  • Ian Hunter, along with Robert Plant, Ryan Adams, Garland Jeffreys, Nils Lofgren and more, played a special benefit show at NYC's Beacon Theater on June 23, 2006, for Arthur Lee who was struggling with leukemia. I was lucky enough to have a photo pass for the show and was able to videotape interviews backstage with most of the performers. Ian was a very nice gentleman and an incredible performer as he covered his hits with Mott the Hoople and solo. His soundcheck was a joy unto itself as he played several songs he did not use in the show. Enjoy!

Love, love love Ian and he nailed it describing Forever Changes. That LP as well as many a Mott song are completely timeless. Thank you Ian and Arthur.

Arthur Lee....gone but oh boy.....never forgotten. Saw him live in Newport South Wales and Swansea. Both gigs amazing......the best gigs I have ever been to. Good old Rusty on the acoustic guitar chanting all the lyrics back at a wondrous valley crowd......it really does not get any better!

Excellent description of the artistic brain and it's drive to express at all costs, sometimes heavy cost. Thanks

Ian said the thing that any true musician - or artist of any kind - works for to hear. The man knows.

Mad Cyril hello sir perhaps this is true but no need to use profanity...You need to do some research on you tube many videos are exposing these rock bands and their ties with the Occult and Satanic lyrics ECT..Def Leppard and front man Joe Elliott is no saint ...and they did some backmasking in their music and use Occult symbols ECT and all the sexual perversion in their lyrics....still some people glorify these folks ... Joe Elliott was a gorgeous teen and young man but they sold out sold there souls ok for fame n money it us been going around for years ... Greetings from the USA

This was at Beacon Theatre NY.Robert Plant,Ryan Adams,Nils Lofgren, and so many others got to together for a benefit to help pay Arthur Lee's hospital bills. There was not enough money to record the show.Very sad! because it was a classic show that went into the morning.I was the photographer for the show.A bunch of photos are on Robert Plant's web site.

Well expressed ! How huge Arthur as well as Bryan have become since Forever Changes was released . Interesting how there were so many Classic Albums from 67 /68 . Sgt.Peppers, Odessey and Oracle , Buffalo Springfield Again , John Wesley Harding, Are you Experienced and more . All Masterpieces but Forever Changes ,which was released in 11/67, is definetely the best of them !

My former neighbor in New Milford, CT. First person I saw walking around the neighborhood. Very tall. His son had a band, and my daughter went to a party at his house shortly before he moved.

Interviewer tried to take it political; Ian was having none of it. 👍 Outstanding.

Sorry Tim he does not have love for everybody. Worked with him decades ago at Chrysalis. Total ingrate. Maybe he's changed but I doubt it. As for playing benefits....I guess we all have some good in us.

Disgusting how America can’t provide health care for its citizens and would let a musical genius like Lee just die from lack of health care if his friends didn’t pull this fundraiser.

From Wikipedia: "Lee underwent several months of treatment for leukemia, including chemotherapy and an experimental stem cell transplant using stem cells from an umbilical cord blood donor.[21] His condition continued to worsen, and he died from complications of the disease in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 61"
