I have been listening to this concert, especially the RTP in the rāga Révati regularly over the last 40 years (cassette to CD era and then to MP3) and it still holds my interest and the joy of listening to it seems to be perpetual. Whoever comes to our house, in those days, were treated with the playing of the concert as a part of our humble hospitality and wanted them to enjoy as much as we did.
You are absolutely right. There is no Punarukti Dosham for MURALIGANAM. Your service towards spreading Muraliganam with single-minded devotion and spirit is unparalleled. May Lord Yogananda Lakshmi Nrusimha Swamy's and Ubhaya Jagadgurus' blessings and protection be showing on you all the time. I am one of you fans just for one single and best reason that you have been doing all that you could to bring the Muraliganam to all (Pandithas and Paamaras like me).. All the very best.
Respected Murthy Sir, Thank you for uploading this. This is one masterly concert. Each song is wonderfully rendered. Kharaharapriya is simply superb. I had never heard Aadamodi Galade in this style, altogether a different treatment to Charukesi. The violinist TGT Sir has done an amazing job. Hatz off to TU Sir too. Your comments and timestamp of songs deserve great appreciation. Thank you so much and to Shri T K Ramkumar 🙏🙏🙏
I was studying 1st year B Com then and this concert was held in the spacious play area of the college where I was studying ie Seshadripuram College in the heart of Bangalore. I guess the crowd was nothing less than 3000 to 3500 or even more that evening. Even Dr.MBK Garu was noticeably thrilled to see the vast crowd. It was the first time I was attending the master's concert and ever since then I have hardly missed any concert of Sri MBK Garu in Bangalore and it was my great luck that after some time he even remembered my name as I once told my Pravara and bowed to him About the contents and quality of the concert, many have already described in many beautiful words. But what I distinctly observed was there were many many teenagers and people in their early twenties in the crowd and each one was enjoying the concert with rapt attention and didn't move till the end. If someone asks me whether I have tasted Nectar, I refer to this concert and say 'yes'. Srinivas Murthy Garu, thank you very much for bringing back these wonderful memories. Namaskarams.
I have great memories of this concert ,it was packed house before 6pm ,concert was started around 7:20 pm went on to 11pm ,what a great concert indeed, unforgettable each one kruti, especially Reetigowala and Revathi Rtp make spl and colourful memories of this concert. After the concert i took the late night bus to reach home, offcourse every member of our family attended the concert with full enthusiasm and passion.
Yet another jem from the treasure trove of muraligaanam. What Sri Murthy garu says about BMK bears repetition. In his pursuit of excellence, nay perfection, BMK was verily his own competition.
Om Sree Sai Rama. Today by chanced upon listening to the concert. Grateful to Sri Srinivasa Murthy Garu for taking efforts in bringing out for music lovers.
This is a marvelous concert- One of the top 5 concerts of Maestro Very nostalgic indeed I attended this concert with my brother and recorded the whole concert in National Panosonic tape recorder those days using Sony audio tapes It was a Packed house and Sri BMK enthralled Rasikas After the concert completed around 11 am we met him and he invited us to meet him the next day in Woodlands Hotel he stayed, Next day we spent almost an hour He was thrilled to see young folks more so Physicans take interest in Carnatic music, I did not know much music and so I took a knowledgeable young physician from Sheshadripuram with me He spike about the need for youngsters to listen and propagate music It was a great hour of my life which I relish till today Ananatha koti namaskarams to Sreenivasa Murhty and Ramakumer for their relentless service 🙏💐
Thanks for sharing your listening reflections and reminiscences with all of us. Your highlighting point on youngsters listening to the whole concert is so inspiring.
Sir, thank u very much for preserving and sharing these precious gems. I am one among u who has been listening to sir,s music for the last 30_40 years. I rarely missed sir,s concerts held in bangalore. The day of his concert was a festival day for me. I was very busy making preparations to record the program with my small cassette recorder. I still preserved some of those recordings which I would like to hand it over to u so that u can share those tapes with rasikas after remastering them if neded. Kindly furnish your address to where I have to ship them. With regards, A. N. Achar, Bangalore, ph: 99 86 35 93 70.
Not only that, I have collected and preserved about 125 cassetes of dr. BMK,s various cassetes recorded by sangeeta and other companies which includes 25 cassettes of St. Thyagaraja alone.
Rightly observed. No hypnotic voices to pull and hold the audiences. If BMK was in this era, he would have still made public to gather though the taste of people is different now due to evolution in many aspects.
Your narrative about the concert was really interesting to read. The concert was indeed very enjoyable and soulful. I can imagine the joy of those who had the opportunity of listening to it live. Anantam anantAnantam paramAnandam was Revati. ThanarUpi was remarkable. Varaleela gana was a cute melody in the middle. Thank you for sharing this priceless melody which you had preserved over 42 years!
a crude/rough estimate of drbmk's conert years from 1940-2016 -- > 76 yrs --> avg 50concerts/yr ? 76 *50 = 3800 .. we still have how many to get more? arent we blessed even with these precious few ? YES!! but, .. we need more!!!!

Great musician. His absence in the world of music has created a big vacuum. Cannot be compensated by any body.

Murthygaru you have done it again! This is so clear and beautiful.
There was a confusion between ಸಕಲ ದೇವ ಪೂಜಿತಮ್ and ಸುಂದರ ಹಾಸ ವದನಂ in tanarupi 😀. Better than the best concert as always!!
