dont forget to remove the back left tire and open the rear hatch to get access to all the crack that they were obviously smoking when they made this video..
At 13:35 and probably a few minutes before you get to see instructions for the thermostat housing, however, he removes it, changes the o-ring, but does not actually show you how to replace the thermostat.
Step 1. Take out the back seats? You can't convince me that the dealer does this. I don't believe they do most of this senseless crap. This seems like a video made specifically to either get gullible people in over their heads, or scare them into running straight to the nearest dealership.
Is it my imagination or did this video never get to replacing a thermostat? I can see the thermostat housing from the top of my engine just under the hood. Is it necessary to dismantle the entire vehicle including taking out the entire back seat to get to the Engine coolant thermostat housing assembly? I'm confused? Why can't you just remove the airbox from the top of the engine and pull out the thermostat from there?
Okay I am a do-it-yourselfer I've repaired placed many of things my biggest problem with this whole entire strange is getting that lower right back bolt out that's the hardest one
Strange I have the Haynes Jeep Cherokee 2014 to 2019 manual and 80% of this video is not included in the manual instructions. So why is all this stuff included in their video? Replacement is still a pain but not as hard or involved as this makes it out to be.
1. Disassemble entire car. 2. That last part left is your thermostat. Simply remove and replace. 3. Reassemble entire car in reverse order. 4. Proceed to Ford and buy an Edge.
I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee limited and I swear before God I will never buy another jeep. I'm going Yukon or Denali this year Selling my contraption called a jeep lol
You can get at all fifteen other bolts with a ratchet and socket from a handy position. Bolt number 16 you have to take the engine out and buy special tool for. All this for ONE bolt .. seriously.
GUUUUUUMP WHY DID YOU DISASSEMBLE THAT JEEP SO QUICKLY? cause the video told me That is a new company record if you wasn't such a idiot for watching the video you could be the mechanic of the year now disassemble and do it again.
Don't forget to take your neighbors car apart before step 98765. Then go down to the warehouse apply for a job get hired work on the assembly line become a machinist then you want to get your birth certificate melt it into the Jeep dealership but don't forget to get notarized......
I thought the Haynes Manual was a respected name in diy automotive repair. The misinformation contained in this video has made me lose all respect for Haynes Manual.
This is truly, absolutely shameful on the part of Jeep!! It's so laughable that I sent it to a bunch of people who were considering a Jeep product. I believe when they put out this model in 2014 they knew that years down the line they would make millions in problems with the KL. This should be two screws, a new gasket done!! Well...if you own one of these with the PTU problems, 4 WD engaging troubles, etc. not being covered as the factory defects they are 😡 ... enough said
Owning a jeep is the ultimate stupidity test in America! They are bending you over and giving you the old grand-dad pickle just to replace a thermostat!!!! It takes MAYBE 30 minutes in other cars but not jeep! Just disassemble the entire car to replace a common part that goes bad eventually, lol. I guess some people have more money than brains.
@@NeverDoubtMe23 not lucky. This is the 2nd year it has failed. So, $600 in Jan 2021. $600 in Feb 2022. I was telling myself not to trade this thing off... new car payment versus $600 to decent local mechanic yearly?
“Proceed to disassemble entire vehicle”
😂😂

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
anybody know at what point of this video does he get to the thermostat?
Got quoted $800 by the dealer and $425 from a couple shops for this job. Absolutely insane for a $30 thermostat!!!!!
Not really, considering everything that goes into running shop.
I’m here because I got quoted $900 by the dealer 😂 I’m more of a DIY person but this seems like a puzzle I don’t wanna get involved with
I don't know what to say. A part that commonly needs to be replaced and this is what is involved. This is an attack on Jeep owners by Jeep.
Absolutely 1000% !!!
You can't pull the fuel pump relay to disable the pump and relieve the pressure?
I bought the Hanes book for this model. Most vague book ever. Thanks for ripping me off.
I believe it is faster to replace the engine
It is...or do a rotisserie overhaul
I thought this was a joke. I think I’d rather by a new vehicle
@@swanny1976 no crap!! Half this stuff has to be unnecessary
It is a sad joke. To remove the radiator they want you to even remove the front bumper!
I seriously thought I was getting punked at first.
No... unfortunately the nightmare is real

Wow dude like just why
I feel like I got mechanically dumber from watching this

My husband and I have replaced the thermostat on our Mazda5. This looks insane. Disappointed.

oh thank friggin God!! cuz all this for just that...... nah
There’s a way way shorter way to do this I’ll be uploading to my channel soon
And?
What channel were you uploading that to because you never did especially not on yours you have nothing on yours
Ayo where the vid at?
Take out the battery and vacuum pump bam direct access to the thermostat

Absolutely!!
did anyone else break all three bolts on housing?

They left out the part about crashing the vehicle and just settling with insurance company. It would be easier…..
Yes, that is the best option
Adding coolant 25:10
No need to remove any of those stuff. Did it in 45min
So where’s your video at
Hey bro please give us a step by step of how you did it PLEASE
This doesn't evan match what is in your manual! And what about the 3.2L engine?
That’s what I wanna know
Why does the title say , how to change the thermostat 🤷
This is crazy things to think about when buying a new car.
These comments are killing me
I have a Jeep Grand Cherokee limited and I swear before God I will never buy another jeep. I'm going Yukon or Denali this year
Selling my contraption called a jeep lol
Smartest move! These KL models are the neverending nightmare!
Is it me...they didn't replace the thermostat, just reset the gasket?
That's what I thought
Hi I'm for the thermostat
Has anyone seen my 10mm socket?
Too just change a thermostat. A little extreme don’t you think?
Too much extra work. Why take off the intake manifold? I don’t get it. OH! I get it now. That’s why it costs over $600 at dealership to do this job.
Bingo! I am sure they don't do half that stuff, but are definitely charging you for it!
Watching this because my thermostat is stuck open. So you legit have to take apart the entire car to replace a Little thermostat? 😂
same
You can get at all fifteen other bolts with a ratchet and socket from a handy position. Bolt number 16 you have to take the engine out and buy special tool for.
All this for ONE bolt .. seriously.
Sad but true! They wanted only dealerships to work on this model...or people who don't work and have the many hours to waste!! Shameful!!
Why the heck is he taking all that apart just to do the thermostat. Like this mechanic has ocd.
Don't forget to take out the spare tire too
WTF is this? Only need to remove computer, battery ant the vacuum pump. It's a tight fit but doable.
Thanks for this!!!! Someone who is STRAIGHT to the point.
When did he stop for lunch or a tea break 😅
Yeah I’m just take to shop that just to much
That was the idea they had in mind
This is crazy I’m done with jeeps
You got to be kidding me, all that work just to replace the thermostat? Unreal!
This is funny
Why does he make it loook so hard it’s not this difficult these ppl are stupid taking all that off
Jeep...JUST EMPTY EVERY POCKET!
ERRM I'm NOT AN AIRCRAFT MECHANIC, but if could do this I'm pretty sure I could be.😀
Im not even halfway through video and the jeep is already disassembled.
Looks like I'm wearing a sweatshirt
