      Dearest Mr Stritch, I never knew you’d arranged this!!!!! It’s INCREDIBLE!!! You were so smart to include a couple of songs from Mama’s favourite musical, but the cherry on top for me were those bars from Over The Rainbow subtly brought in at the end of Sondheim’s tune, and how “not while I’m around” is made to sound exactly like “why oh why can’t I”? It gives me goosebumps and brings a tear to my eye EVERY TIME. Thanks ever so much! 💓

    • @RJS1974
      @RJS1974 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Sussette Bjorklund Liza did not live in her mom’s shadow. Liza is an icon in her own right. Cabaret cemented Liza as a superstar and she’s always been her own person. As for Lorna, she had talent but no star power charisma. She did her thing tho and happily became a spokesperson for her mother’s legacy.

    • @jimmijones443
      @jimmijones443 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well... when your mother is literally one of the top 5 legends of all time... you don't really have a choice lol. When your parent is that big, seldom will their children reach the same type of legendary status... so I guess it just comes with the territory. But, they are both very awesome in their own right. And their mother was awesome and died at a young age... I'm sure it warms their hearts to know that we still love their mother and them! ……….And though Liza didn't reach the legendary status of her mother, no body can say she isn't her own superstar...no one. Liza is damn near a legend herself... but of course, no like her mama. Judy Garland is the 20th century, a star that bright cast an even bigger shadow... it would be damn near impossible to step out of that... I don't think ppl made them live in her shadow per se; they just really had no choice. But they seemed to be all very loving towards each other.

    Both have such good voices and if I am going to be honest with myself, I feel that Luft has the better voice, in terms of tonality and the like. Minnelli, though, just has that 'one thing more' that her mother had in her voice, which doesn't have anything to do with 'voice', but that something that has the ability to move you, in one note, to tears. Me, like many, would love her/them, to do a 'Garland' album, as Natalie Cole, did. Would be enormous and a sensation. Won't happen but one can hope.

They are talented and though I have always felt that Lorna sings like her Mom alot, you can see Judy in Liza alot also. They both are very talented. I have always wished they would do a tour together and just celebrate their legacy and their own talents. My heart goes out to all three of Judy' children and I pray they all find peace and joy in their lives and careers. At the end of the song i could hear Judy Garland tell them, "alright, take your bow." This was lovely.

    There definately would not be a LIZA without a JUDY but LIZA is a member of the EGGOT club; she has an EMMY GRAMMY GOLDENGLOBE OSCAR & TONY; MOST entertainers will never be apart of that club. However, JUDY could have been apart of that club 10xs over but her substance abuse was strong. LIZA has had her substance abuse issues but I think her mother's fate is always at the forefront of her mind and she fights it. BOTH ICONS!!!!

    Lorna's voice completely overpowers Liza's. It's crazy. Lorna definitely got Judy's vocals, but Liza got her mannerisms and the ability to captivate an audience.

    After viewing these two sisters performing, I have a feeling Judy Garland is smiling from the heavens above upon her children.

    Lorna has had an amazing career, it's just she's not as 'famous'. She has been in many Broadway musicals and plays and she does concerts singing Judy's songs. If you google her you can see what she's done :)

    Wow. I knew Liza was good, but I didn't realize her sister Lorna was just as talented. I'm surprised she never became as famous as her sister. I guess Liza just had more lucky breaks.

      Lorna's focus has been more on stage whereas Liza was movies, her one woman show and the like
