  • I built a fully custom electric mountain bike from used and new part, optimising performance/price.
Frame: Commencal Meta Power 29 2020, size L (new)
Motor: Shimano EP8 (almost new) (compatible with this frame, luckily enough)
Battery: Shimano E8035 504 Wh (new)
    Shock: Ohlins TTX22M (almost new)
    Fork: Fox 38 180mm 27.5
Brakes: Shimano XT 4 pistons (new)
    Transmission: Shimano XT (almost new)
    Wheels: Mavic Crossmax Carbon (new)
Dropper seatpost: PRO LT 150mm (reduced to 100mm) (new)
Tires: Maxxis Assegai (F) and DHR (R) (new)
    Handlebar and stem: Raceface Respond
    Pedals: Bike-components
    Notes:
    1. I wouldn't recommend building an eMTB if you don't have patience, finding eMTB parts is really difficult
    2. The original motor for this frame is the E8000 but I managed to fit an EP8 without any modification
    3. I got a fairly good price on those wheels, putting 27.5in wheels instead of 29in lower the BB by about 1.5cm, no issue so far
    4. The rear disc is 220mm big (203mm front) due to the supplied adapter with the frame
