Lovely coins and your “treasure chest” is really filling up. I have some hammered silver pennies in a collection of different monarchs. It amazes me how primitive the portraits are compared to Roman coins that are a 1000 years older.
Great coins, so much history to hold in the hand and to own ! Can I recommend London's Charing Cross Collectors' Market? It is every Saturday from 7am to 2pm, just opposite Embankment Tube station. Lots of coins like these (and more!) for sale at good (and negotiable) prices. You can examine coins in person, unlike eBay. The last Saturday of this month (29th June) should be the best time to visit. Why not try it? 👍
Coincidently, went to my local coin shop today, I came away with 2 x .925 Stirling silver QE2 commemorative proof crowns at £19 each. A 50% George V1 shilling at £5. A .925 1896 half crown at £10 A 1951 cupro George V1 George and Dragon crown only £4. I know anything after 1946 has no intrinsic value, but it's all part of the journey. I have commemoratives medallions of the monarchs, they google as being silver, however on some im not so sure 😊
Lovely coins! I recently got some Edward I pennies ranging from around 1280 up to about 1305, for about $50-$60 each. Been wanting one for many years. Question also, where did you get those neat red trays for your collectible ones?
You can't go far wrong at all on sterling threeps at a pound each. In Oz they would be $3-5 each in TF (totally fucked) condition!!. Anything close to scrap value is ace!! Cheers from Oz!!
If your collecting coins for the silver content . I would stay away from any coin less than 90% pure. As below that percentage, it is more expensive to refine the silver out. And therefore you will get a really poor scrap price for them.
I'm an American who loves English coins as much as you do! Feel the history!
Historical coins are amazing 🤩
Every antique shop I go into want way over spot or sell well worn coins as a collectable - well done!
Thanks 🙏
It really is pot luck with shops often

I only have 1/4¼ in predecimal money, so a collection of that magnitude is astonishing!
Thank you very much 👍
The winners are the Edward II farthing & the Charles II shilling. As you say, the history those coins have seen and they've survived!

Very nice 14th Century Farthing! My oldest is about 1634, a Rose Farthing made of copper and VERY tiny

I do collect other types of silver
And plan to not scrap these coins if possible for the reasons you say
Some of your calculation of wages for the common working man are a bit generous.
That’s what I pay for three pences £1 each 🧲👍⚓️
