Great stuff. I'm hoping you're going to comment on the VMP 'Love Supreme' box as well as the repress of their "The Story of Blue Note Records.' I'm on the fence and could use some sane input.
As an earlier person said, Musings was his first album for Prestige. I was listening to it yesterday. Very enjoyable. No sax, just Miles on the front line.
Yea that’s right. I had in mind that album and Conception which features Miles Davis on it and came out as the prior catalog number (but wasn’t wholly a Miles album). Miles was his first album as the miles Davis quintet
Im glad they are putting at least one surprise and under the radar title out with each batch they release. Because I have all the big titles, Im selfish and want all under the radar titles such as Southside, Mal 2, The Cats etc..but I cant complain. Craft and the engineers are doing a very good job with these so I have to curb my greediness. They could put out 4 a week and Id be happy!
Agreed. In my opinion the choices have been great, and a good mix to please everyone with at least a title, but a lot of us will just have to grab them all!
Wow, good selections! Really looking forward to the John Wright Trio release. Nice and Tasty was one of my favorite Lps last year. I've seen South Side Soul only once in all the years I've been collecting, so for me that tops these releases. Thanks for the info!
Soul Side Soul and Groovy are the two I’m most looking forward to and most likely getting, Miles is next on my list, the line up is phenomenal and like you mentioned it nice to listen to what is Coltrane’s early voice of his own. The Burrell/Coltrane one I’ve enjoyed listening to however I think they both have such vast catalogs on their own it’s not as much a priority right now. But all in four great selections to release this year.
Thanks for this pre-view and your houghts on these 4 exciting new OJC titles. I have been waiting for your pre-view of the 3 most recent OJC titles but I'm not sure if you skipped them or if I missed it? Those are - CANNONBALL ADDERLEY & BILL EVANS - KNOW WHAT I MEAN?....ART BLAKEY & THE JAZZ MESSENGERS - CARAVAN ....and RON CARTER - WHERE? Two of them are hitting the shops as I type this, the third hit a delay due to tip-on jackets print complications. Thanks.
Would love to hear WCB's view on those three titles too - have them all three on pre-order directly from OJC/Craft recordings as they offered a nice group buy discount. Thanks.
That sounds like a great copy! Yea I had to stop myself from suggesting that the status was recycled because I was sure I had heard before that it wasn’t and in fact was a solid option
Hi, thanks for sharing your point of view and super cool OG. I don’t have any of them so I will definitely pick them up. OJC sound great but let’s say on the « audiophile » side of sound. Quietness of high quality vinyl pressing is nice. Nevertheless, OG surely have a great vintage taste (smoothness I would say) as far as sound is concerned, impossible to beat. J from Paris
Great video! Sorry to be the info police but (according to the silver labels) Matthew Lutthans is only doing 1 record, the Kenny Burrell, all the others are Mr Gray
Yea I thought so too but For Lady was another I got from the same collection with the same marker, and I tried taking it off with alcohol and it left a pink shadow of the writing on the cover. I kind of preferred the black
I would really love to hear your opinion on these OJC's vs. your originals or vs. AP 45's - I have been really enjoying the couple OJC's I have - but I have also been considering the River Side Bill Evans 45RPM box set - and I actually got a chance to borrow two of them from the set to compare to the OJC's - I want these OJC's to be good - I like the presentation with the OBI and I can NOT afford the 45rpm editions of all of these!
So far I’ve been a bit mixed with the Evans titles. I did some comparisons with Waltz as well as Vanguard and I want to say I preferred the AP edition for Waltz but the OJC for Vanguard. Now, I’m not going to sell the box set, but the more titles Craft releases, the harder that may be to justify. There’s another coming out for RSD. Will keep you posted as I get more OJCs though and I’ll try and address the differences
@@jazzvinylcollector thanks for the prompt reply. It’s not listed on Craft website but have seen copies online in the UK. Just want to know what the source is, is it any better than why is already out there. It’s Craft, I would expect so, but it’s all a bit cloak and dagger….
@@ffyddgobaithcariad9923 something I have seen in the past are releases showing up in Europe that are repressings of earlier remasterings, posing as part of a new series. I’m not saying that’s the case here necessarily but it could be why there is limited information about the release and the source material that was used
Thanks for removing my comments on your prior video when I highlighted the release for you.☹ At the moment they are £49.99 🤮(Amazon) in the UK so we are getting "stuffed" as usual. However thanks for the review I've already auditioned all of these since yesterday and I'm all in on these for as they sound fantastic and the music is so good
I don’t think I removed your comment! I only remove comments that are offensive and I don’t think that was the case. I even accept criticism! Which release did you reference, you mean this press release? Also, yes 50 pounds is crazy, presumably plus shipping. I don’t understand how there isn’t a European distributor for this sort of stuff (aside from Michael 45’s shop)
@@brandnewstartMany thanks but very underwhelmed by their website which muddles up Blue Note & Craft for example, pre-orders very limited. Juno has a much better website but is between Amazon & Jazz Vault in terms of price. Juno's delivery & service is way better than Amazon

Thank you. I logged in specifically looking for your thoughts on this announcement
It’s hard to keep up with all these announcements, but lately I feel like these labels have been doing a great job with their choices!
You never fail to get my excited for these releases. I was only familiar with the Miles here and now I can't wait to pick up the rest 💚

I think musings of miles was his first 12” of new material. They’re putting out titles that people want the OJC series is pretty sweet
Very happy to see the John Wright release, been on my want list for ages. This gives me hope that we may even get a Jerome Richardson in the future 🙏
You broke the news to me! Love the review, thanks man

My South Side Soul with a Status jacket has a NJ fireworks label not on recycled vinyl. Sounds great but I plan on getting the new OJC as well.

That record station writing on groovy should come right off if that’s the laminate it looks like on film!

I do prefer the OJC covers over the high gloss Tone Poet jackets (not to mention the flimsy Blue Note Classics)
Also - my south side soul on status sounds amazing. I a/b’ed with a fireworks and it was better! Dead quiet and dynamic.
Do you know if the John Wright release will be in mono or stereo?
Anyone know what the Wes Montgomery Incredible Jazz Guitar allegedly released by Craft last year is like? Can’t find reviews of it anywhere
Allegedly is right. I don’t recall it actually happening even though I was expecting the release as well
