I've been demo'ing this plugin for the past 2 weeks, i'm a bit unsure about it but maybe i'm using it wrong. I love the crunchy punch it can give you with the gold knob, but what you gain in crunchy punch you lose in clearness and openness. I really wanted to love it but the HF rolloff is quite severe. Apparently the dev is working on adding an option to turn off the HF rolloff though which is cool It's also a massive CPU hog on my system
Flatline is a simple soft/hard clipper, so they are not really comparable. Gold Clip is more of an analog emulation/mastering processor (it does parallel compression and some more stuff aside from soft/hard clipping), so I guess it's more comparable with the likes of Slate FG-X, DMG Limitless and Newfangled Audio Elevate. Flatline is comparable to SIR Audio Standard Clip, Venn Audio V-Clip etc.
Thanks for the review. Nice features but I think I'm gonna stick with my other clipping options, as they do the trick just fine (along with my Burl B2 Bomber)
Nice ! Thanks, Mike. The stereo width and lushness of the backing vocals in the chorus are so nice. Feel very drawn in by the space of this track. Also, would love a quick boot camp tip on phasing caused by filters, I never realised a high-pass could cause the ripples you spoke of. Fascinating. Cheers
The gold process is sample based gain with soft knee, net effect: upwards compression. As on the hardware, designed to not *need* to clip. Also, if it's anti-aliasing properly there shouldn't be any "digital edge" to warrant a HF roll-off.
Owen Wilson teaches mixing. This is my new favorite video on this plugin.
Maybe the best clipper on the market now

acustica ash is way better
read the manual
@@geometrae4773 I prefer this to ash.
Interested to see this compared against submission audio's Flatline, supposedly they were designed with identical intents.

hard to hear the distortion from GC as the BGVs are already sharp and very sibilant...other than that great video explaining how this plugin works
Even for the Box tone it will be good idea, that you mentiond before making automation on the sections of the song. 16:37
Is there a Waves Plug-in equivalent to this?
My channels stop playing when I enter the plugin

So is this used instead of a limiter when mastering or combined?
I always put a TP limiter just after just incase but in my exp it seems to handle the intersamples too
Gold Clip Vs ASH come on I need an answer lol
same
this maybe a dumb question
But is this a mastering plugin or a supped up Soft Clipper that can be used within a mastering chain 🧐
It's a mastering grade limiter
@@mixingwithmike copy understood
@@mixingwithmikeHow does this compare to the Weiss DS1 Mark 3 limiter?
What's your take on the crispy clip
is great...but when a plugin is very expensive then people think is way better...when is not always the casee
Highly visual impressions, lacks strong sonic impression. I probably need ear training or to hear the delta.
Cant use it if you dont have a actual ilok dongle?
as long as you have a iLok account you can use it.
