      @@bigboreracing356 Isn't it externally a much smaller package as well? As in small block small? I've not been up close to a lot of LS7/LSX454's

    • @ziggybmw
      @ziggybmw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bigboreracing356 you can't be sure of that. Bore and stroke are different, head flow, cam design are all different. My custom lsx454 with ported stock LS7 heads makes about 700 crank hp. Its a bit better than the crate 454lsx but not by much. I haven't looked into a typical 454 bbc crate but im sure there are different options. Would be an awesome test none the less

    • @ziggybmw
      @ziggybmw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@bigboreracing356 oh I know and I agree. I just think overall it would be such a fun test to show how technology has advanced over the years. Richard could break it down by comparing rotating weight, bore/stroke, cylinder head size like port volumes, combustion chambers, valves, rockers, port flow, compression ratio, and like you said BSFC, not to mention engine weight/size. I would love to see that test. Basically a new style big inch small block vs an old style smaller cubic inch big block.

    Try with E-85 the blower needs that kind of cooling never pump gas again when dealing with blower the E85 will act as a intercooler and pick back up more horse while being reliable 💯.. Blower should never be recommended with regular gas for the lack of a
    Intercooler... Even if you 9:2:1 on the
    Motor Procharger and other come with intercooler so pump gas is super reliable on those Applications... Blower Applications should always Run either E-85, methanol or race gas only if you wanna make real power while being reliable 😎

    The age-old question, going for show or go? The first time I remember seeing a blower car on the street was a family trip out west in ‘62. A guy came through our camp ground in a ‘56 Chevy with a 6-71 sticking through the hood. Looked and sounded awesome! But you can make that 7.3 psi with an eBay turbo for pennies these days. We live in very interesting times!

    Speaking different ways of doing things I put a 5.0 Coyote in a 2ed gen Camaro just because I was bored of small blocks and an LS swap wasn't weird enough. 😁

      Nice. Your one of the guys I'm getting revenge on though - everyone who's ever stuck a chevy in a ford I got a ford in my chevy lol.

      You don't have to justify anything 👍.
      I'm just saying it sometimes bothers the Ford guys to see all these Chevy swaps into fox body Mustangs so here's a little revenge for the blue oval boys.
      I'm not a brand loyal guy either. These things are glorified air pumps, they don't care what name is on valve cover so why should I, ya know? 😁

    Richard, please run an Olds Quad 4 as part of your 'other guys' series; they already look like a baby Offy, I think it would be awesome to see a big single turbo hanging off the back of one like a 70's indycar! They made 190 HP stock and revved to 7 grand, 400+ HP shouldn't be out of the question.

Still waiting on the caddilac 500 motor to I have always wanted to build one

    Listen we all know the Gen Xer's are the undisputed kings in all of this. We're old enough to know the old way of doing things but not so old that we can't master the new tech either. We were the last generation that was truly balanced between all the old and new technology.

    I was just reading a thread on how to build a 560hp 383 SBC. Those guys were doing big cnc afr heads, 250* solid roller, 11.5:1 cr and JUST getting there. The 383ls you did here could be driving gramma to church and probably get decent gas mileage to boot.

    I want to see some smaller displacement 4cyl action preferably with nitrous! Also yes plls a series based out of just slapping a 671 on anything it fits would be lovely. Maybe even some 6cyl blower action!
