Just bought the C3 based on your (and others') review. I was astonished by the speed, comfort and build quality! Used a Hario hand grinder before and I literally said "No way, you're kidding!" out loud after the first grind, because it was done grinding so quickly. I use it for pour over mainly, not espresso. Really happy I went for this one, and not a cheap electric grinder (loud, ugly, quickly dirty). Can recommend it to anyone!
I just bought a Timemore ESP and absolutely love it. It’s currently set to 21 clicks and makes beautifully uniform espresso grounds. Excellent grip, butter smooth movement, high quality components, and grinds quickly and easily.
For those grinding for espresso, its definitely worth upgrading to the Timemore ESP for the upgraded construction and more importantly, getting the finer E & B grind burr that cuts the grind time to about half the time compared to the C3. Grinding 10g of fine espresso grounds on 21 clicks takes me ~19 seconds on average. I paid $119 for the ESP and feel that it was definitely worth the money and produces grinds comparable to $350-$400 electric grinders.
i bought one of these to upgrade from my $15 pos. ive been super happy with it. dont have much to compare it too but i love it. i also use an aeropress if that matters
I bought one based on your recommendation on the C2 and I've been really happy with it as an upgrade from Hario Skerton Pro. Kinda dissapointed that the new burrs, weren't that much of an upgrade. I guess the extra blade reduces the amount of beans that can be ground simultaneously. Maybe that contributes to the better uniformity like how grinding slower or even bean by bean results in better uniformity. Another thing I wondered about was whether or not this new burr set would choke or jerk less? I find that the most unpleasant thing about the Skerton Pro was how it kept doing so. I believe this is an aspect that is being overlooked on the reviews, as to me it heavily affects the enjoyability of actually using the grinder.
@@coffeechronicler thank you! i mostly do espresso and moka pot. So the C3 burr is a lot faster for that? is it possible to purchase and install the burr for the C3 onto the C2?
Thank you for the review! A question: In your opinion, which manual grinder (regardless of price) is best suited for extra-fine grinding required for Turkish-style coffee? Thank you.
Have you tried the Chestnut X? you mentioned that the s2c burrs in the C3 are different, curious how different and if you like the flavor profile from the X. Couldn't find a review on your site.
From some other youtuber reviews, the Normcore V2 has better particle distribution compared to the C2 and produce a little less fines, in the other hand the C3 also better in particle distribution compared to the C2, but produce a little bit more fines.
One cause could be that the adjustment wheel at the bottom is locked too tight. Or perhaps the wrong order of assembly, so something is blocking it inside.
Considering moka pot and espresso only, would there be a noticeable difference between timemore C3 and Comandante? I heard Comandante doesn't shine in espresso
@@coffeechronicler Thank you! But is it’s triple in quality or just a touch? I really can invest in either one but I try to spend my money wisely with a good enough result ;)

Interesting, I have a JX Pro as my main hand grinder, but thinking of building a travel set up. Was thinking to pick up the 1zpresso q2 or The Timemore Nano but thought that for the performance these 2 might be a bit too pricey for a travel grinder. Would you recommend the C3 as opposed to say the Slim? As judging from the pictures the Slim and the C series seem to have similar dimension? Also for something like the Picopresso, is the C3 good enough? Or should I just Use something like an aeropress + Fellow prismo instead? Thanks! Lovely videos.
@@coffeechronicler Thanks for replying! Would you recommend The C3 over the Slim for travel? Which do you think is better for travel & picopresso? Judging by how you have used the 2 models.
@@Raditram The Slim is a bit lighter than the C3 and feels more nimble, so would probably pick that one. Think I also like the espresso from it a bit more.

What do you think of X Lite? Some guys on Korean coffee community website say X Lite is the best grinder for filter on the market right now(it can compete with commandante or Kinu and whatnot) . I believe the main difference with c3 is the burr diameter, so I'm a bit surprised about x Lite being way better than C3.
I think that might be an exaggeration, but it should be quite consistent, even more than Chestnut X. The main downside is that it's supposed to be incredibly slow for grinding filter coffee.
Japanese coffee reviewers also say that X lite produces surprisingly less fines and it's the best grinder. But the reviews they do is a bit questionable.

C3 used the S2C burr (the similar burr they used on their flagship model Timemore X) but scaled down with smaller grind range settings and C2's style plastic central Shaft in order to reduce cost and weight. It looks a bit different than Timemore Slim's E&B burr but I read the performance was somewhat close to it.
I am looking for my first upgrade from a Hario Skerton for 100 Euro max. It should fit 30g and I exclusively do filter coffee, so no need for it to manage espresso grinding. Which grinder do you recommend?

I really like my C2 too, but if I were to upgrade I would probably get the k-max. Although it is far more expensive, the difference will likely be more noticeable (both in taste and usability) than the JX. Seems like if you are looking to upgrade you might as well bite the bullet and buy once, instead of buying another one once you think the JX is not cutting it any more. I am sticking with my C2 for the next few years at least, it does the job for me. Incremental upgrades are not worth it for most people imho. Enjoy what you have. There will be something new along next year too.

For paper filter, any recommendations for the "click" level? Thanks for the review. It helps a lot
I think on the adjustment wheel it suggests 12-14 for pour over if that's what you mean.
Bro, when the grinder arrives, do we have to wash it before using it for the first time?
No, that will harm the grinder. Run a bag of old coffee through it, that will "clean" it.

The C3 is slower than the C2, but faster for espresso grind? Did I understand right? Sounds contradictory.
Sounds weird, but yes. It's due to the burr design of C2 not being able to feed well when inner cone and outer burr are close together.
