    My dad was a grunt in the Corps in 68/69, he said they put c rat cans in their 2nd pair of socks and tied em to the outside of the pack. That way it carried food, washed socks.

    Radioactive watches have not been made for decades if you find one it is probably safe now. It was the workers who made the watch were the ones at risk.

    Okay, it's a clear straight to the point description of what you have in your butt pack, but for me, it doesn't make sense, because you didn't explain the context that you are going to use the Load out for. Is it for 12 hours, 24 hours? Is it the only pack you are allowed to carry? Because looking at your items you packed I can't imagine a scenario or context that these items are justified to be packed in a butt back beyond that it looks cool, and it fills the pack! So, the main point is you need to understand why are those items are the right items to the goal, then you pack.

    i got mine and i have made some modifications i sandpapered the insert so it is less shiny right now i couldnt paint the bottom so i just used a sharpie which works fine but can look bad at some angles so i will have to paint it later and i might try to put in a 3 barrel hinge to make it more accurate Edit: after work today I went to Michael's and got black matte paint and painted the bottom so that's done

    I am trying to get into reinacment, I'm intressted in MAC V SOG so i would be impersinating a MAC V SOG operator, late 70's or late war. Mostly because i don't want to have to buy dog tags and a m1 helmet and name tapes and ranks because the more money saved the better, already around $800 for unifom stuff and $700 for a XM177 or a M16A1 and i'm wondering what should i get, M16A1 or XM177, i want to get one from SWIT Airsoft since they do upgrades so i don't have to, but what would you recomend, M16A1 or XM177 and should i buy stuff from SWIT Airsoft

    Well, see you again. Eventually life gets boring and mundane to a point where you need a hobby to waste your money on. Remeber theres only smoking meats or getting heavy into WW2/ Vietnam re enactment as you get older.

    While your collection of TA-50 is admirable, we did carry all that stuff. You only carried what you actually needed. It was too freakin' hot to lug that crap through the deep grass and bamboo.

  • @dw7094
    @dw7094 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Nobody put all that crap on their helmet, and certainly didn't carry all that stuff on a patrol. No need for a church key in the bush, a P-38 on your dog tag chain was all that was needed. Bug juice was green and was carried on the helmet for quick access to remove leeches. The Ace of Spades card was black. It was the symbol of death. Smokes were not carried in the camo band unless you wanted crushed cigarettes

  • @ramsesosirus
    @ramsesosirus 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I bought an exact pair of those Koren made ones before I knew how to spot the originals ($10 on Poshmark), they're not bad- better than the Rothcos I had before. As far as I know the ways to tell the authentic from the repops: the leather strip that holds the laces is one piece down to the sole on the real ones at the "V", it's 2 pieces on the repops. Also, the sole markings almost always say RO Search, Genesco, CIC, Bata, JE Diamond on the real ones. Repops rarely say RO Search, but some of the well-made repops do have it. The 1" heel stitch is on the late 60's real boots, no stitch on repops on the heel. The ankle straps are closer to the back on the real boots, creating more of a "square" on the sides while the repops' strap is further up, creating more of a rectangle. You can still find new late '60's real ones at some online surplus stores in narrow sizes, and they aren't bad if you use a stretcher or big shoe tree in them. A slim foam insole instead of the mesh insole adds a tad more room as well.

    More weight in water than all the other gear. This seems like what a new Marine just getting in country would think to bring. Know how many canteens we were issued in the Army in 2006 for Afghanistan?... One. Just one. We never used them we all had camelbaks. If we saw someone with more than 2 canteens we'd probably make fun of em.
