I'm of Jamaican heritage - both parents being Jamaican born. I feel non-Jamaicans take Bob Marley more seriously than us. Music wise, if you go to a 'real' Jamaican party to listen to any genre of Jamaican music -Ska, Rock Steady, Reggae, Roots Reggae, Dub......you will be lucky if you hear one single Bob Marley track.
