In this video I go over a drill on how to improve your hand speed and fluidity in your combinations. The key to the drill is to work dexterity in each shoulder by punching repeatedly at different angles on the same side. I really appreciate these videos! Man, I thought I was a good boxer until I stepped into a sparring match with someone that actually knew what they were doing. I got so discouraged when I realized I wasn't nearly as good as I thought I was. Your videos are a light in a dark tunnel, man! I love this sport, and want nothing more than to get better at this sport, so I can feel confident in competition, one day! God Bless
I appreciate you taking some time to make this video . Too many fighters missing that fluidity nowadays . Hope you keep going, I'm gonna start working on some new videos to educate the masses in an improved setting . I hope we get the chance to train together at some point thank you for your time.
Great stuff. You explain everything so well. Not just telling us what to do like an instruction manual. But giving the reason for it all. Never feel like something is missing or need to re watch. Grate coach!
HEY GUY I'M RICHARD FROM COLOMBIA SOUTH AMERICA " STATE OF THE ART VIDEO", MAN, SIMPLY AMAZING, I'VE WATCHED MANY OF YOUR VIDEOS , AND I GOTTA SAY, YOU'RE THE MAN, I'VE LEARNED A LOT.... CONGRATULATION REAL GREAT VIDEO
I've been learning so much from this dude I've watched alot of his videos for beginners and much more it's really helping me I thank him for these tip and drills so helpful
This explains a lot. I watch a lot of current pro boxers (Canelo, Loma, Crawford, Spence Jr, Lopez, Tank, etc etc etc) and they all seem to be doing this real relaxed, ‘shoulder pop’ short movement when shadowing, not even breaking a sweat - usually during a media workout, or what looks to be a warm up/cool down. Then I see some of the same boxers fully extending, putting full power and movement as if they’re actually in the ring. I think it’s quite rare to see a pro show their full shadowing potential at a public workout etc so we’re used to seeing more relaxed warm up style shadow boxing and to me as a beginner I’m replicating more short relaxed movements as that’s all I saw.
You have the best videos for boxing training on YT .. I am practicing Wing Chun but your tips can be used for all martial arts .. Keep up with good work
I just won my first fight, i will prepare myself still, since national tournament is coming up this December and thanks a whole lot to you and my coach. I'll make it! ( I'm a guy using my GF TH-cam profile lol) love and respect to you from El Salvador.
Huge difference in combinations from just 2 days of shadow boxing like this for 2 rounds. It's now apart of my training for my upcoming Muay Thai fight. Thank you.
Hey, I usually shut up and train in my privacy, without absolutely nobody knowing. But - here's a big BUT - from doing this for a month or two I realized today that I went from throwing 1-2 punches in a second to 3-5. This shit right here is a monster. Big thanks and best regards from Germany, Sir!
...good. I don't like pulled punches though, even in drills. I practice following them through. And I try never to punch air if I can help it. Anyone can find an old mattress and put it against the wall. Learn to deal with the impact. Wear socks and train on the slipperiest floor possible. Learn to control your momentum.
Great video thank you for posting. I'm working on hand speed so I've been drilling on the speed bag and double ended rubber ball. This will be another routine for my arsenal.
i'm a multi-talented guy. i learn everything relatively quick and easy but boxing.. my be the biggest challenge i've faced in my 23 years lol. i grew up wrestling so this is entirely different but i like it. ik it wont be easy but boxing possibly can be the greatest thing you can get into. forces u to get into shape (if you're serious), learn how to defend yourself and you walk around with a new solid layer of confidence. anyone who is also new and getting discouraged please remember GOOD things DON'T come EASY
incarser101 ii still think hes unbeatable even in hes age in 4 rounds. the problem is due to age he is forced to fight in a slower pace or gass out. in 4 rounds he can be explosive still all the way through even 6 rounds to a degree.
Thanks a tone Jt ! l allways tried to do it with perfect technique.and l was so blocked.thanks to your videos I'm becoming boxer.thanks to you and Nate bower. I appreciate you both.grettings from Spain 🐂
I came up with a same-hand drill based on a marching band drumline warm up... It's called "8 on a hand", and on drums it'd be 8 right hand, 8 left hand, 7 right, 7 left....on down to a single right-left. And keeping a steady rhythm of course. In boxing, I do it in reverse order... one right, one left, two rights, two lefts........eight rights, eight lefts..... You really feel it working at 5-6 punches in a row! I prefer practicing this with a neutral stance, throwing jabs, straights, or even a sort of kung fu punch. Any other punch in a row, I find, will cause the bag to swing around too much.

Good drill. I'm going to try It with my beginner clients to help them loosen up.
He is a smart human. Sharp like a blade...my shoulders are too relaxed I have no umph in em.
...good.
I don't like pulled punches though, even in drills. I practice following them through.

AWSOME... I'm definitely going to work on this it's definitely something new and usable for me, and I'm sure anybody
Roy jones does the exact same thing when he shadow boxes.
+grapedrank666 and Loma too
Rjj actually has a video on something similar to this like the art of the left hook or something it's called
incarser101 Rjj aka captain hook.
Ryo hazuki captain hook don't play...in his prime
incarser101 ii still think hes unbeatable even in hes age in 4 rounds. the problem is due to age he is forced to fight in a slower pace or gass out. in 4 rounds he can be explosive still all the way through even 6 rounds to a degree.
Nice, I’m ready to get back to the basics 👊🏾👊🏾🙏🏾
Nice hard work out of boxing
Great vid mate, I have been having trouble with putting multiple shots together from the same side, I think this will really help me progress.
JT Van The Man
Dmitry bivol does the same thing before his fight. No wonder why his punches are so smooth in the ring.
