If I spent $20k on stuff, I’m driving…. Mileage, Hotel & fuel costs irrelevant even though it may be $500~750, I’m inspecting and collecting, forget some chump packaging it up as it’s the agent depot… I’d even wait an extra 2 weeks for delivery and get a routed Shipley dude to carry it..
With UPS, the large and/or heavy packages load last and receive better handling overall. I do agree though, that was an overkill cost for one package. Especially packed the way it was. I did specialty packing at UPS and that would not have cheap but no more than $200 at the most.
I won one of the auctions, settled the payment when I received the invoice, and replied the email saying I need shipping. No updates ever since… called and left voicemails, no responses…
Wow the UPS big box gamble paid off with the awesome "Auction 4", congrats! I suspect a few of those control knobs got pressed down a bit, at least without any cracking. Glad no headstock/heel breaks. Looking forward to deep dives on those beauties.
What a haul?!!! all those guitars and parts appear to be fantastic. the shipping was definitely enough to make a person nervous, but you lucked out. it seems that all the UPS employees that handled them were careful. I wish I had the same luck as you do finding TP6 tailpieces? the Angus Young and the Lavender one were my favorites.
This was a FUN episode Trogly! Loved your laughter and enthusiasm etc when you were wondering if you were going to win the auction after you felt you might have overbid etc! My two faves were the Lavender sparkle Les Paul and Angus Young SG. The music river ? Les Paul was a "meh" one for me I will eagerly watch the video on it and can't wait to see how it cleans up, the same with the frets and stuff on that Angus Young SG. Great episode and congrats on all your new purchases!
Dude your new old stock parts in the packages ZAPS me back to all of those years I went looking at stuff in the music stores with my dad all those years ago in the 80s and 90s For sure.
2:49 beauuuutiful finish! i don't always get why you like some of the guitars you pick up (because a lot look like them i guess?) but this is like nothing i've ever seen before and just wow.
TP-6 Adjustable Tailpieces are awesome! I have 3 Guitars with them installed on, Les Paul Custom Black Beauty, Explorer and SG Standard and they are so usefull for fine tuning on the fly. If you are a touring musician or do a ton of studio work they make string changes and fine tuning such a breeze. My Explorer never goes out of tune since I installed locking tuners and the TP-6. I am a very heavy handed rhythm player and strum fairly hard and it stays in tune for months. You can still find them in small Mom and Pops shops way cheaper than Gibson sells them online. I picked up my last one which is Gold for under 100.00.
Hey Austin’ abit late to this episode but so stoked for u getting those tail pieces! It’s that kind of thing that i love! Especially the old packaging! It’s so nostalgic and also it’s just so rad that it’s the old authentic packaging aswell’ if only we all had an unlimited budget 😂’ big love once again from New Zealand’ u should c the amount of crazy guitars over here that arrived back in the day’ it would blow your mind! And hey’ what’s the point in having friends if they can’t help each other out? U have a guy in Japan and now u have a fit in New Zealand and Australia if u need one! Its all for the cause ✌️🙌🎸🔥
I finally bought on Reverb and my purchase is listed as delayed with no expected delivery date. Also UPS, which used to be reliable. Lately, they are crap.
I've been finding USPS has been good. I always find UPS and FedEx guys wondering around my neighborhood looking like a Monte Python skit. USPS people have been here forever. They seem to be more conscientious and familiar than the corporate guys.
I just watched you unboxing the guitars. When you pulled out the Music Rising Les Paul guitar, I love that guitar. I know of another one in New Orleans. It is the one that Edge played and it is in a Guitar Center in New Orleans. I’ve asked many times just to hold it, they just said no. I live southwest of the city. So enjoy that piece of Louisiana history.
That Katrina guitar looks a lot like the faded Les Paul standard 50’s neck that they had in production at the time. Those were the best sounding. So heavy. Almost as sweet as the Slash “Jessica” Les Paul.
Yup, that is a great one! It is for sale if you're interested reverb.com/item/70564783-video-2008-gibson-les-paul-standard-1957-r7-reissue-lavender-sparkle?_aid=growsumo&gs_partner=Trogly
Wow,I'd be mad as a hornet discovering how badly those things were shipped! As I am one who has received a guitar from Trog,he does a Great job packing his guitars! This was a nerve-wracking but really fun episode!
As a carpenter and want to be - Luthier, I'm very close to finishing 2 guitars! 1 is a Tellie with a twist to it and a Strat that I never own one and I did it using my daughter's art she drew it to her design and the second one (I'd designed) is what I call the Teatar! It would be nice to share a picture of it someday. When all are built (14 of them) I'm planning to keep a few for me. Like my 5-string basses (3 of them), 1 of my 4 Les Paul's and the 1 Tellie I did most of my testing different circuits on it and learned what impressed me the most and my Teatar. I will build more of any of my builds, but to buy and of my first batch is not right for many reasons. One main reason is I cannot give support to first prototypes. Any 2nd handmade builds will be better to own then any prototypes, better since 2nd build will be made because I already made the mistakes and fix it to own from less or no mistakes from the original prototypes. I'm sure and seen other Luthier's builds and they just hide them. Not me. I'm freaking proud how and when I decided since 15 years ago, I started with buying hardwoods that I as a player that I'd would enjoy playing it. It took a long time after before I could start. I like the wood so much and it got hard to just start and cut. I also needed equipment. Like a tablesaw, bandsaw, a 22" drum sander, planing hand tools and the table planner. I built home, furniture, speaker cabinets with JBL's inside the 2 I use. I was gifted a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe Mod 3 and I got a Bugera T-50. The T-50 is my favorite. It pushes my biggest cab that I like playing, the Fender is cool to, but it’s a one 12" speaker or 2 10", I'd add a 2-way cross (JBL, SN-2) over and a Sansui tweeter and ported, it’s fun for me at 65 with 50 years of playing stringed instruments! Sorry to also poor health. Who knew doctors couldn't help when the disease is not profitable to help with premature generic disk disease. Keeps me hoping to keep my guitars. Good night!
I am never dissapointed when i watch your videos bro you always have amazing guitars and agreat deal of knowelage also i absolutletly feel in love you with that les paul elgant silver thats a amazing looking guitar espacially for gibson your so lucky enjoy your new gems brother keep on rocking dude!!
Considering the cost of shipping, flying out there, renting a car and driving the guitars home might have been cheaper, if you have the time of course.
I was think it’s kind of funny that that two-tone blue packaging for Gibson accessories from the 1980s looks like something from the late 1950s. Colors and the typography and everything…
Why don't you try doing one of those Dean Zalinski guitars Like is LA voche. Has a lot of cool? Sounds half the weight of the gifts in and a lot better finish check it out I hear that in a studio it will take the place of at least four guitars of different types
I was lucky enough to pickup that Martin John Mellencamp out of this auction. Absolutely exquisite guitar. I have owned quite a few nice Martin guitars in my life, and it sounds as amazing as any guitar I have ever heard. Drove up from LA to pick it up and got to see all those guitars stacked up in person. Quite impressive to say the least. Congrats on your new beauties!
Man, UPS recently shipped me a 10 pack of D'Addario strings, and the box the strings were in was pretty messed up. How does one do that? I'm upset because I bought them from Sweetwater but at least I got them.
You should try to talk to Gibson about them working with you to open the ultimate Gibson museum. You seem to have great ideas for what should be in a Gibson museum and you would make for the best curator they could ask for. With corporate help you could get the museum opened within the decade instead of hopefully within 20 years. Which seems like your current timeline.
We will see the last 3 guitars from my haul in the next unboxing episode!

1200 Bucks for a Box and Some Bubble Wrap! Stop being so nice Austin. Give em some shit, they deserve it!
7:55 - Mardi Gras, Purple , green and gold!
Please do a complete video on the cleanup of these guitars with before, and after contrasts!!
Please please please?
With the amount of shipping you do, you must have nerves of steel. I stress over every guitar I've been shipped.
You need to relax.
Good for you.
As if.

It was good for me, what about you..?? Did you prefer it lubed or raw but I know you liked it on the bottom….

The lavander sparkle was my favorite overall.
I recently did a cheap DIY job on an old Ibanez RG I had sitting around in a similar color.
Wow the UPS big box gamble paid off with the awesome "Auction 4", congrats! I suspect a few of those control knobs got pressed down a bit, at least without any cracking. Glad no headstock/heel breaks. Looking forward to deep dives on those beauties.
Lavender sparkle... I like....and the finger board..... that deserves some TLC.....😎
Yeah, those boxes came in cardboard sleeves like that. It helps preserve the inner box when they are stacked up for shipping or storage.
What a haul?!!! all those guitars and parts appear to be fantastic. the shipping was definitely enough to make a person nervous, but you lucked out. it seems that all the UPS employees that handled them were careful. That might be cool for someone to come up with - black frets.
Figure on the rosewood fretboard on the lavender sparkle LP is gorgeous! Congratulations!
Z is for an hour late. I love the SG.
Entertaining video this one. Really cheeky of them to charge you that huge shipping charge and then send it as one massive package.
Dude your new old stock parts in the packages ZAPS me back to all of those years I went looking at stuff in the music stores with my dad all those years ago in the 80s and 90s
For sure.

They were all cool. I liked the Music Rising one the most. Those old display boxes are awesome.

The silver streak Les Paul is so cool hopefully they all clean up nicely 👌
no it doesn’t
I finally bought on Reverb and my purchase is listed as delayed with no expected delivery date. Also UPS, which used to be reliable. Lately, they are crap.
Oooof. I just recently bought on reverb for 1st time and it went GREAT! I only got a set of pickups though...
I've been finding USPS has been good. I always find UPS and FedEx guys wondering around my neighborhood looking like a Monte Python skit. USPS people have been here forever. They seem to be more conscientious and familiar than the corporate guys.
I dunno Trog...I'd demand a $1000 refund
Shipping 4 guitars like that..
.$1200 for that one box...absurd...
You might be able to remove that corrosion from the selector switch nut by soaking it in vinegar, similar to old coins

Gorgeous lavender sparkle! That neck streak is bomb
That Katrina guitar looks a lot like the faded Les Paul standard 50’s neck that they had in production at the time. Those were the best sounding. So heavy. Almost as sweet as the Slash “Jessica” Les Paul.
So what is the yellow discoloration on the tuners of the lavender sparkle LP? That really stuck out to me. Just curious.
$300 per guitar in that ONE box. ABSURD.
6:14 woah i've never seen a lavender sparkle before! and i love the streaked fretboard too. :]
Yup, that is a great one! It is for sale if you're interested reverb.com/item/70564783-video-2008-gibson-les-paul-standard-1957-r7-reissue-lavender-sparkle?_aid=growsumo&gs_partner=Trogly

Love those TP-6 tailpieces. Like a top hat on a tuxedo.
Those knobs on that silver guitar though.
that lavender custom made my jaw drop omg it's so pretty
Awesome, I was bidding on some of those too. I got the G&L Tele.
That packaging is definitely not cool, and I think they kind of R@ped you on the price per Guitar, for real!! you should pursue that...
I have actually used a tp6 tailpiece to counter neck dive. It worked.

The cardboard sleeve are in fact how they arrived ay the shop I worked at when I was a kid.
Dig the Silver flow and Music Rising
I am never dissapointed when i watch your videos bro you always have amazing guitars and agreat deal of knowelage also i absolutletly feel in love you with that les paul elgant silver thats a amazing looking guitar espacially for gibson your so lucky enjoy your new gems brother keep on rocking dude!!
Always sad when a hoarder has good intentions but damages everything they collect.
It's simply....
Alot of money....
Alot of laziness........
And.....
Alot of neglect.....
@@markbaum9615 What's an alot?
Lavender sparkle case needs some tlc though, that thing has been sitting with some moisture.
I am.. beyond jealous of those guitars. Even the sg. I'm not an sg guy but the fretboard looks gorgeous and the perfect size
The lavender sparkle Les Paul has a Madagascar rosewood fretboard
Considering the cost of shipping, flying out there, renting a car and driving the guitars home might have been cheaper, if you have the time of course.
...you were more excited about the cardboard boxes the tailpieces came in than the guitars :DDD
I was think it’s kind of funny that that two-tone blue packaging for Gibson accessories from the 1980s looks like something from the late 1950s. Colors and the typography and everything…
Woot woot Trogly's guitars 🎸 🙌
Wow that fretboard really does make the difference! I'll be watching for it in your store.
it's Madagascar rosewood
That silver flow elegant is beautiful. Well done sir.
What do you use for fret treatment and guitar polish?
Agufish got burned by an ebay seller on his birthday les paul. Bad headstock repair and a refret job from hell every other fret uneven.
Why don't you try doing one of those Dean Zalinski guitars Like is LA voche. Has a lot of cool? Sounds half the weight of the gifts in and a lot better finish check it out I hear that in a studio it will take the place of at least four guitars of different types
Very cool! You should do a detailed cleaning of those guitars.
The silver flow lp needs silver or black knobs.
Yup like that silver flow one.
Hey Trog ! Can you do a quick Diddy on say like a Fender Jagstang ? Or maybe a Rick 325 ? 😊 Thanks..
On the "Music Rising" one, are you sure it’s not supposed to look like it’s been through a flood with patina on the frets and switch ring?
It’s not. It is only supposed to look like someone slapped some paint on it haphazardly
@@Trog I thought the patina on the switch ring looked good.
Love the lavender sparkle 😊
UPS is way better than FedEx in my area of the country but that doesn't mean they don't still suck!
That silver is sick!
Cannot wait to see them after you apply a little elbow grease to them. 💪💪👍👍😂😂
i would LOOOOOOVE to see an episode where you took one of your player guitars and completely hot-rodded it to your favorite specs...
That silver les Paul is really cool!!
Looking forward to seeing him unbox the next three!
I think Trogly is teasing us with that last image!!! I think he bought the union jack Explorer from that auction!!!
9:32 - Good lord almighty, were those guitars stored outside on the deck of a ship out at sea?
Amazing collection 🤘👍🤓👏🎼
Sweetwater is great! Troggys new horde of guitars has arrived intact.
Wait, so you paid $300 shipping for each guitar? And they jammed them all in one box? Thankfully they all arrived safely .
The silver flo is cool
Silver Flo is Amazing!
My dream guitar is an angus young sg I wish I had one.
Hey all!
Please do a review on firefly guitars!
I was lucky enough to pickup that Martin John Mellencamp out of this auction. Absolutely exquisite guitar. I sent you a email about Music Rising LP #72 a couple months ago.. Cool LPs
glad all your shipping intrique came to goodness
Ooh I like those music rising Les Paul’s
It's not overbidding if you really really really want it
UPS owes you a big apology.
UPS is shit, but it's the seller that did that.
Agreed
Silver Elegant looks like silver glaze
Love silver guitar buddy ❤️💯
My TP 6 came in the. Blue box
Several Extra Thousands ,,,, for a paint job ? Basically ,,,,,
KEEP IT
Gibson accessories game is on point my dude
USA Jackson’s have a weird smell in the case which is weird
Side-by-side Angus signature SG comparo PLEASE!!!
ive never been so hyped for a trogly video
I would have had a mild heart attack seeing that huge box turn up knowing how much it had cost ,,,cool guitars tho , great episode
I'm not generally one who names my guitars, but if I had that lavender sparkle one I'd have to name it Darling Nikki.
