@@subphotic The very main reason why engineers end up going for gold clip is that its oversampling doesn't create overshoots, you can try other very good clippers that simply generate overshoots even with 128x and 256x oversampling. It is the case to a point engineers often end up considering using 1x aka no oversampling (when the genre allows it to), as it is the only case in which no overshoots would be created. Schwabe Digital is one of the only digital clippers (arguably the only one) that won't create such overshoots while using high oversampling rates, making it ideal as a mastering clipper.
Hey thanks for asking. Unfortunately, I haven’t tried that one. By the looks of it, Ash got more options in terms of different processor types, whilst the gold clip has the filters and the compressor. Bit that’s just in terms of features. One would grab a trial of both plugins and do a comparison.
Hey, that’s a really good question. I have both. They are different beasts, with different applications. I got a video in the works about this topic and done some experimenting back and forth, and so far I’ve found that I think you can come quite close to orange with the gold, but there are some nuances that’s hard to get similar, stuff that the fruity clipper is famous for. So it depends on needs I guess. Thanks for chiming in🙌
To buy both, or either, would be personal opinion based on what you hear. I did buy both, starting with Gold Clip then Orange. I'll use Gold Clip on my 2 bus, as it can be very clean in my opinion, but can get intentionally dirty if you want it. Orange will always be more dirty/gritty again my opinion. I use orange on individual bus channels for the gritty clipping. In this usage, Orange Clip is both clipping and sound modifying.
Great demo on Gold Clip. At first I didn't think there's enough in a clipper to justify the price, until I used it a few times with the trial period. I bought it. It's difficult to really describe why it's great, but it is. I found Gold Clip easy enough to set. I like your suggestions for updates to Gold Clip, it would extend the usefulness. Fair warning, if you do the trial you'll probably buy it.
Yeah, ditto, and thanks🙏😀 I received a 6 month trial to make a review, and after that I’m not sure I can withstand not buying it. It’s on 90% of my mixbusses and masterering sessions… It’s a powerhouse
Hahaha, you don’t know the half of it😆 It doubles as a vocal recording mic for rappers, so I don’t have the patience to detach/ retach. But I totally get it haha
Got this one a few weeks ago. Very little info out on this product that I could find. Very intuitive 🏆 Good stuff.
Yeah, it’s quite new. I found it easy to use once I grasped the concept of the «gold» function, really useful. Cheers!
Haven't heard of Schwabe Digital Gold Clip. Exciting 👍
It’s 🌟
I really want to test this out against newfangled saturate
That makes a lot of sense, they are quite close when it comes to features
@@subphoticquite close with features. Except the one feature. The price 😂
@@ELLIOT8209 Yeah. Then it remains to see whether or not the differences in audio quality and ease of use etc would justify the extra $

thank you for the reply, from watching your video goldclip indeed sounds amazing! I'll definitely trial them both, keep up the great content

Excellent plugin.
Indeed. It’s been living on my bus ever since I got it

You're stacking pop filters, while not even talking directly into your mic?
That's some serious plosives aversion.
😆
