How do you hold your smartphone? Which position do you feel is the best?
Currently dealing with shoulder problems so use large puffy lap pillow
@@sandradow1783 Pillow on lap it is!
@Cacao Scotti If you have a noticeable shift/curve, you definitely need some professional advice/help...start with some standing x-rays...best wishes.
The ways I mostly do it:
Lying down on my yoga mat, and holding it above me. Lying on my side on my yoga mat, and having it eye-level that way. Putting my elbows on my table to have it eye-level. When I'm out, I usually rest my elbows on my stomach. Putting one hand under the tricep to hold up the one arm.

Def the second one thank you so much
Commenting cause this was harder to find than it should've been. Thank you!
Awesome, thank you!
I can't be trusted to not drop my phone on my face 😂❤
😂 Well there is that to watch out for too!
#ollar Tree has rings you can adhere to the back of the phone. This way ots attacjed to one of your fingers. ;-)
I had that happen a few times when I fell asleep while holding it.
😂 I thought I was the only one.

I have been trying to fix my neck hump and the exercises help me so much for my neck and back pain (I haven't even looked at the hump anymore haha). It has helped me notice and adjust bad posture throughout the day too, obviously the phone causes a lot of it. This video came at the right time, I was wondering what alternatives there were other than just holding the arms up (which is so tiring). Thank you!
My pleasure and happy you are doing well! :)

Developed a carpal-like nerve irritation radiating from the shoulder to elbow and wrist from lying on my back watching videos holding my phone.
This nerve impingement irritation started during lockdowns and has been constant whenever I use my phone lying in bed.
Ortho did an MRI and I learned it’s from neck disc degeneration so I’ll be utilizing these positions.
I hope you feel better soon.
Today i discovered its called text neck and 2 postures that really seem to help. Thankss
👍
Last one is the besssttt one
Thanks!
Some great ideas the doctor I actually liked the one putting you hand underneath your arm I actually can do that sitting down and it’s much better thanks very much for the tips I’ve even made my old one off and down it’s easy to put one hand under my hand and hold my mobile phone feel a lot more comfortable thanks
Glad you found it helpful...best wishes.
I watch my TH-cam lying down but I have dropped my iPhone a few times. I am afraid I may break my nose if I am not careful. Excellent advices!
Just subscribed!😊
Thank you Jenny! :)
Your comment gave me a good chuckle. I’ve definitely done that 😂
I like the laying on the back position. I have a holder for my phone that I bought specifically to avoid text neck but for some reason I haven't used it. I guess it is more for viewing a video only.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you for these valuable information, but what about the patient with ACDF surgery, which position is the best?
Please ask your doctor.
😅well thanks ❤for your tips i got numb neck while using phone and continuous studying
The doc said blood not flowing properly in the brain because of bad posture
Glad you found my video helpful.
Awesome. Any videos about how to properly sit properly etc while working on a computer/pc? Everytime I try to do exercises so my neck shoulders dont lean forward, I always feel like Im washing any results away when sitting at the computer, and then leaning forward, etc while working? Any videos you made about how to sit etc ? lol
Sure do! th-cam.com/video/u40IfUBDumI/w-d-xo.html
You have saved me!!!
Wonderful!
I liked the last posture , the one with the wall. Thanks a lot.
The fifth one can be with the table if we are sitting on chair.
May Allah bless you.
Thanks for sharing!!
Lol. That first shot is exactly how I'm watching this video. 🤣🤣🤣
🤣
Not me watching this in the thumbnail position
:)
Saw it today. 13 just...I ve neck wrinkles from bending my head. Thanks for sharing 👍 tips.
You’re welcome 😊
Last was best
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks what about using a foam roller to lean on with your back and then using a telephone selfie stand if you can get your hands on one I’ve got one and I use it a lot but I want to come by an exercise that is healthy for my back and that I can also look at my phone at the same time and watch videos about Pilates et cetera
Yes that sounds good!👍
At 1:00 when you said “Pro-tech the neck.” Well played sir
:)
you saved my life.
:)
is there a vid how to sit at a computer? I would like to see this from your perspective, thank you
Yes! :) th-cam.com/video/u40IfUBDumI/w-d-xo.html
Wow 😂ty 👍
My pleasure!
You should do shoulder positions next
Good idea!
Im getting chronic, daily headaches caused by severe, stubborn neck tension. Going to reallt utilise tbese and see if it helps! I'm assuming these positions are also good for reading books? Though may be slightly uncomfortable for book reading
Best wishes!
Thanks again Doc
My pleasure Fabian!
Last one 👍
Yes good one!
2:08 , 3:02 are the best
They are good!
Great video man
But I have a question, how we have to sit to use the phone or otherwise sit in the bus in general
Hands up, bag on lap, elbows on lap...make sense?
Yes and another question
I play the guitar and when I play, the shoulders close due to the weight of the guitar. Does it hurt or does nothing?
@drjonsaunders Can you please make a video to help with Cybersickness? I work in front of 2 monitors, 8-9 hours a day. The up and down and side to side scrolling, makes me dizzy and I feel sick by the end of the day. I try to take breaks here and there, I've changed the background light to dark mode (same on my phone) and bought glasses to block blue light but I don't feel any difference. Thank you so much!
Good topic recommendation!
@@drjonsaunders thank you! 🙏
The last one
Yes, I like that one too!
3:05 should our head be touching the wall? That makes me feel like I'm stretching my neck though I have bad posture normally so maybe that's expected. Thanks :)
Try all positions and find which ones work best for you. Take care.
Hi doc..can l I ask something can possible poor posture using smartphone bowing all the time can causes difficulty breathing in my chest?I can feel like that bcoz if I'm using smartphone I'm always bowing to use it all day long so I feel my chest is heavy and I can't breath..thanks for answering my question 😊
Thanks for watching!
I noticed my friend Chris doing 1 and 2, and I’m right haha, it was for that exact purpose, good I found your video. chrisnnchris
Thanks for watching!
I had neck surgery last month so #4 is out. Plus, I doubt many older folks can lie flat like that because of degenerative thoracic spine. I have to lie flat on a pillow with a phone/ipad clamp over the headboard.
Definitely have to find one that works for you individually. Best wishes
With the lay down positions, does not it affect to your eyes negatively?
It shouldn't. All the best!
I think 6th one is best because we can rest our back against wall . It's hard for me to sit straight for a long time without support .
Thanks for watching.
Still too close to the eyes in most positions.
The position by the wall is perfect, couldn't figure it by myself
Thanks for watching.
What about lying on one’s side with a relevant pillow supporting neck and head?
That could work as well!
My neck thanks you
Welcome!
Using phone lying on my stomach will help me reverse engeeneer kyphosis posture ? The way u showed hurts My elbows. Can I just look down on the bed?
That could work!
Number three makes my hands numb is there something wrong with me
Not necessarily, but best to talk to your doctor.
The last one would be amusing if your out in public😆😆 Think the 2nd last night work
:) Thanks for watching!
Too late......
Got and exercises that can save me?
Neck, shoulder, back and shoulder blade.
In severe cases the pain goes to the base of my scull.
Sure do...th-cam.com/video/1akLkrEDusY/w-d-xo.html AND th-cam.com/video/32BU7-BCd_U/w-d-xo.html AND th-cam.com/video/AsCfZ3xwa58/w-d-xo.html Best wishes.
I hate that I've gotten to this point 😂 also hate that boobs are just in the way for the first 2 methods 😭 feel like I'm creating a distraction lmao
Thanks for watching!
video start 1:20
Thanks!
Laying down either way it really hurts my triceps and T4. For standing can you show how a person with breasts would be able to modify?

I need a " butler " to hold my smartphone 😅
:)
BEWARE #4, as it can easily lead to the facial injuries one might expect from holding a distracting half-pound brick above one's face balanced awkwardly on moving thumbs
This. Got to pay attention. :)
Pillow in lap
Yes!
Someday when the phone becomes glass that would improve posture
Yes!
There’s an invention here
Get to it! ;)
What are watching in the corner 😅
Hmm.:)
By the way can we use cervical pillow
I used to do 1,2 and 6. Now my shoulders rotate to the front and that cause me problems too 🫠
Yes, there is always something to work on!
Its all cool until I realize I have weak arms 🤌 been trying to fix my shrimp gamer posture because back pain everyday 😩
Just keep working at it. :)
