We make a lot of money, but if you see us in town, you'd never know it. My parents started the business in the early 1980s, and then we bought them out. @@patrickstogsdill74 when I was 31 I worked in a machine shop making $15 an hour. I felt like a loser too. Then I really started to think how to get a better job with my skills and experience. Figured out that I had enough experience in welding to become a certified welding inspector. Worked hard to get that cert, plus a few more inspection certifications. Now 5 years later I make $56 an hour as an inspector and I'm in a union so I get benefits and a pension. You can do some research, talk to people. Weigh out your options. You could join a union, or get a government job. Like water treatment plant. Waste management, department of water and power. Lots of good jobs out there that most people don't even think about.
I remember being a child and there was this homeless looking guy who would bike around town on a bike that was probably his age and went to supermarkets to eat for free. He was a multimillionaire. We found out when we went selling stuff for our sports team and he just bought everything we had because it went to a good cause. Every adult knew, but us children built quite some lore around this guy.

@@ohhenry3845sounds like he chose the life he enjoyed. If he wanted to live fancy he would have and could have. The problem is you’ve romanticized what it is to have money - and the sort of joy it brings. People who buy expensive things they don’t need are buying those things to try and distract themselves while they run from something. If you aren’t happy poor, you won’t be happy rich. You’ll realize that when you get older.
If someone looks homeless when they have the means to look clean and presentable, there's a mental illness in play - the same thing that makes people hoard.
Very true. I worked, as a bank teller, through my 20’s. A man, who could pass as “homeless” was one of the wealthiest customers, we had. Those sporting designer clothes, and cars, we’re usually in the red with enough loans to line a football field. Bank workers know better.
I used to have a lot of money in the bank and I do sometimes dress like a bum lol, the tellers would have their eyes wide open, now most of my money is tied up in investments.
@@MarkDanger777 about every quarter, this guy would bring a stack of interest checks in, to cash, from all different financial institutions. And, they were 3-4 figure interest cks. There is no better feeling than to be debt free. We have been debt free since 2011. Nothing is worth spending money on if you can't pay for it in cash. Some people just don't realize the freedom it brings.
Some of my friend said to me: "you dont have a credit card? Why?? It is so useful!" I don't meed credit, I'm also debit free, no load, no rent. I have a small economic house, i bought an used honda civic and i spend only for what i have in the pocket. Also i always keep an amount of money for emergency. Is not simple and not everyone can do it but to get this status i had to sacrifice many vacation and extra i the past but now i feel free.
You should have a credit card. You should have a loan (at somepoint). You should have things that build your credit. There's a difference between having credit/credit history versus being in debt. We use credit cards to keep our history and credit Score strong, we pay absolutely everything off every month.
Not true in business. Saving cash to buy a house will make you part looser portion of population today. Inflation. Now that might be a good principle for personal enjoyment things.
Huh ? I don't understand how you get a good credit score when u have credit card debts even if these are monthly paid off ??? In my country this is completely opposite. If one has a credit card, the card limit ( whether this limit is used or not) is seen as a debt which will negatively impact one's credit.
@Namronnnn4 I would never be jealous. Someone could have a Rolls Royce and I could have my old Dodge. Guess what? They both do the same thing: get you from point A to point B. I’d rather not have the car payment
Thank you for this. I studied proverbs last year and need to do it again. Did a Proverbs a day and studied not just read. It's a deep book and the best 👌
Most people who are flashy just have a lot of debt. Guys who built their wealth not through inheritance rather through hard work are usually never flashy. Because they know how hard it was and that struggle builds up a lot of humility.

When I stopped caring about what others think is when I was able to come out of debt and have a positive net worth. I used to bounce around debt in order to have stuff I thought I needed but in reality it was keeping me poor.
I can attest to this with so many friends and acquaintances. They were the brightest ppl who drove the least expensive car but loved traveling. They never flashed their wealth either. They told me that they respected me because I never cared about how they looked outside and was genuinely kind to them.
I couldn’t agree more! My husband used to be a doorman at a swanky hotel. He said the one way he could tell who had money wasn’t from the fancy cars, Rolex watches, name brand clothing, etc., it was by looking at their shoes. They were clean, well polished, frugal.

Correct me if I'm wrong but Jeff Bezos $300 million yacht is definitely an indicator of wealth... anything that can't be easily obtained on an average salary is a show of wealth. Someone with a $10 million home is wealthy. This applies at a middle class level, but after a certain point it doesn't
Wealth is more a mindset than anything else. Being secure in who you are is the first step. You don’t need to show anyone your wealth. You know who you are.

I'm 47 years old single, live alone and although I was married for 13 years, I do not have any children. 5 years ago I was blessed to buy an old house in the hood for literally just the taxes that was owed on it. Less than 10k. I have 2 vehicles that are over 10 years old, but I'm the only person who drives them and I take extremely good care of them, they are far from flashy but they get me anywhere I need to go. So... No rent, mortgage, car note, child support, or anything else I can't afford. I have everything I need tho. I hope to be a millionaire by the time I retire which hopefully I will be able to do in less than 10 years. Friends, family, coworkers, and even my neighbors ask me idiotic questions all the time, like why dont you get a newer vehicle? Why do you live in this neighborhood? Why are you not married, don't you want kids? These are the same people who are deep in debt, divorced, have children who don't even respect them, drive vehicles they can't afford etc. I love my life, I love going to bed and waking up knowing I don't anyone a damn thing, not even an explanation lol.
Success usually comes dressed in overalls and looks like work. One millionaire I know is a farmer and no joke, he wears overalls every day. He definitely doesn’t look like he has money.
I once passed an old man in a beat up dusty old dodge mini van, he had a faded Grassley works campaign sticker on the back bumper.. .The guy driving was US senator Charles Grassley.
I've known and know plenty of extremely wealthy people. Almost to a fault they live in very expensive homes (usually one of several they own) that are looked after by staff, drive very expensive cars, one has a nanny who drives a Bentley because it's a safe vehicle to transport their children in for example. Quite a few own private jets, or a netjets share. They don't think about flaunting their wealth, it's just the way they live their lives. I'm sure he's correct in saying that many people try to emulate that lifestyle, but some just live it without a second thought.
The actually rich people I know don’t drive expensive cars, dress modestly and sometimes look like homeless slobs . They don’t flash their money in anyway , in fact they try to make it look like they are broke .
If people know they have money suddenly every family and friend will have horrible money problems they need help with. Never tell anyone your financial situation.

Yours is a completely different case. Enjoying your wealth/riches is not bad in itself if you do you and not living trying to impress others. He is referring to persons who foolishly go into debt trying to impress people who don't matter.
Just say S500. Its just the old sport paclage renamed sadly. Real AMG is a whole other relm. Fyi: All those benzes that say AMG 35, 43, 45, 53 are all just a amg sport pacakge, not legit real AMG's, there are a few AMG 55/63 models built in the southern u s and those are technically not legit becauae they werent built in Affalterbach, Germany, home of REAL AMG and if theres no hand signed plaque engine cover by the AMG tech, its also a hint its fake.. It amazes me how many goons THINK they have a real AMG 😂🤣. We have had many since the earky 90's and know the difference as a enthusiast and purest. Also some real M cars too. @08turboSS “paying cash” simply means not borrowing money. This could mean physical cash, using a debit card or paying with a cashier’s check. Probably paid with the latter because once you obtain a cashier’s check, the money is verified and tied up in that check

Just spent a weekend with some friends. Wow, I was shocked to see they are up to their eyeballs in debt. I thought they were set up well. My parents looked like they were homeless, not the wealthy people that they became. The same holds true for my wealthy friends....holes in their shoes! That is how wealth is built, by being very thrifty & living beneath your means.
YEP - First rule of luxury sales….know how to read people from a distance. Those who are your target buyers are NOT those walking around with all the flash (logo clothing, huge logo purse, giant jewelry, over the top cars, etc). True wealth with deep pockets, is subtle and most of the time very understated. They favor clean lines, solid basics worn in a very tailored but low key way. Hand made shoes, fine not flashy jewelry. They are quiet, not loud and showy. Quaffed yet tousled. They have good skin, great teeth are rarely if ever impaired in public and usually very polite, soft spoken but generally not patient and don’t tolerate inattentiveness nor the uninformed.

My neighbour is like this. We accidentally saw a retail store debt bill of theirs, oh my. Yet the new cars keep on coming. I love that we still have the same 12 year old car and in that time they must have had 6 news cars. Smugness is a great feeling 😂
Yep. Years ago, we sold the home we raised our family in. We had scrimped and saved, so that we could make double principal payments on our house. We shared a car, shopped sales, etc. Our neighbors sold their home at the same time. They had owned their home much longer than we had. Their children all got new cars at 16, all wore designer clothes, all went to expensive schools. We made a lot of money on our sale (which we shared with our children, since they had all helped build sweat equity). Our fancy neighbors had "harvested" their equity and had to do a short sale.

True. A millionaire visited the wearhouse I work in and besides having a jeep worth around 150K or so I couldn't guessed the guy had money. He wore regular jeans and a shirt and he talked and acted like anyone or maybe even closely to one of the wearhouse workers. My point is the ones that actually have much money don't need to show them off. I think If you identify yourself with money then you will show off your money like the amount of money you have is the amount you are worth in society. But if you only see money as a means to live then showing off is not of your concern. Also I think showing off depends somewhat on how you got rich.
It's so true 👍 💯 People show off so many things they haven't even paid for yet, they have it on credit, and swimming in debt. They are typically stressed out, depressed, and have sleepless nights wondering how they will pay for everything and have an underlying fear they will loose everything 🤦🏽♀️
My friends and mentors will seven figure net worths (from $2 million to $9 million) don’t look any different from the average American. Except when they pay cash for a new car 😊. They intentionally look poor, and aggressively buy income producing investments/assets.
I learned one thing from being in the "exotic car" business in my 20s. Most people who drive one are about one paycheck away from having to live in it.
When you see an already expensive car off the factory line, but the person put very expensive rims on it for no reason, he's very broke. It's a compensation maneuver.
I agree wholeheartedly. The millionaires I have business dealings. are old school, humble and polite. Cell phones are filled with business contacts and family. Nothing else. It’s true. I work in the lending industry and people who make $30k+ a month or more are always taking out a 2nd mortgage to consolidate debt. My BIL is a franchise owner, and while he brings in quite a bit of money each month, he dresses posh, has a snobby attitude, upgrades his vehicles every couple years, goes on 4+ vacations a year…etc, he’s also at least $2 million in debt.
Yeah I learned that from my parents. Both self made and we’re pulling in 200k plus together by the time I was 10. Never been abroad. Most expensive vacation was a cruise to the Bahamas. I would always be mad we didn’t have super fancy stuff. That’s until I took financial literacy courses. The reason we never had fancy stuff was because we really didn’t have the money for it. 401k, college funds for 3 kids, 20 year mortgage. Theyre split now but they’ll retire each with around $2 million and 2 houses not in debt.
Better than most but we have kids in their 20s making that entire lifetime savings in a year and some even in a month... I don't want to seem like a hater but that is a comfortable living, not a posh lifestyle

Very true. I worked, as a bank teller, through my 20’s. A man, who could pass as “homeless” was one of the wealthiest customers, we had. Those sporting designer clothes, and cars, we’re usually in the red with enough loans to line a football field. Bank workers know better.

Amen to that. I just became debt free last year 🎉🎉🎉
Not true in business.

That’s until I took financial literacy courses. The reason we never had fancy stuff was because we really didn’t have the money for it. 401k, college funds for 3 kids, 20 year mortgage.
Theyre split now but they’ll retire each with around $2 million and 2 houses not in debt.
That means you will get the money. They can’t take it with them. Never really understood gaining millions unless you want to give it away.

My Father, may he rest in peace, once told us: “ A True Businessman, does not show his pockets.”
