It's amazing how far quality has come down from the past, when we can say we've gotten through a month with our appliance with no problems. They all have built in obsolescence today.

My 10 + year old Bosch works just fine for me, it only has 3 cycles, takes about 90 minutes on regular cycle, no fancy bells & whistles or anti microbial crap. It's a dish washer, it washes dishes not manufacturing penicillin.

GE dishwasher that offered top wash only was the selling pint for me.
In the beginning I had trouble selecting and starting. The built in touch display stopped working years later. It was difficult starting during the push button selection when it was installed. Three years later the selection panel needed to be replaced for $600.

I wrote a lot here because I want to help those who read it. In part it's long because I substantiate what I'm saying.
    Point #1
Check the label on the machine as to where the GE dishwashers/appliances are made. I understand that GE Appliances are now owned by China.
    Point #2
Logic. Does anyone actually need a dishwasher that has WI-FI and smartphone capability?
    Point #3
Heated-Dry setting wastes money. Use "Hi-Temp Wash" instead for better wash results along with satisfactory drying.
    Point #4
Don't use detergent formulas labeled as "Complete" because these muck up the pump, thus causing a strain the motor. Straining the motor, overheats it. Persistently overheating a motor will cause it to burn out. A straining motor raises your electric bill.
Use a detergent that's only a detergent. If you want a rinse agent, use a rinse agent that's only a rinse agent.
    Point #5
The very best dishwasher detergent is, Somat Classic. Pricey, but you never have to wash twice, and it won't hurt your machine. As well, it's environmentally friendly because it's a powder, unlike detergent gels containing water thus adding weight to the trucks shipping the gels. Somat Classic, is also environmentally friendly because you control the amount to use, compared to pods. Pods (for any type of detergent) are known for using more detergent than necessary, thus adding unnecessary detergent into the environment. Thus, wasting your money.
And, NO, I do not work for the company that makes Somat, nor do I have any financial gain to be made from naming it.
I'm a real Yankee, from the New England region in the USA and we can't stand waste or wasting money. I'm old too so I've learned a lot. Everything I've written here I learned the hard way, from being ripped-off, in having to run my dishwasher twice, and through trial and error.
    Point #6
I want to offer help regarding costs.
    a)
If you're shopping for a dishwasher and you find a great buy on one, check out why it's a great buy. Is being discontinued? Is it a troublesome model? Is it built somewhere other than the USA?
There are times when a great buy isn't. And there are times when spending more on something will pay you back in the best of ways. And don't believe salesmen or saleswomen for a number of reasons. One reason is that they always have to do what their sales manager tells them to do. Another reason not to believe them is that, when you do, you're giving them the OK to make decisions for you that are probably not for your benefit. Always check things out on your own. And preferably before shopping and always before buying. Sales personnel that rip people off, can sleep at night because they believe an uninformed consumer is fair game, and it's not their fault if consumers don't study up. An informed consumer has power and is smart about money.
    b)
There isn't any sense out of spending more money for a dishwasher that has WI-FI and smartphone capability. As far as I can tell you can't do anything with that. Being able to start your dishwasher from your office doesn't create a maid at home to load it for you, so that you can start it from the office. And you don't need remote access to check on it, because it's automatic.
    c)
I also mentioned using "Hi-Temp Wash" instead of "Heated-Dry." The reason is that Hi-Temp Wash causes my dishwasher to be so hot that the dishes dry quickly without a heated drying. As well, I prefer this to Sani-Rinse.
I don't have to open the door when it finishes either. Most modern dishwashers have a fan that runs for a while (without heat) after the end of the program. If heated-dry was set, it's going to be consuming more electricity by running the heating element with the fan for the entire heated-dry cycle. But setting the hi-temp wash the heating element will only run as long as it takes to raise the water temperature. And that would be a much shorter time even if your water heater is set very low, because all dishwashers will raise the water temperature to a standard for dishwashing, therefore the heating element is only running long enough to raise the water temperature from that standard.
    d)
The following directly relates to Point #4 above, don't use "Complete" dishwashing detergents/causing damage to your dishwasher/and your electric bill.
I mentioned, Somat is pricey. I tend to be as price conscious as most of us are. I have a good idea of how much things cost. And when something costing more has been introduced to me, I want to know if it's worth it. It deserves looking into because we all know that old saying of "You get what you pay for." Something that deserved looking into is when I learned about Somat. I learned that Somat won't ruin your machine, that's a savings. I never had to run the dishwasher a second time because they didn't wash properly, that's a savings in more ways than one. And I looked at the annual cost. In other words, how many times do I run the dishwasher, and how much do I use in the dishwasher dispensers, then calculated how many bags of Somat I'd use in a one year. Having that figure and weighing it against other annual costs gave me a picture of whether or not the cost of Somat was a concern. I'd say more times than not when something deserved looking into, that I was certain would be expensive, I've found out that it wasn't as expensive as I thought. And other times when the benefits of something expensive outweighed those of the alternative, by knowing the annual figure, I'd look at what might I reduce or cut out of my budget to make it possible. I've found the benefits of Somat to be worth it.
There's satisfaction to be considered too. I still remember years ago, when I opened my dishwasher door after the first time, I used Somat. I was shocked by what I was seeing. The stainless-steel interior of my machine was glowing, the dishes looked glossy like never before, and the tableware was shining like I'd never seen. It was like having a brand-new dishwasher and dishes too. And it was a relief to me because I'd tried every detergent sold and always had bad results. Often, I had to run the dishwasher a second time. I knew it wasn't my machine, it was due to detergents when they had removed the phosphates from the formula. Somat doesn't have phosphates, yet their detergent works great. I learned more that I won't go into here, but in short, the American detergent companies are just ripping us off. Somat is from Germany and that's one reason for the higher cost. No other dishwasher detergent I ever tried has given results that comes close to the Somat.
    God bless.

    WOW.........
I have a basic £200 Kenwood dishwasher which has served me well for three years.
    Rinse dishes before using.
I use it solely on thirty minutes wash cycle with no drying cycle.
Remove all metal and plastic dishes etc on completion to facilitate good drying.
Running long cycles just uses up more energy so keep it down.
I clean filters etc once a month using bleach to halt any mould build up under the door etc.
I have two full sets of dinner service so don't need my plates washed, dried and ready to go in an hour or so!
Love it especially, around the holidays when we have loads of friends and family visiting.

Sorry, all residential appliances today are crap every one of them. They're all owned by a couple of companies and they're all built in the same factories overseas with built in obsolescence. Bosch dw might have a slight edge.
If you want quality that will last you'll have to spend the money and go high end commercial grade.
Bought a Speed Queen washer going on 10 years now. Still works like the day I brought it home. Worth every penny. No Bluetooth, no big sister (Alexa) listening in, doesn't rearrange my family photos or alert me when a celebrity enters into rehab. Just fills with water and washes my cloths.

Hi! You forgot to mention a very important feature (my fist priority for me anyway): do the racks are convenient for my variety of bowls, plates ans glassware? I always bring a sample of them when I go shopping for a dishwasher to check if they fit correctly. I have actually difficulty to find a new one. Even the baskets of the Bosch, the LG and the GE are not appropriate for my stuff. I do not wash only three wine glasses at the time! I want to wash 4 of them at the same time! Same thing for my Italian large dining plates. I do not care about the noise, I just want to fit every plate in one wash only!😢

I told him the guy selling it said I don’t have to worry about thoroughly cleaning it…cause it chews the food. Interestingly the technician said not to listen to them they don’t know their stuff. They are just there to sell. And that it’s not good for the pipes, and it’s not true. Very tiny particles is ok. But he said never to put anything in there with junk stuck on. Even if you buy the most simplest model. They all work the same. He was right, because my first one caused us a big bill with that junk got stuck in the pipes. I already had planned on not doing that to my second one. But when he told me about this, I was happy that I was already going to start doing it right.

I just got a Bosch 100 series for $500 a few months ago. It is sooooo quite. Had to get used to the no heat drying(Jet Dri is a must), but other than that it does a good job. Has lots of options for dish placements too. I just can't get over how good it is compared to my previous dishwasher. To be fair, I only spent $150 (clearance) for the previous one and it lasted around 7-10 years. It was loud and did a so so job of cleaning.
