    • @Krillori
      @Krillori 2 ปีที่แล้ว +117

      you can see it’s actually a method, after being able to see the others but unable to make them out, your brain thinks you should be able to see them so starts to pay more attention, but only once it’s far enough to see the queen of spades. Also, the queen of spades is shown for slightly longer than the others, so it’s mostly a small trick and it’s very interesting how the brain works.

    Houdini didn’t die during a stunt, he died of appendicitis. He let a student hit him in the stomach on a campus visit to let them see he could take the punch, but he wasn’t ready and didn’t brace himself before the student already punched. His appendix ruptured and he didn’t went to get medical attention for it. He died a few days later. It’s an urban legend he died during the watertank trick, but it sounds more heroic and legendary than what actually happened.

    i didn't know much about david blaine but i'd heard about his endurance stunts and i'd always presumed they were illusions because he's an illusionist/magician. it's crazy that he actually just did these things with no tricks, just training.

      It is all tricks, no magic behind him at all. I know because I was a magician myself and know how most of his tricks were made, unfortunately are the most of what hi has done, unusable for most other magicians because it is simply more a scam than performance.

    • @ex0duzz
      @ex0duzz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lol. Noshit they are all tricks and not magic, because there's no such thing in the world as real "magic".
      If you want to call them scams, then go ahead. But that's what all magic basically is. Tricks or scams, based on special tampered with items, illusions, sleight of hand, misdirection, etc. that is magic in a nutshell.
      However I would not call them scams. Scam is when the trick doesn't work unless there is some audience member who's part of the act but instead is pretending to be some random audience member when they aren't.

    • @ex0duzz
      @ex0duzz ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Which stunts are you talking about? Because most, if not all of his stunts like the ones shown in this video are actually him doing them for real, and not illusions like you claim.
      If you disagree, please be specific and name a few tricks that were "illusions" and not life threatening "stunts"..

      In my opinion love magic tricks, had he is a good magician. But this stunts are so lame. Standing in an ice cube, "oh how long can the body work". Yeah, that is a tough, but boring to watch. But how is this so impressive becasue david blain did it. what about people surviving in cold water or snow longer. What is 44 days without food against the 378 days record.
      And he only got the world record without air becasue he was breathing pure oxygen for hours shortly before the record. That was against the rules it opened a new variation for worldrecords standing now with 24:37.
      I understand this all under the mind of a sport and competions, but as a show consept its pretty stupid.

      -pole performance: one guy did stand for 76 hours on one leg, another stood 37 hours motionless, Blain did 35 hours just standing, but not without brakes

    Worth noting that the world record (which I believe has been broken since) was specifically for holding your breath after breathing pure oxygen for a while. The world record from breathing air is much shorter and that's what he originally planned to break. But someone set that record past what he thought he could achieve, so he switched to the pure oxygen record instead.

    This is a great video. Thanks so much for putting this together, I am really enjoying it. One note, though. I’m not sure if Harry’s death occurred due to a performance, as you said I. 5:00. I’m pretty sure a medical student struck his appendix while he was sleeping and it caused a rupture, bringing him to his death. Anyways, great video!

    • @nathanaelsenn225
      @nathanaelsenn225 2 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      Sort of. Harry claimed to be able to ‘take a punch from any man’, but he was hit by a medical student in his appendix when he wasn’t prepared. This lead to his death, and arguably, could be considered ‘a stunt’, but I do agree with your comment mostly.

      That might not be it either. Some say Houdini refused to seek medical attention for what turned out to be an infected appendix and had been very ill for weeks. *Watch his HOT ONES episode*
    His control over his body and nervous system is so insane that he eats the worlds hottest chili pepper whole and doesn't get a single tear in his eye, or a runny nose, he doesn't even cough once. It's unreal.

    I’ll never forget when they took him out of the ice block live on tv….he made a terrifying whimper and the camera cut away real quick. I think he said something about loosing his mind before the whimper. If you know you just know…..it was a millisecond moment in time

    Dude Chris Angel did one of his "escapes" from a collapsing hotel in Clearwater Beach years ago. My friends and I went to watch it, and when Chris Angel came out to greet the crowd we got everyone to start chanting DAVID BLAINE over and over and Chris walked away after only a few seconds

      @@bobmarley6306 He also lets go of the rest of the cards, so the last card you see (as the first and last are the most memorable) was the queen of spades, despite it being in the middle of the deck
