If you know how to properly use cavs yes bloodthirst is incredibly useful to takeda/any cav tactics. Try to attack/ambush whenever you can as you play takeda, best on rainy days with no hills. Weaken your enemy’s morale with monks. Try to steal a kill on their generals if there’s a chance. Avoid charging into spear walls head-on or prolong melee with spear infantries. Ashigarus are vulnerable to morale debuffs so a a charge from their back will do the deed. If you choose to play cavs your goal is to crush your enemy’s morale before killing them. Don’t panic when stupid AI ashigaru chase your cavs. Just take ’em for a good walk and they will submit as you smite down the rest.
"We are, the Oda" Seriously though, I beat the campaign alot with Oda, their decent is you dominate early and make good choices of the Takeda and Hojo are good choice, but you'd be having to ask for military access to get across and attack the other clan's.
Glad to see you're still making shogun 2 videos. Was wondering if you'd be willing to give us a video/tutorial on how you go about campaign map movement, combat strategy, and being divided by the enemy. For example the Oda and Takeda are splitting up my attention to two different ends of the map.
I played chosokabe as my first shogun 2 vanilla campaign (hard difficulty). I have to say they were difficult to play, i ended the campaign having fullfilled the key provinces goals although i only had 12/25 required. It was because from the begining everybody declared war on me, but once i conquered sikoku another problem emerged - i was blocked by the sea. I didnt really have money to upkeep a strong navy, not to mention other clans kept blocking my ports and attacking my trade. Anyways good vid
I'm aware, the timing of the 2Game link is poor timing, but that decent price will still be available in a year, whereas the Steam sale only lasts a few weeks. Judging from my other Top X videos, this video will still be watched months if not years from now.
Yari Ashigaru can (or at least used to) be able to beat Katana Samurai in a 1v1 if the unit is in it's Yari Wall formation and no Samurai are wrapping around the sides of the unit. Combine this with double stacking Ashigaru ontop of each other and you basically have Hopilites. The Oda on the other hand with Long Yari Ashigaru can actually hold castles and defensive lines into the late game compared to regular Ashigaru. Which is why when I used to play online against people, I would field a strong/cheap Yari Ashigaru core that was backed up by some bows and higher tier Cavalry.
If you play correctly you can take the shogun in just a few years as Oda. All you need to do is mass recruit yari/bow ashigaru until you have 2 full armies, then march on the shogunate. You can literally auto decide the battle and win due to superior numbers.
I was hoping the Date would be on this list, but I am not upset that they are not. Although they have a good starting position like the Shimazu, get a blacksmith right off, and are next to provinces with stone and iron, they clan traits are pretty limited and they got a whopping two clan based units.
xiahoupaul19 my first win was with the Date, I love their start position. Sure, it's a bother to try and get across the map early on, once you get going, you can blitzkrieg your way through the game by BANZAAAIII charging the world
@Carlo Bresciani Honestly, once I take Miyagi I don't have any problems with the Hatakeyama anymore since they seem to be at war with a lot of other clans as well. I've never taken Miyagi and then had to face a dread stack afterwards. The only problem with the Date is, like you said, the northern provinces are huge.
Tbh the Otomo is one of my go to clans and is my favorite personally. all of the provinces surrounding you’re starting area are all valuable. To the West you have trading ports and war horses and the rest are very wealthy and have fertile soil. if you can capture it all you will be set for the rest of most of the game however it’s hard to control provinces since you’re religion is Christianity and you will have a very hard to converting some of them so you will need to hire a lot of missionary’s. You’re main army should be set however because the main 2 clans that I personally think that you will have issues with is the Takeda and the Date from what I have seen in my playthroughs.
in history, the odas hated the ikko ikki, cuz of defeating there previous enemy the miyoshi. Oda Nobunaga had to face four enemies. Azai, Asakura,Miyosi, and the ikko ikki. but he made a peace treaty with the azai and the asakura. and fought all the warrior monks.which gave Nobunaga a hard time to unify japan
Oda was given buffs i think keeping in a scent of the history afterall it was Nobunaga and his two retainers who led the unification of Japan.... Nobunaga's father Nobuhide was often called the tiger of Owari....and Nobunaga who once was called the fool of owari later on became a fierce tactical and martial power .... A much better understanding of the Japanese warring estate era known as Sengoku jidai can be achieved by playing the game "Nobunaga's ambition" and its awesome and then there's a similar theme game concerning china ROTK- "Romance of the three kingdom" which is another gem
Having a blacksmith in you hometown is a very big plus to me. The Hojo has cheaper castles, so it's easier to fit more military buildings. Furthermore they have a gold mine, 2 provinces, start near 2 schools and a lot of weak targets to the right. The Date have acces on 1 trade and don't have to worry about having to fight on multiple flanks. So I'd say that the Hojo is a very good pick and that is mainly due to location.
Nice video, man! Even though I've been playing the game modded as of late, I also still put Shimazu and Takeda in the top 5. That being said I love playing as Uesugi, mostly because of the flavor and the legend of Kenshin.
Might have to swap the Ikko with the Chosokobe in my book. You basically have 0 friends when playing as the Ikko, Choso has the small island they can take quickly/good income from farms. I felt like when ever I play Ikko I kept having to take a city then turtle it because someone was always at war with me
I picked Oda blindly as the first playthrough clan, but started hiring samurais and horokus or some shit, haven't ended the campaign, but guess I will conquer 25 provinces under 10 years with ashigarus)
O yiss, my fav clan is No1. Whenever I play Oda I never go beyond Ashigaru units (and Light Cav). You will have 2-3 armies for each one of your enemy's and the difference in troop quality will be negligible thanks to experience and province buffs.
Oda Yari Ashigaru, Oda Long Yari Ashigaru, Oda bow Ashigaru and Oda Matchlock Ashigaru with melee buffs are pretty unstoppable, and they are cheap. I also nickname the Oda as the Prussian of the Sengoku Era.
Late game isn't a problem for oda even if they dont take half the map early, as by then you have the remarkably cheap oda matchlock ashigaru, can field three to four stacks for anyone else's single stack, and just drown everyone in spears and guns.
I really agree with ikko ikki in my gameplay not on legendary but on hard i managed to conquer kyoto with their ashigaru and managed one of my best batlles in shogun 2 But after 2 turns i lost kyoto because as you might expect most of my army was dead so i was attacked by 3500 army of shimazu i ahd something around 600 i lost this battle but i managed to kill 3000 soldiers of their army and after 3 turns my main army with warrior monks coquered kyoto once again
I don't know dude. Tokugawa are brown and gold, which if you squint looks orange. That counts for something, it's not like Hattori or Hojo come anywhere near a glorious shade.
Hattori def gonna make that list. I like the clan but my god do i hate their starting position/fact their units are more expensive Mori a stinker too , buffs to the Navy just never seemed important to me.
Mori have a very interesting starting position though, so that one is likely to come down to personal preference whether they're a bottom dweller or a mid rank clan.
whats funny is when i first got shogun total war 2 a few years back being a seasoned total war player i chose the oda (do to me being a huge history buff anyway) i ended up haven half the map by a few turns just using those units (with some mix of katana samuri and some fire bomb throwers and trebs for later parts of the game after i raped the northern part)
Honestly my favorite clan is the uesugi as, they have bonuses to trade, are the best in the normal Buddhist religion, and the uesugi also have improvements to their warrior monks, and to me the uesugi bow warrior monks are one of the strongest units in the ranged category, also the melee warrior monks(can’t spell the spear name) have the war cry, combine that with the whistling arrows of the bow monks, you just utterly destroy your opponent’s moral. In addition echigo the home province is big enough to allow you time to prepare for an invasion, and it’s gives you a hard start which gives you a fun challenge.
i like your choice of best clans in total war: shogun 2 btw i am extremely devoted to the oda and refuse to serve anyone only the oda cuz i am a fan of warlord Oda nobunaga
My favorite clan are the Ikko, I genuinely love the way they play. I'm going to watch your video on them and try my best to figure out how to play them. Many thanks 😊
Granted the ODA on legendary is one of the hardest starting positions ever! Legit all of your neighbours are gonna end up in war with you! (Kitabatake almost always die to the Tsutsui). And sooner or later either IKKO IKKI or Hattori are gonna declare war on you. My advcice: Spam sshigaru -> take what you can -> turtle-> steamroll late with 5 full armies of ashigaru!
If you have not gotten Medieval 2 yet I will warn you. It is the most overrated game in the world. Its super buggy, glitchy and quite frankly everything about it is broken. Not worth the money even with a steam sale.
@@siegelink9549 Super buggy and glitchy? Your experience is very different from mine, it can even run on Windows 10 laptop fine. Still, blackpowder infantries and pikes can feel finicky, so there's that to be worried about.
I agree with the number 1 spot. Oda was the first clan I played when I got shogun 2. It's a very good noob-friendly clan like the Shimazu mainly because of its clan bonus. Besides, who doesn't like mowing down cavalry with a solid spear wall and a row of archers behind it?
I still consider Shogun 2 as best TW so far, before this is was Medieval 2. And I'm not a huge expert in these games, I never won any, no matter how many times I tried, but the game where even sucking is pleasent and you actually know that you're learning, I think deserves a place in hall of fame
I Agree with most of your picks but I still think the Chosokabe should snag a spot on the top five, their location is well placed, their food production rate make them stable and their trade abilities give them a good treasury boost which enables you to recruit a relatively strong army at an early stage. Plus the game tutorial automatically starts with the Chosokabe...
I would put Date on either 3 or 4, mostly bc of Date No-dachi, IF you manage to get them close, that's it, you won. While I always find besieging a chore, defensive battles are sweet and easy.
Haha I took your advice before I got shogun two. Got the orange, spammed yari and long yari ashigaru, Beelined for Kyoto, triggered realm divide after taking Kyoto, getting surrounded……… oh and my economy commuted toaster bath
@@MrSmartDonkeyLP you never did but i decided screw it and you replyng to this was the last thing i ever expected. keep up the amazing TW content. while pixelated apollo (and kinda also oversimplified) got me into total war. you're the reason i got shogun. im quite new to the total war series. my first (and favorite) game was three kingdoms because the retinue and diplomacy systems are better in my opinion (why did they remove the retinues for troy i loved just deleting an army and redeploying it across the whole map with -5 muster turns and steamrolling my enemies) my second favorite is actually napoleon because it fits my playstyle which is sit back and do nothing and let the stupid AI murder itself. 3rd is shogun because its total war shogun. do i really have to explain. holy hell ive been "talking" way to long
Militarily, Oda having bonuses to the cheapest and most spammable unit in the game makes them really tough in defence sieges Of course they cannot withstand a full assault with everything the enemy haves, but they can at least kill a lot of their troops beofre falling (or give you some big heroic victories if you manage to kill all proyectiles) In economics, you can have a lot of armies spread in your territory and still win a lot of money As terms of appearence and cool factor -Their colours look great in everytjing -Pike and Shot
I would have put Date on the list, the charge bonus is good early game when most armies are equally matched. You have access to a blacksmith to recruit better units on turn one. You can easily caputure the northern trade node. I consider the starting position for date very safe because you can ally with Hatakeyama on turn one and always keep your war-front moving west. You will almost never have to fight a war on two fronts (with proper naval protection).
Their starting position is very slow, and they the No Dachi isn’t a strong enough singleplayer unit for me. I also generally don’t ally with people if I could just take their towns instead. For me the Date were close to making this list but not quite there.
Agreed, Date's start is not only slow but also the farthest away from more strategic resources than any other clan. I'd rank them about 7th personally. Still a fun clan to play, and neat colors.
Since I played with Oda I tried to spam ashigaru for every clan, especially Otomo, yari ashigaru from satsuma with 7 armor served with some nicely seasoned Portuguese Tercos, fuck I love that combination.
I have only actually finished one full campaign of Shogun 2 as of now and it was my first full total war campaign. In that campaign, I did in fact not build even a single Katana samurai unit... hell, I am not sure I built any samurai at all. I just spammed bow ashigaru and imported matchlocks for dem easy defenses and then later on spammed Portugese.
So because shogun 2 was free on steam and i never played a total war game before i tried it out. This is what i did. Short campaign, normal difficulty , start as Oda(because that was the one ive heared of first due to playing civ 5). If you can believe it i never recruited any sword units and only yari, bow and cav (didnt know siege existed). Because of that one mission to get the yari master i only did the combat part of the tech tree. It was going pretty well untill i triggered the shogun to attack me and therefore the rest of japan save my 2 allies(one of wich betrayed me later and the other i betrayed later). I did not prepare but lukily i had 10k moey at the time(i wanted to upgrade my castle or get the yari hero for when i unlocked it). But in the end it was all good managed to win at round 50 or 51. 10/10 would oda again.
Oda also have slightly buffed Matchlock Ashigaru as well~ its so satisfying to lock the enemy with ur buffed Oda Yari Ashigaru, then maneuver ur Matchlocks behind and just execute them...as long as they dont have any free cavalry of course
Are you trying to role play as the real life Oda Nobunaga? Only things you left to do for a full role play is to promote Christianity, suppress Buddhism, and exterminate warrior monks especially the Ikko Ikki ones at every chance. XD.
@@pypy1986820 how would i do this if he never actually converted to Christianity though? XD i know he was cool with it, but unlike the Otomo, he never took the full leap. though the ikko ikki one i do get, i suppress the hell outta em if im able early on, unless they somehow became the other superpower clan, then itll be a Sekigahara with em.
i creat a mod that shimazu clan start at N.shinano (the origin of shimazu clan) and it‘s fun shimazu is for noob, but after i play all the clan (realism dominate campaign) i feel comfortable with shimazu it can play religious war with all the clan on south and ally with otomo
My the most favourite clans are Ikko Ikki and Otomo. Otomo just has very powerful sticks, that can fire by fire and smoke, and Ikko Ikki... Monks))))))
I came here after my first Chosokabe legendary domination attempt, Realm divided ended my rule rather quickly. only needed 20 more with Kyoto made me big sad.
For me it’s the Date, the no dachi charge backed up with Bullet proof samurai to take the brunt of the fire is ridiculously devastating, tho they are slow to get going due to the size of the northern provinces
Their slow starting position is the main reason I kep them off this list. I also don’t think no-dachi are *that* strong. They were one of the middling clans I was talking about. Good, but not quite good enough.
MrSmartDonkeyLP Ehhh idk The date were the first clan I won on legendary and it was completely off the back of the no dachi charge with max Attack from a blacksmith and A ju jitsu dojo, with Yari cab and Bullet proof as support, I never lost a single battle after I had my core 3 armies set up this way, as the charge would instantly break their katana samurai front lines. Although I whole heartedly agree with having the Oda, takeda and Ikko Clans, great list and I’m glad to see you’re back to making videos again
hafid lho The ONLY clan that can give you trouble are the Takeda, because they field much heavier cavalry based armies which require you to be much more careful with your positioning
I think Chosokabe's position beats that of no.5. You're protected, and can springboard to Kyoto. From there, you have interior lines to mop up the country. Plus buddhism :). Yari at no.1? A shameful dispray!
i lovethe shimazu is my favirot caln mainly becsue i love sword units but this has the dis advantage of leaving you wek to cav. but fer not for my scnd facirot ting GUNS can slove this problem 3 shimazu ashigarue gunner units vs 1 cav? what cav i say! haha. i wud higly recoamde this caln for any one that loves guns and katan samurie. i first pickd this facion due to the anime series Driferts noting els rlly. btw keep up the great worke love your videos! :D
I didn't forget, the Uesugi have one of the hardest starting positions in the game, and Ikko Ikki and Chosokabe get better Bow Warrior Monks too, the Uesugi bonus is pretty mediocre.
Chosokabe, for sure can field better Bow Warrior Monks due to an inherent archery advantage, but ikko ikki warrior monks are nearly at par with uesugi. hmmmm ur ryt about the position, it can be attacked from 2 sides. Considering one front with vassal.
As a one piece fan I had no choice but to start this game with the oda and good god is it fun to start out. Beat the rebellion hard and beat the take da that immediately follows then take the town cause they put everything into the initial army and leave only retainers then boom youre off to the races.
You forgot to mention the ikko ikki having an orange mon
What! But that is the main reason I pick that clan! How could one forget they have an orange Mon?
Damn, I knew I forgot something!
I also love orange 😂, but also dark purple 🤔😂

Seriously though, I beat the campaign alot with Oda, their decent is you dominate early and make good choices of the Takeda and Hojo are good choice, but you'd be having to ask for military access to get across and attack the other clan's.
Chosokabe - great starting position - and a souped up Bow Samurai are brilliant
Chosokabe also seemed to me a lot harder than advertised. Good on paper but... yeah not so great in reality.
I love Classical Antiquity and the Medieval period the best, but this game is hands down the pinnacle of the series.
Tokugawa is my favorite clan for me. I just love that you have to play carefully and pick your cards right.
It's that time of year when I play Shogun 2 again.
Chosokable are my favourite. the clour scheme, the flag and the archers and location are good enough to build a stronghold island.
steam is currently having a sale, you can pick up shogun 2 and and all dlc for less than 30 u.s dollars :)
I'm aware, the timing of the 2Game link is poor timing, but that decent price will still be available in a year, whereas the Steam sale only lasts a few weeks. Judging from my other Top X videos, this video will still be watched months if not years from now.
sorry i wasn't aware of the link if i was i wouldn't have posted that sorry :(
Oh, no worries bud, as I said, my link will be relevant in a few weeks.
I bought the gold edition on a dvd for 18 dolars in the local store.
@@MrSmartDonkeyLP Yep, you are absolutely right
oda isn't a surprise to anyone. you can win the fastest legendary game by playing oda and spamming ashigaru.
Second that :3
It is to me they are annoying to play I just punish my self with them
Shogun 2: Ashigaru Spam
Attile: Horse Archer Spam
Medevil 2: heavy calvery spam
Fots: armstrong gun spam
Ive recently gotten the game due to the steam summer sale and ive been watching some of your legendary campaigns. Im glad I got into this game!
You are amazing-I never thought that there is someone who would love this game more than me !!
I was hoping the Date would be on this list, but I am not upset that they are not. Although they have a good starting position like the Shimazu, get a blacksmith right off, and are next to provinces with stone and iron, they clan traits are pretty limited and they got a whopping two clan based units.
xiahoupaul19 same, everytime i play date i just spam no dachi and yari cavalry, charge them and win
xiahoupaul19 my first win was with the Date, I love their start position. Sure, it's a bother to try and get across the map early on, once you get going, you can blitzkrieg your way through the game by BANZAAAIII charging the world
My first win was with Shimazu. Very noob friendly and like the Date super easy and safe start location.
have you tried spamming bulletproof samurai?
@Carlo Bresciani Honestly, once I take Miyagi I don't have any problems with the Hatakeyama anymore since they seem to be at war with a lot of other clans as well. I've never taken Miyagi and then had to face a dread stack afterwards. The only problem with the Date is, like you said, the northern provinces are huge.
Pretty sure that Ikko Ikki should've been #1, but then again, you didn't include color of the mon in your preference list.
For me the top 5 would have Chosokabe, Shimazu, Oda, Ikko Ikki, and Takeda.
But I personally enjoy the challenges presented playing the Mori Clan.
The Oda I found very easy to play as because I like to use spearmen. They’re the most common unit.
Azai, Asakura,Miyosi, and the ikko ikki. but he made a peace treaty with the azai and the asakura. and fought all the warrior monks.which gave Nobunaga a hard time to unify japan
ikko ikkis were the good guys, oda were imperial villains
Oda was given buffs i think keeping in a scent of the history afterall it was Nobunaga and his two retainers who led the unification of Japan.... Nobunaga's father Nobuhide was often called the tiger of Owari....and Nobunaga who once was called the fool of owari later on became a fierce tactical and martial power .... A much better understanding of the Japanese warring estate era known as Sengoku jidai can be achieved by playing the game "Nobunaga's ambition" and its awesome and then there's a similar theme game concerning china ROTK- "Romance of the three kingdom" which is another gem
i had a feeling that was a special person when the computer mauled me with him
@@MrNinjaone1 judging by the fact historical daimyos usually die early on the game, your ass is getting beated by another oda guy
This list is pretty spot on, my only change would be swapping the Shimazu and Ikko-Ikki but thats due to my playstyle.
Might have to swap the Ikko with the Chosokobe in my book.
You basically have 0 friends when playing as the Ikko, Choso has the small island they can take quickly/good income from farms.
I felt like when ever I play Ikko I kept having to take a city then turtle it because someone was always at war with me
you can use most stupid way to 0 lost, especially siege- chosokabe long bow, arrow everything over enemy range,if bulding, fine-fire set!
I picked Oda blindly as the first playthrough clan, but started hiring samurais and horokus or some shit, haven't ended the campaign, but guess I will conquer 25 provinces under 10 years with ashigarus)
I personally rank the Date rather highly, since they have a amazing start. And well BANZAI.
I really agree with ikko ikki in my gameplay not on legendary but on hard i managed to conquer kyoto with their ashigaru and managed one of my best batlles in shogun 2
But after 2 turns i lost kyoto because as you might expect most of my army was dead so i was attacked by 3500 army of shimazu i ahd something around 600 i lost this battle but i managed to kill 3000 soldiers of their army and after 3 turns my main army with warrior monks coquered kyoto once again
I can't wait for the top 5 worst clans, wonder which clan will be last. Cough, Tokugawa, cough.
I don't know dude. Tokugawa are brown and gold, which if you squint looks orange. That counts for something, it's not like Hattori or Hojo come anywhere near a glorious shade.
Well at least they are the most unique clan in the game. The only vassal u can play xD
Hattori def gonna make that list. I like the clan but my god do i hate their starting position/fact their units are more expensive
Mori a stinker too , buffs to the Navy just never seemed important to me.
Mori have a very interesting starting position though, so that one is likely to come down to personal preference whether they're a bottom dweller or a mid rank clan.
Comradcommodore it's not that hard. Omi is a great province to take. And has a really good battle map to defend against the ikko Ikki with.
I'd put the otomo waaay higher up the list an otomo gunline can absolutely break an enemy charge if you play your cards right
Date for life man! Can't beat that charge bonus!!
The date are so ezz i love it you just sweep through japan in one direction with the gold armour units
whats funny is when i first got shogun total war 2 a few years back being a seasoned total war player i chose the oda (do to me being a huge history buff anyway) i ended up haven half the map by a few turns just using those units (with some mix of katana samuri and some fire bomb throwers and trebs for later parts of the game after i raped the northern part)
In addition echigo the home province is big enough to allow you time to prepare for an invasion, and it’s gives you a hard start which gives you a fun challenge.
lol I got this game recently and immediately assumed the Shimazu was the noob friendly clan so I picked them first
4:34 Thats why my friend lost 12 Battles against that Faction, The neighboring country of Oda. EARLY GAME
I love when you mention the Dunderbuss Cavalry, and if you look closely one of the horses explodes from friendly fire, hilarious
I didn't even realize units could ff themselves! That's hilarious.
I was sure ikko Ikki would take the no. 1 but when you placed them at 2, I knew the oda had snatched the no 1 spot
Oda finish the campaing with half turns, but my favorite is date
i like your choice of best clans in total war: shogun 2 btw i am extremely devoted to the oda and refuse to serve anyone only the oda cuz i am a fan of warlord Oda nobunaga
Top 5 based on gameplay
1. Uesugi
2. Date
3. Ikko-Ikki
4. Shimazu
5. Otomo
Top 5 based on history
1. Uesugi
2. Shimazu
3. Takeda
4. Oda
5. Tokugawa
There is a diplomacy fix mod that keeps the ai killswitch from going off.
My first campaign was with the Date clan nd ended with me becoming the Shogun 😍
My favorite clan are the Ikko, I genuinely love the way they play. I'm going to watch your video on them and try my best to figure out how to play them. Many thanks 😊
Totally in agreement with Oda #1 and Ikko Ikki, you could add to their favor for both clans, the proximity to Kyoto.
Please do Total war game reviews! I hate watching/reading reviews from sites or people who aren't actually into playing total war.
God, i love video like this from you! Could you make more something like this?
Oda is my favourite clan to play and I can confirm that long yari Ashigaru are almost impossible to be defeated by any close range unit.
Shogun 2 best Totalwar :) - i hope 3 kingdoms will be like that 😍
Is it any good..
For the life of me, I really couldn't figure who could be #1, but your justification makes total sense.
Haha I took your advice before I got shogun two. Got the orange, spammed yari and long yari ashigaru, Beelined for Kyoto, triggered realm divide after taking Kyoto, getting surrounded……… oh and my economy commuted toaster bath
That’s my one problem with the oda, they start pretty much smack dab in the middle of everyone. Realm divide is annoying as hell playing as them
@@Barrystue I don’t think I’ve ever advised to beeline for Kyoto 😝
3rd is shogun because its total war shogun. do i really have to explain. holy hell ive been "talking" way to long
also who would win. donderbuss cav or revolver cav
just looked them both up and revolver has more range so we have a winner
Militarily, Oda having bonuses to the cheapest and most spammable unit in the game makes them really tough in defence sieges
Of course they cannot withstand a full assault with everything the enemy haves, but they can at least kill a lot of their troops beofre falling (or give you some big heroic victories if you manage to kill all proyectiles)
In economics, you can have a lot of armies spread in your territory and still win a lot of money
As terms of appearence and cool factor
-Their colours look great in everytjing
-Pike and Shot
What I love About the Ikko-Ikki is, that they have an orange mon!
Since I played with Oda I tried to spam ashigaru for every clan, especially Otomo, yari ashigaru from satsuma with 7 armor served with some nicely seasoned Portuguese Tercos, fuck I love that combination.
Golden armor Ashigaru is the best shield while the Portuguese Tercos is the best spike.
I have only actually finished one full campaign of Shogun 2 as of now and it was my first full total war campaign. In that campaign, I did in fact not build even a single Katana samurai unit... hell, I am not sure I built any samurai at all. I just spammed bow ashigaru and imported matchlocks for dem easy defenses and then later on spammed Portugese.
every time i do a campaing, ikko-ikki are almost always destroying everyone early, it's insane
Shimazu #1 honourable and skilled fighters in all of Japan
They called shimazu demon's)))))
The Shinmazu were the first clan I played but I thought they were really difficult
They've actually the easiest but taking the town north of the starting town is incredibly difficult. If you can do that, you're set.
The Tokugawa are the best. Why, because Daimyo Matsudaira Hirotada's horned helmet is so cool looking.
Oda also have slightly buffed Matchlock Ashigaru as well~
its so satisfying to lock the enemy with ur buffed Oda Yari Ashigaru, then maneuver ur Matchlocks behind and just execute them...as long as they dont have any free cavalry of course
XD
i know he was cool with it, but unlike the Otomo, he never took the full leap. though the ikko ikki one i do get, i suppress the hell outta em if im able early on, unless they somehow became the other superpower clan, then itll be a Sekigahara with em.
i creat a mod that shimazu clan start at N.shinano (the origin of shimazu clan)
and it‘s fun
shimazu is for noob, but after i play all the clan (realism dominate campaign) i feel comfortable with shimazu
it can play religious war with all the clan on south and ally with otomo
My the most favourite clans are Ikko Ikki and Otomo. Otomo just has very powerful sticks, that can fire by fire and smoke, and Ikko Ikki... Monks))))))
Wow i've never met someone else who's favorite color is orange.
Elsneakakaze He's from weedland, thus he loves Orange
+MoshedZ comes from Jewland thus he likes oppressing women.
@Denis You must be a Geordie!
I came here after my first Chosokabe legendary domination attempt, Realm divided ended my rule rather quickly. only needed 20 more with Kyoto made me big sad.
Never liked chosokabe
HELL YES THE SERIES IS BACK!!
Tigerairlines truee, in the late game my no dachi samurai have 40 charge bonus, every enemy i charge didn't last 30s
hafid lho The ONLY clan that can give you trouble are the Takeda, because they field much heavier cavalry based armies which require you to be much more careful with your positioning
Your persistence is amazed
Ha I knew the Oda was strong everytime i went against them or was them they always freaking killed so much.
Oh come on, Dãte has been my favourite clan because of that plus bonus charge to every unit.
do one for FOTS, I love this game, best total war ever, and one of my most favorite games
I knew #1 is my fav clan! Best feeling when you outnumber the enemies..
I'm Downloading Shogun 2 right now watched your worst factions of it im gonna try those factions first
I think Chosokabe's position beats that of no.5.
Well its kinda accurate if you prefer oda clan because oda clan was pretty powerful during sengoku period
Yours was a great point of view for sure, but you forgot something - Uesugi and their Bow Warrior Monks.
He is right about Oda, i played a campaign with them and 12 turns turns later...
I own most of the map
Yup. I even sometimes TRY to not just invade shit, but the AI constantly forces me to conquer the world.
As a one piece fan I had no choice but to start this game with the oda and good god is it fun to start out. Beat the rebellion hard and beat the take da that immediately follows then take the town cause they put everything into the initial army and leave only retainers then boom youre off to the races.
Loan sword ashigaru as basic units can get pretty insane
I try to play as Takede, but I notice that my Enemies use very many Yari-Units, which makes it hard to use my Cavalry-based Army efficiently.
you have to use them like shingen did, in ambushes, hammer and anvil and with actual infantry support. you shouldn't do cavalry only armies
