It was the soft break that made Ronnie Alcano a champion and was the same that made pool boring and predictable and unfair. I’m glad present rules don’t allow it anymore.
So if it's "unfair" does that mean some players aren't allowed to do it....? It's only unfair when pattern racking is happening. When people learn to do something well.... All the participation trophy "winners" want to change the rules... Instead of crying about it and changing the rules.... Get Better and do the same.... "we need to change the rules, it's unfair because I can't do it..." Have you ever ran a rack..? it's not easy to do regardless... Telling people how they HAVE to break is a Fvcked rule..! (but pattern racking must be prevented because the two combined can be considered cheating) The 3 point break rule is unfair, a player could pot 2 balls on the break and not get the 3rd point... and they don't get to shoot...? That's some bullsh!t right there...! Alternate Break... Pool was played winner breaks for hundreds of years... And now the generation that grew up playing sports that didn't keep score, want to change the rules so they have a chance to "participate"... Sit down, shut up and watch and learn from someone that's dedicated enough to figure how to run rack after rack, Instead changing the rules because you can't figure it out....
@@2869may I don’t make the rules and don’t defend them either. I said the word “unfair” along with “predictable” as doing a soft break gives the player a pretty good ball spread. Now considering we’re talking about professional players here, a runout is expected except for unforced errors. When potting balls from both competitors are at par, save for cases where you factor in tactical safety shots (- and you have less of these on a predictable ball spread), it levels the game and calls for skill and technique to be displayed when breaks are not done softly (-didn’t have to mean Django Bustamante break intensity). I could hear that you prefer the rules that were be applied and that’s exactly what I’m saying! The most exciting pool matches for 9 ball where when balls were not broken softly. Oh and yeah I can runout a rack but doesn’t mean it’s easy to do- two different things.
@@DudleySchwartz Safeties and jump shots are another thing that's being too heavily relied on... I see players playing safe on one rail banks... Besides that if "you" get bad position, you simply GET to pass YOUR misfortune on to your opponent...? Using the rails to attempt a SHOT is a huge part of the game that "calls for skill and technique to be displayed".... Banks and Kicks are what make the game IMO. I made a 4 rail bank combo today, It was a hanger but I got it...lol and the other day I got almost a table length kick combo off the short rail (I only have room for a barbox, I built it from the ground up) But it's shots like that that make pool so interesting... I realize safeties require skill and ball control, but fvck that! Use the rails and go for it..! play the game as it was intended to be played... By the way, I'm old.....lol
@@2869may Ah we’re on the same boat after all lol.. I’ve never been and never will be a fan of jump shots. The cueists I admire rarely, if not at all, attempt jump shots. I feel disgust at players commentators say are great but rely heavily on jump shots, get their time on a TV table, does a jump shot and by sheer accident snookers the opponent and walks away from the pool table as if everything was planned.. Btw congratulations on your shots today, I appreciate you sharing and I can only hope for pool to get better and more exciting. @@2869may same reason Earl has a jump cue now, though he was the biggest proponent against it. Also the only player who can jump full table with a Meucci playing cue.

Here's an idea MATCHROOM

@MATCHROOM , WE NEED THAT REF BACK!!!!!!!!
The man retired
2007...when players like Corey Dual dominated.
" Earle doesn't look impressed " as if Earle ever looks impressed with anybody !
37:07 😂
Strictland hates the jump cue and the soft break, but if that's the game you want to play? Strictland can play it.
Do they have a shot clock back then?
no
I watched this match a few yrs ago..Earl very good in this match..kind intimidated the other player...
5 nil down wins 9 in a row 👏 👏 👏
It's all Corey's fault.
30:00
27:52 Well that was kinda scary 😐 "OUGH!!!"
Lmao, Oi, they even played the sound in the replay 💀
Dang! The camera work is Horrible!! Thanks for the upload! 👍🏻
Li started out so strong, then later got nervous.
He was frustrated by Mr Earl, he was disgusted at him being down despite having did a beautiful counter safety
That was pretty good
Pat Holtz commentating, it's just a win for everyone!
he clobbers the official ,thats the first time I ever seen that ,lol

Vintage earl is like a rampaging bull
