When it comes to bringing a SEGA IP, I see Puyo Puyo the most. It is huge in Japan, being one of the longer running SEGA franchises, and having mad history with Nintendo (There even is one in NSO).
I really do hope Arle gets to be in. It could be big for the series and all Puzzle reps in general if Arle gets in since there hasn't been a pure Puzzle series fighter since Dr. Mario.
i don't know if smash can make justice to what puyo puyo/madou monogatari is man... even tho joker got some unique things, the persona series doesn't seems to be living with him a lot
Puyo Puyo alone would bring so many new firsts to Smash Bros, and while I'd be happy with ANY representation, I am holding onto hope for Arle. She's my most wanted character, and I really think Sakurai has the creativity to pay homage to the original Madou Monogatari series as well. I'm personally shocked that there STILL isn't any Puyo Puyo representation so far, but that just makes me even more excited. Also, I really loved this moveset!! The different elemental usages adds so much potential for combos and strategies, and heck, I could even see this working as a Smash equivalent to chaining.
Not too shocking. Limited roster spots and Puyo Puyo isn't exactly a final fantasy. That and being popular Japan is not going to be the be all end all as quite a lot of characters not in fit that
It has long since been claimed that the developers of Puyo Puyo did not want their characters featured in a fighting game. This was not true they had meant that they did not want a Puyo Puyo themed fighting game. Recently the creator of Puyo Puyo said that he would like to see one of his characters in Smash Brothers but Nintendo is not going in that direction with Ultimate. So while Arle has been confirmed not in Smash Ultimate, the long time misconception of why Arle isn't yet in Smash was corrected.
I admit, before this video I would have never predicted Arle. But this move set makes SO much sense and now I’m almost sad it isn’t real (yet??). Also heavy metal remix of Demon King when???
The thing is, Arle is from Madou Monogatari which is an rpg series. Puyo Puyo is just a spin off. A lot of madou monogatari arle is still being used in puyo puyo arle.

Good video! Main thing I would change is the final smash. Instead of only being Bayoen, it should be a chain attack of all of Arle's spells back to back ending on Bayoen. For example, she does Fireball, Ice Storm, Mind Blast, Judgement, and Bayoen in quick succession.
All the Touhou content we could see in Smash Ultimate? Seems to be the most likely indie rep at this point, with a lot to pull from in terms of inspiration, from music to characters to movesets to alternate costumes. Plus, the Switch has been receiving a number of ports of games related to the series recently.
At this point I feel, Reimu, Shantae, and Freddy Fazbear are the only indie characters with any real chance to get in, maybe an actual Undertale rep but that’s really unlikely

I've said it elsewhere. I'm really not a fan of puzzle games. But I am fascinated by the idea of translating a puzzle game's mechanics into a fighting game character.
I think that puyo puyo is likely one people will not think of, and it may be on its way soon, also I fell like her classic mode would be more of a reference to her teleporting to random stages each time as a reference to the cast basically saying "each time we play puyo puyo, we end up in a new world" that's just my take however.

While Zombie could represent Zombie, I think Wario makes more sense, frankly. Arle says, in both of Puyo Puyo’s original and US translations, that Zombie smells disgusting... and so does Wario.

I enjoyed the video too but is true there is more overlooked series out there. For example, a character from Danganronpa like Monokuma, Reimu hakurei from Touho, Gordon freeman from Half life, Lara Croft from Tomb Raider, a Legend of heroes Trails character like Estelle Bright or Rean Schwarzer etc. There is probably way more characters I am forgetting but you get the point. This characters get overlooked a lot in speculation.

Ok... I think it was a miss to use Arle as a Puyo Puyo series representative in a way to represent the series in form of a character, and not the character being herself. I mean... Arle can use all of her moves and actions from both Madou Monogatari series and Puyo Puyo series. Many of her moves she uses in Puyo Puyo cames from Madou Monogatari, including her signature magics _Fire!_ , _Ice Storm_ and _Bayoen_ . By the way, the magic used by her to group Puyos is called _Ruipanko_ (Compile backwords using katakana). She learned this _Ruipanko_ magic in the first Puyo Puyo game (information from the manual of Puyo Puyo 1 for Mega Drive). The _Ruipanko_ magic can me used to summon Puyos into the game. And I'm could just die to see Carbuncle in Smash eating garlic as Arle's taunt or some kind of attack (it's a reference found in the Madou Monogatari series, but not found in the Puyo Puyo series). Ok... The Musics... WHERE'S CARBUNCLE'S THEME (the first floor theme from Puyo Puyo 2)? Ok... I think it was a miss to use Arle as a Puyo Puyo series representative in a way to represent the series in form of a character, and not the character being herself. I mean... Arle can use all of her moves and actions from both Madou Monogatari series and Puyo Puyo series. Many of her moves she uses in Puyo Puyo cames from Madou Monogatari, including her signature magics _Fire!_ , _Ice Storm_ and _Bayoen_ . By the way, the magic used by her to group Puyos is called _Ruipanko_ (Compile backwords using katakana). She learned this _Ruipanko_ magic in the first Puyo Puyo game (information from the manual of Puyo Puyo 1 for Mega Drive). The _Ruipanko_ magic can me used to summon Puyos into the game. And I'm could just die to see Carbuncle in Smash eating garlic as Arle's taunt or some kind of attack (it's a reference found in the Madou Monogatari series, but not found in the Puyo Puyo series).
Ok... The Musics... WHERE'S CARBUNCLE'S THEME (the first floor theme from Puyo Puyo 2)? Are you nuts to forget the most iconic music from the most iconic and successed game of the series?

Let me guess: You wanted to use the tower of Puyo Puyo 2, place where all the plot of the most successed game of the series happens, but you couldn't find the official name of this tower. So, you need to choose a stage who have an official name, and *Primp Magic School* was your choice. Well... Looks like someone don't made his homework. Welll... I did!! From the manual of the Puyo Puyo 2 for Mega Drive, the official name of this tower is *West Tower* (in japanese, 西にある塔 / "Nishi ni aru Tou").

i don't think we're getting any sega reps as dlc because we technically already have 4 sega reps with sonic, joker and bayonetta, we don't need any more, at most if puyo puyo gets any kind of representation in smash it would be a spirit event and maybe a mii costume but nothing else
