When you mentioned using a piece of c4 to cook food I thought of a story my grandpa told me a few years ago. He served with the 11th ACR as an M113 driver in 68-69. He said a couple guys from his unti were using a piece of C4 to cook and they used to big of a piece and they completely leveled the M113 they were in. Unfortunately the men lost their lives. Just figured I'd share an interesting story
Never heard that story, burning C4 gives off poison gas and it was frowned upon to use it that way. More than likely these guys hit a mine, piece of C4 would not destroy a M113. A whole claymore mine set off inside may wreck interior. Plenty of guys killed themselves in stupid accidents. Allons Blackhorse
Thank you bro I’ve been wanting something like this because I’m getting a bunch of stuff for Christmas and I’m collecting a lot of stuff and you are showing it on the right track
Cool setup, I would lose the brush, unless its for your own use, State side there would be a concern for keeping the boots shine or clothes clean, in the boonies it wasn't a concern. i would also lose the tape, not sure what that was for, field repairs were done with military sewing kits. Don't see any trips flares, signal flares that would be carried, not sure about the LRRRP meals, regular troops carried and were issued c-rat meals. They used boot socks tied to their rucks to carry them. If you want a good lists of items carried late was use this website www.webewebbiers.com/vietnam/ednoredstorypg8.htm, he was a vet, who was there late war. Of course it depends on unit, you are reenacting!
I’m curious on the sunscreen. I’ve heard that type wasn’t used in Vietnam or was post war. Also do you have the original baby food looking bleach/piss smelling stuff in there or do you use modern stuff. If so what do you use? Also I wouldn’t think guys would have a brush with them in bush other than maybe a hair brush. Also I havnt heard or seen electrical tape much in original photos or any reenactor pages. Where do you get the lrrp rations or are they original. Are the c rats original aswell? Where is the demolition charge from?
those are a mix of original and repro c rats th-cam.com/video/_TpVBVvBouE/w-d-xo.html he bought original lorry packets that were opened but he just stuffs ares in them and puts tape on the edge (inside) to make them looked sealed,
purchase some size long suspenders once you get them lower your belt until you can use ur webset properly another thing you can do is get some 550 cord and attach it to the hooks/loops and then tie it to ur belt which is what im doing until I get some size long suspenders, hope this helps and have a great day!
@@claymorelessbag3042 I do USMC 67 and a lot of the photos Ive seen have the suspenders (1941s) either missing entirely or very loose, with the belt resting on or slightly above their hips.

Are you larping a LRRP or a line grunt? Because no recon guy would take the dinner bell mess kit down range.

Could you have a Seagrams bag in 67-68? I do a US Seabee impression at Chu Lai and think this would be a nice addition.
