watch rick in action at the qualifier. Lets hope he burns it up.
Well done Rick - course management springs to mind - you hit the ball well so once you get CM under your belt you'll be flying through Open qualifying !

fantastic attitude!
Love your content keep up the good work
Rick if your ever down my way I'll caddie for ya you'll def enjoy my Irish sense of humour. I suppose if need be ill travel to do it . I live in Nottinghamshire
Pete should hop on your bag for the open qualifiers Rick! Not sure how he'd like the prospect but it would get him involved.
Great video, You can do it Rick!
Nice positive reaction! Rob seems cool.

Awesome man good stuff
Great video Rick and congrats on 1,000! Your caddie looks like he should have been in the movie, "Braveheart!" Get in a few practice rounds; I'm rooting for you and I know you will do well. Rick, though you may have not made the cut like you said there were great things to take away. A bit of confidence can be deadly! best of luck to you on Monday! and you HAVE to get Rob #2 in for some review videos!

Just curious why you don't have Pete on your bag while he cant compete.

What song was that about 3 minutes in?
Hi Rick, I just want to check that we can come and watch you try and qualify, and If so, what do we do?
Where are you doing your Open qualifying? I'm a member at burhill golf club and we have regional qualifying on Monday so was wondering if you would be there?
He's in Fairhaven, close to where he lives.
Good luck Rick, #questfortheopen, plus what is that song on the practice routine. Rooting for you. Pray for Pete, I feel bad for him
I wish my course started with a par 3, that would be nice
What is the song at 6:30?
Would love to come out and play you Rick!
Did you ever teach YMG courses at High Legh down the road from Mere when you worked there? I'm trying to find my old coach and your name keeps popping up

Rick is such a nearly player never quite does it
I solved the mystery, you thought you hit a 9 iron, but it was actually your 6 iron. Happens to me all the time. Good luck on your Open quest!!!
Fun fact this is my home course and Gary is such a nice guy and he beat tiger e walker cup one year
So was the first day today? or yesterday
+dylan payton today
+Rick Shiels Golf Channel Good luck mate
What was Gary Wolstenolme like? Get much tips for the #Quest
Is beardy Rob a member there ? If so he should be telling you where not to miss when into the greens. If not a member caddie or at least some local knowledge would have stood you in good stead. Sounds like just fractions if you were hitting it nice.
Watched enough of your rounds to know you can do it, hopefully you believe that too
If you teed off at 8pm? How'd you get in 18 holes? Were you just playing in the dark most of the round?
Dark at around 10pm...shouldn't take 2 hours for a scratch golfer to go round on his own with zero hold ups.
+Beta Vulgaris (A View From Europe) Oh wow, that must be nice for there to be daylight for that long if you want to golf.
W. Jones Well i am in the South of England and it's going dark around 9.45ish here, and the North usually has lighter skies.
RICK, please tell me the song name 3 minutes in?????? Or anybody!! Thanks 👍🏻😀
Still working on it 👍🏼
+Luke Tinker good lad 😀👍🏻
Unfortunate pin placements but the fact youre striking the ball well should give you the confidence you were looking for. Realistically, it was the 9 iron that got you on one hole. outside of that double you would have made the cut?

Feel bad for old Finchy with his bum wrist missing out on all these cool places.

What a disaster Rick. When will you start playing golf?
+Phineas Starter I'm not doing it on purpose. Ha
What a ridiculous comment haha
What score was the cut? Best wishes for next Monday !
unlucky Rick keep your head up
his swing was different from his swing today
Unlucky Mr Shiels. Sometimes you need a bit of good fortune to post a good score. 😊 ⛳
