    I showed this video to Mrs. Wyoming who had not yet seen the tape after all this time. She was in tears so glad to finally have it! Now her entire family including grandkids and friends can see how great of a competitor and what a beautiful job she did! Thank you.

      I love feedback like this :) Much better than people leaving negative comments.

      PageantsHayDay no problem I was wondering if you had anymore of the talent portion for this pageant. I think she had a singing part but it may have been left out.

    I love looking at the pageants from the 1960s. Look those hairstyles! LET me add, I love brunettes and it's so nice to see so many raven-haired beauties that year.

    Debra Barnes was really good. To say she played Born Free is an understatement.

      Its amazing that just *ONE YEAR* after this pageant, NASA landed men on the moon *•six times•* in less than 4 years! HOWEVER, half of a century later NASA has no idea how to land a man on the Moon....not even with technology hundreds of times more advanced than they had in the 1969🤔

    Miss Kansas's answer to the question was the best. She is so right. You can't spend an entire year pretending to be someone you're not. Those are my words, but I believe that's exactly what she meant.

    • @Parker528
      @Parker528 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree! That type of question is open to so many possible approaches to what the answer is and how its answered. (I mean, I could literally imagine any random contestant saying something like "make the most of it, because if you win, you're only getting that experience as a current MA once", but, if you were to apply that to Debra's answer, no one can make the most of anything as a current Miss America during her year, if she's not her authentic self and/or pretending to be someone you are not).

    Miss Kansas was cute and Miss Mississippi beautiful. Same order as 1966 Debbie Bryant of Kansas adorable modern winner and Miss Mississippi first runner up stunning

    This is one year I think the judges got it right, with the top 3 in the order I would have selected. Miss Florida's baton twirling is probably the best baton twirling performance I have ever seen.

    I love seeing the pageant full telecast from the '50s '60s 70's 80's that I have seen on tv until I saw the 1992 pageant in 1991 on NBC

    Wisconsin or Rhode Island would have been my choices. The stage crew said Wisconsin was the finest voice they ever heard in Convention Hall and she does have a great voice!

    At 50:21 is the intro to Linda (Jennie) Formanek, Miss Iowa, part of my family. Sadly, she will forever be 25 as she was killed in an auto accident in March of 1969.

      Am not sure if they had been having electronic (technical) issues that Bert mentioned in the top 5 Q&A time period, Frank Deford mentioned the incident in his book "There She Is" that I checked out of a library here and read a number of times......might want to see if it's available on Ebay, an excellent book......I had the chance to meet Debbie at the 75th anniversary in 1995 at the Miss America luncheon and got her autograph, and I asked her if she ever got it sung to her since Bert's microphone went dead, and she mentioned that it wound up taking place when she appeared on "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson......

    What an unbelievable amount of talent in 1968. Certain years were just incredible. Hard to believe the wokeness created a cup stacker winner. Go back to your roots Miss America.
