Space Engineers - Automatic LCDs 2 Basics Guide

- This is guide explaining the most important basics of my script for Space Engineers - Automatic LCDs 2.
It's cut in TH-cam editor after the requirement for timer was removed - so there are some ugly cuts here and there. Ignore any mention of timer - it's not needed anymore.
Some changes in the game since the video was made:
IMPORTANT: In order to be able to use in-game scripts you need to enable Experimental mode in game and enable in-game scripts in your world settings.
1. After clicking EDIT on the Programmable block the button is now called "Browse Scripts".
2. After selecting Automatic LCDs2 The "OK" button is now "Copy to Editor".
3. In the code editor you then only need to click "Check Code" and after that "OK"

I can see in the comments that people are having audio desync issues - I've heard that watching it directly on TH-cam helps, but not for everyone. If you've got some recommendation how to fix the audio desync for people - please let us know.
As far as I know I can't do anything about the audio desync. The video is 5 years old and worked fine until recently.
Even today I can watch it without seeing / hearing any desync in firefox browser.

I have the same problem but is fine on my app on the phone
I was having issues on Chrome last night at my home PC, but here at work I use Edge and it has loaded correctly.
When I changed the video quality manually, it resync'd the audio.
This is the correct fix. Thanks for the tip man.

I've been playing vanilla Space Engineers for a few months now. After getting the basics down I've gone onto the workshop to add to the game experience. This is a MUST HAVE script that I look forward to programming in my world. Thank you very much for making this item.

Thanks for this wonderful tutorial. Perfectly understandable, and om not even native English speaker.
Just some notes on the start (since Space Engineers was updated);

My tips however have become obsolete as many changes happened during.

I tried reading your guide but it was too much. This video has definitely helped me in understanding what I need to look for.
This script is brilliant. Thank you very much for sharing it with us and providing a very useful tutorial as well as the incredibly detailed written instructions.
This programme is far superior to TIM. Don't get me wrong, TIM is a fine tool for managing inventories, as it is meant to do, but it is limited in its capabilities when it comes to displaying information on LCDs.
Whereas this programmes sole purpose is to provide information via LCDs and as such its abilities appear to be almost boundless.
Although I found the learning curve to be quite steep, it was thankfully not too high. Once the fundamentals were grasped, the rest fell into place. I hope that the developers see their way to incorporating this into the game.

Please consider doing a whole new video on this. After seeing this script on a friend's base I decided to try and add it to my new gameplay. I am trying to get it running on my base BUT due to the audio sync issue and the text comments not being clear all I can get on my LCDs for the base is "Booting up". The Programable block and timer block go in a cycle of turning off when you turn on the other. Thanks so much again for the work and the efforts.
This works great! My only issue is that everything is jammed together... I am actively searching for a way to add a SPACE between the the lines on the screen? Top notch job with this! Your English is fantastic! I'm old and half deaf and I understand you very well! Keep up the good work!

My question was how to show a single item in my containers (since i built an ice mining station and just want to see how much ice I have) but I was having trouble. Answer was at 18:05. "InvListX {G:Containers} +ice" I had to add the group for some reason. I couldn't just look up +ice. TMYK!

you can also use run with default argument instead of run inside of the timer block.
Yes, but only if you have empty argument written in prog block control panel. If you set up timer to run PB with default argument it will use the argument that is written there. So if you would add any text there it would stop working.
After 1800 hours in space engineers...I've decided to try out a script. Let's see how badly I screw this up.
I’ve only played for 1/6 of that time, but I empathize - I’ve always felt dumb looking at the programmable block, and I wanted to do everything by hand, so I avoided it like the plague. I’m excited to learn though! Good luck on your new adventure 😎🚀

Can you do an update to the video for this script?
It is more than 3 years since you made this video and I can't really find any updated video of this script.
No I do not plan to upload new video - everything explained here still works as far as I know. The game changed a bit but I think its still understandable how to use the script from this video. This is just for understanding basics - you should read the written guide if you want to use all features of the script (link in description).
This doesn't load on my dedicated server, please help. I have scripts on, im admined, ive tried everything from re downloading it to downloading it, im subscribed, i have the [LCD] on it, i've reloaded the server, ive tried it in offline mode, when i place the programmable block there is no option for me to "edit" it only says edit text and says that lcds2 isnt working., but it works on my single player game.

This is a great Script. I have some bug though that bugs the script UI window so none of the buttons work. Only ALT-F4 allows me to quit the game. I am going through my mods one by one to see which one could be doing it. It is very time consuming.
it's funny i wasn't sure if the second version was a design of yours i also used your first version witch worked great thought i'd try the v2

you do not need the timer block. it works fine with out .
When I open the terminal for the programmable block, there is no edit button.
I can't shows running any scrip.
In 1:48, when I pressed "Browse Workshop", nothing happens. and that bottom keep light.

Is it me of the audio is not synched with what he do on screen? Hard to follow in that case.

when I use +ore it acts like it cant see the custom data... only shows default inventory.. if I type Inventory +ore +ingot it only shows the Ingot summary. ? Tried some others.. such as Inventory +component +gas +ammo it seems.. one of the options is always ignored.. I can rearrange them to get atleast two of them to show up...

This was the very first script I had installed, using your video it was a breeze and worked flawlessly!!!! Now, I also want to run TIM (Taledin's Inventory Manager) I am at a loss. Do I need Timer & Programmable Blocks for each script I want to run? I have been wading through walls of text and irrelevant TH-cam Videos for the past 2 days in an attempt to figure out HOW to run more than on script... I love this one, but also Love the functionality of TIM... 120 hours into a Survival (Lone Survivor) game atm... any help would be most appreciated!
Man, I love this script but I am feeling so dumb right now. Last time I played, I knew exactly how to make the displays work as I want, but somehow this time round I can't wrap my head around the guide. It's just not making sense, and I can't figure out how to set up a display showing inventory of just ores and ingots. Bet when I figure it out finally, I'm gonna feel even stupider
So much has changed in initial setup do you mind to make a short update or maybe call your community to create a short one?
Is it just me or is the audio definitely not in sync with what's happening on the screen after a few minutes?
at 9:20 mins you can see both ingot and ore calculated. but on my lcd screen only ingots are calculated. even when i do +ore, it doesnt read the ore in my base
