My favorite Bleach moment
When it happened…
It’s so funny to see how quick you’ve joined the Don Kanonji joke. Truly one of the most powerful beings. Also the Aizen and Urahara paranoia has settled in lol. Momo’s situation is genuinely sad. She was groomed and manipulated and Kubo doesn’t shy away from showing how badly it fucked her up.
Again I say this every time but I love hearing your theories on what’s happening and the subtext going on. It’s fun to see what you hit, miss, and pick up on
What Don Kanonji “joke”? He’s a professional, an icon, and national treasure that must be protected at all cost ;)

You didn't talk about this scene, but I really like when Rukia talks to Orihime about Urahara not letting her join the fight. First Rukia treats her like she would Ichigo like scolding her to find her courage but changes to a gentler approach when she sees that's the wrony way to go about it with her. It also lets Orihime say her true feelings, it's not about a warrior's pride that she feels bad being left aside but she just wants to be of help to all her friends and feel worthy to stand by their side as shes only internalized up to this point. Before this, it felt like these two were just friendly acquaintances but now they feel like proper friends.
Also good to see finally someone give Momo a break, the poor girl has just has the biggest shock of her life after like maybe 40 years of believing the person she had in highest esteem is a horrible person and he manipulated her exactly to be like that. Of course it is gonna take more than a bit to accept the truth and start moving on.
Sorry for the long post just had feelings about those two things.
Orihime is the true human face of the series. A healer and protector who's acts of kindness want to be on the battlefield if only to heal makes her admirable along with wanting to protect her home her way. Others fight and kill either to protect, to keep the status quo intact or out of simple psychotic rage yet she does not bow to that. Orihime is an angel of mercy.
Yeah a lot of people used to hate Orihime especially if they saw the anime only. But she genuinely has such a tragic past yet still moves forward with a smile.
It is really fitting that Kubo chose to focus on Orihime in the arc centered around the Hollows. She provides a wonderful contrast to someone like Ulquiorra, someone who is so full of kindness and emotions contrasted with someone so cold and ruthless. One of the best dynamics of the series, imo.
@@sanddry738 That's what also makes her so admirable. She had an awful early life yet decided to see the good bright side of life. Others have had everything yet would happily commit the worst atrocities to see their visions come true, said visions are typically exclusive and exclusionary. Orihime stands a gentle opposite of that.
@@jrgenvellesen7800 Indeed. Ultimately she and Kon essentially serve to contrast almost everyone else in the series. They are the only ones who do not seek conflict or bloodshed while being morally opposed to killing no matter what.
@@manuelacosta9463 Yes. This is also why she and Ichigo grow so close. At their core, they are both protectors who wish to help others and live a normal, happy life. They both serve as a strong contrast to the major antagonists of the series, who seek to bring changes but are willing to let anyone that they see as less than themselves suffer.
On Shinigami surviving things that could easily kill a human ten times over: since they are souls given shape, shinigami are REALLY hard to kill, because they don't have as much of a fragile anatomy as us. Basically they regenerate like Wolverine, or Deadpool (but slower).
About Orihime, one thing I believe should be highlighted is her own individual feelings to the events of the Arrancar saga and how it came out during her talk with Rangiku. It's so human, understandable, and is also a great look at Rangiku who can as mature & thoughtful as she is silly & overbearing.
I really like the plot-line of the manipulation Aizen put Momo through affecting both her and Toshiro throughout the Arrancar arc. It adds both a very human element to the whole conflict, and shows how much influence Aizen has over someone, even without the use of his powers.

Kubo has some of the best foreshadowing in the business, and paying attention pays off, if not always in the way you expect.

I wondered if it was intentional when discussing Aizen he said shatter seeing as how that is the command for kyoka suigetsu. I will say that if there is anyone that knows what Aizen is thinking it is Kisuke when discussing how he is trying to sideline Orihime.

I feel like Orihime and Ichigo share some of the same personality and outlook but done through a female lens vs a male lens. She's a protector in her own right like Ichigo.

Here Kubo hadn't yet matured the concept of the Reiou, let alone the entire Royal Dimension.
It’s implied all the way back in the SS arc and even in the Substitute Shinigami Arc with the “royal family. Which is insane foreshadowing/Kubo incorporating it down the line if it wasn’t intended

I rewatched Bleach recently and came to the realization that Orihime is useless. She is just eye candy despite having the best abilities in the show
You didnt pay attention than. Ichigo wouldnt have gone to ss to save rukia since he hesitated. She stopped the cleaner otherwise the whole gang would have died. Healed a bunch of people in ss. Turned kenpachi to their side. And thats just the ss arc. But let me guess you are one of those idiots who say cant fight offensively = useless?
@@stryperwolf1723 Not the whole series, should have clarified. Mainly after the Rukia arc. In filler she helped the enemy more than the team

Orehime the living plot device she has all types the only reason she isn't hated like Sakura its actually because plot protectors
I mean, Even though she has her attack hairpin fairy back it doesn't mean she's any good at fighting, her hairpin told her that she needed the will to kill the target or it wouldn't work for anything above a regular hollow and we know she's not about that life
(Beyond here there's just my ramblings of what I felt like at the time)
I do remember being exited about the concept that they were hinting at, having Orihime's powers potentially working kinda like a green lantern on a character like her made me think a lot as the casual writer that I was regardless of how right or wrong I might have been, all of her failures and abnormal behaviors would become "you didn't want it hard enough" or "oh she really wanted to do this" And theoretically you could show internal turmoil without her saying anything, imagine her healing becomes less efficient when x is injured, what if she protects someone and it barely works, what if she protects a character that she shouldn't from a mc? imagine she starts attacking and those attacks are really powerful and would be killshots if they hit, you could also do the thing when she doesn't know what to think about something but have her powers show the true state of her heart
I dont wanna spoil anything but it will be interesting when you finally see who the soul king is

4:32 : Do you think Aizen would let Momo and Hitsugaya move on this easily ? Nah, he hasn't finished the emotional torture.
6:40 : Chad is a chad among chads, it's sad that his second name is Worf ( this is a joke, just in case someone willingly reads this without having read/watched the Hueco Mundo arc, he is not literally named Worf )
8:35 : She goes somewhere empty and nocturnal. Oh and she risks all kinds of assaults, yes even the one you're thinking of, only not being subject to the worst of them because Ulquiorra is a nihilist, not a sadist.
