glock has such a low iq design philosophy. god forbid they make the magazine out of steel like s&w which improves its function and makes removal extremely easy. imagine using a vice to remove a floor plate. glock perfection my behind
I watched so many videos on how to remove the stupid buttplate and I absolutely could not get it until I came across your video. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!
just installed my pearce g43+1 extenders thanks to this video. those plates are no joke... shouldnt be this hard, and thats coming from a 1911 owner. thanks for the tip.
I've found using a long screwdriver to push the magazine insert down far enough gives me leverage to use the screwdriver to free the floor plate. No clamps needed.
thanks. a C-clamp beats vice grips or pliers. The magazine "insert" needs to be pushed toward the top of magazine; hopefully *past the two contact points of your C-clamp on the magazine body. A smaller C-clamp would result in smaller contact points on the mag body, allowing the "insert" to be pushed up and out of the way of any compression.
Best video I have found On this topic. I was struggling with this until I attempted it this way. Now it’s a breeze! I’m a little disappointed in myself that I did not think of this on my own. Lol
I usually just do it with just the punch tool, but since i messed up my thumb I had to find another way.. Vice clamp also works, but be cautious obviously
Why in the World would anyone manufacture a magazine so "Insanely difficult" to disassemble?? Great video and I still destroyed the magazine even following your very thorough instructions. That's enough to get me to sell my Glocks and stick with HK or CZ!
bro bc you don’t need fucking construction tools and shit for a little mag you can pinch the bottom of the mag with your fingers and use a glock baseplate removal tool it’s very simple
Yes, if you clamp it to much. This is the best way and the best video how to do it. I use another clamp made of strong plastic. This way works for the +2 extension to.
This is pathetic. You shouldn't need a fvcking c-clamp to take off a baseplate. What in the world is glock thinking??? Every other manufacturer knows how to make good mags.
i know this was 7 years ago but it’s called a baseplate first off and you can just pinch the bottom of the mag with your fingers to get the slits out of the holes on the sides and maybe try buying an 11 dollar glock baseplate removal tool?
People, do NOT put your polymer magazines into a c clamp. There are plenty of ways to safely remove the base plate. Just because someone is on TH-cam does not mean they know the best way to do something. This is not a recommended method by professionals.
It’s easy, isn’t it? I love how a one minute instructional video turned into a four minute video.
Just a smart no BS video by someone with a brain. Thanks for saving me a headache
I second your comments.
glock has such a low iq design philosophy. god forbid they make the magazine out of steel like s&w which improves its function and makes removal extremely easy. imagine using a vice to remove a floor plate. glock perfection my behind
I was about to return the magazines extentions when you save me. Men thanks for this video.
Did not even HAVE to watch. Seen the C clamp and was like "why didn't I think of that" Watched it anyway just to let adds play so you get paid.
I watched so many videos on how to remove the stupid buttplate and I absolutely could not get it until I came across your video. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!
number one vid on this subject bar far, thanks so much man.
just installed my pearce g43+1 extenders thanks to this video. those plates are no joke... shouldnt be this hard, and thats coming from a 1911 owner. thanks for the tip.
Excellent! Struggled with the first removal, then watched this video. Second removal was easy. Thank!
Worked thanks! Troy McClure is cool but this is easier, thanks to both fellas!😁
Awesome video just made my life easier and I didn't have too hear someone talk for 45 minutes just straight too the info
What if there isn’t a black little pin to push in to get the magazine out just noticed I don’t have one in one of my mags is this bad?
I carefully used a larger vice grip pliers based on this advice and it went easily as well. Great video and very helpful.
After 30 minutes of trying by hand, I reached for the vice grips and voila....1 minute later, it's off.
Used vice grip plier with a shop towel around the mag. Allen wrench for spring compression. Good vid.
"Use common sense, don't point it at your face."
Words to live by in more than one situation.
Ignore this ladies!
@@tonyromano6220 NO YOU DIDNT HAHAHAHAHHA
I tried to tell my girl this. Worked out good for me tho 🫠
Thank you for this. I just bought a Glock and couldn't get the base plate off. This easily solved the problem.
Thanks that’s a simple solution to a complex problem.
I love the clamp idea, the first time I did it with plyers/vise grips I scratched the mad, your clamp method is the one.
I've found using a long screwdriver to push the magazine insert down far enough gives me leverage to use the screwdriver to free the floor plate. No clamps needed.
I was trying to do this but somehow my black thing in the inside got stuck on the side I don’t know what to do
Wow! You sure saved me a headache. Thanks.
Thanks, in MD they pin the mags at 10 if sold in state...gonna have to adjust that.

"use common sense"
Sir, I wish there was more people like you
Excellent, thank you. I had not paid attention to the small "feet", and of course the C-clamp is the way to go. Thx !
No need for any clamping . All you need is a push pin with some leverage super easy
I have tried a number of ways to accomplish this and using a small "C" clamp is by far the easiest.
Exactly the video i was looking for. Thank you and greetings from the People's Republic of Maryland !
Any chance to show Dow to reduce rounds for Glock 44 .22lr in Ireland it's only allowed 5 round per mags. Cheers mate
Thaaank you. I had the base plate all buggered up in there too.
Thanks, I was going nuts trying to take that sucker apart!! 5 stars!
Heck yes - clear, straightforward, informative - thank you!
Thanks for this man!
Great information, brother. Worked like a charm.
Perfect Thanks for taking the time to post it
This doesnt work for gen 4 mags, can you make a video for gen 4 or help me
Does anyone know if this will fit the shield magazine?
Would suggest a piece of felt or leather to prevent marring
Glock 36 mag doesnt seem to have those tabs??
Thank you this helped a lot!
Thank you, just saved me $25, can get more Pearce Grips now
Glock armorer tool is all that is needed, no C clamp no punch and no Phillips head screwdriver required
Thank you! No waisted time on this video
Nice tip 👍 Thanks 🙏
Those magazines are over engineered POS, all you need is that little tab at the base plate to keep it together.
Best video I have found
On this topic.
I was struggling with this until I attempted it this way.
Now it’s a breeze!
I’m a little disappointed in myself that I did not think of this on my own.
Lol
Same here. It was 100 times easier once I used a clamp! Whew.
Great advice and saves me some money from having to buy another tool that I would have only used once.
Did you plan to clean your magazine only once?
"Just don't be an idiot."😆🤣 Excellent!
Thanks man very helpful!!!
Thank you, this worked perfectly! Solid explanation.
I usually just do it with just the punch tool, but since i messed up my thumb I had to find another way.. Vice clamp also works, but be cautious obviously

Never thought of the c-clamp, easy peasy, 👍🏼
The magazine is actually metal just has a plastic coating
Thank you! Worked like a charm!
Awesome! Thanks brother!
I appreciate your insight.
Found this video one day AFTER I figured out the same exact approach after a huge headache....
Very useful, thanks!
Use hairdryer to warm the plastic then use tool punch.
By using that clamp you are bending the inner metal. Not good.
Yes, if you clamp it to much. This is the best way and the best video how to do it. I use another clamp made of strong plastic. This way works for the +2 extension to.
Wow works great! Thank you for posting
Great vid, but Glock mags are not plastic, and are quite resilient.
Great tutorial! Thanks much!
Great informative video. Thank you.
I managed to get the spring stuck under the base plate. Do you think there’s another way to be able to remove the plate?
Awesome. You the man. Liked and subbed. 2 thumbs up
Super helpful, thank you!!
Great tip, thanks!
Very helpful! Thanks
Thank you very helpful video
Good idea, didn’t have a c clamp. Used grip pliers
Thank you.
Or, just use a pair of channel lock pliers.
Not working for me nothing is
Dude thank you!!!
Helped me Buddy
Does not work for me
Saved me 30 bucks!!!!
You are awesome
I didn’t think I’d have to go to TH-cam to remove a fucking magazine base plate holy shit.. smith & Wesson never had this problem lol
Thank You Sir....
🤔 So I did that without that C- clamp. 🤯🤦🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Get the Glock mag tool set for 8 bucks...Call it good.
They make a little tool that greatly simplifies this task. I think they’re only about $8
“C’mon guys, let’s use common sense here”…as the narrator puts a C clamp on a plastic magazine. The C clamp is unnecessary, all you need is the punch.
"It's just that easy." All you need is a huge C clamp, a center punch, and a multi step process, to take apart two pieces of plastic. How stupid.
🤝💯
It in fact was NOT that easy
Aaaand I broke the mag
This is pathetic. You shouldn't need a fvcking c-clamp to take off a baseplate. What in the world is glock thinking??? Every other manufacturer knows how to make good mags.
