This was very helpful for someone unfamiliar with Lionel Command Control to get started with a Base3. I was trying to connect a Lionel GP9 TMCC locomotive the other day but had some problems getting it to run properly. It might be the locomotive, however, because I bought it used off eBay. Either that, or the type of power supply I'm using. It runs fine on conventional power, but when I try with the Base3/Cab3 it pulses as it goes down the track and acts like it's hitting shorts in the track. Question: Can a Powerhouse Brick be used to power the track without a Power Commander module? From pics I've it doesn't seem that way, but I feel like I'd be buying a whole TMCC system if I bought those two items. I'm currently using an MTH Z1000 to power the track. 🤷🏻♂️
WHOA whoa WHOAA.... You can just... hook up the Base 3 through the B or C post on an old ZW, set it to 18 V for constant power, and still run your friggin... conventional old stuff on like the A and D posts or whatever??? Like... no PowerMaster needed or anything??? Just curious, because as someone with just an old ZW and two track loops and all conventional engines etc., I'm thinking that I can literaly just get a Base 3 at some point, and I'm all set to run literally everything from Postwar to TMCC to Lion Chief and Legacy... yea?
