Hhahaha, That is so true! I cant even count the times ive been walking out from a mall or something, and got that minor panic attack when i cant see my car
if they were to replace the door shell from an accident, most likely the lock cylinder would still be intact and able to swap to a new handle. it cost more money to buy a new lock cylinder and key. I'm wondering if someone had, or had tried to break into the car and was going for the good ol screwdriver and hammer method. just a guess
Nah, it might be that they key is really slim and just breaks everytime, 1st week of owning a Miata and I'm already changing my ignition because half of the key got stuck there, so I will have a 1 for ignition, and the original 1 to open doors and trunk.
That 3-key thing is unique to your car--must've been re-keyed at some point prior to your ownership. Mine has a single key for all three locks and ignition.
Mine came with three keys (1994), one of which should be only for the doors and ignition and won't fit the glove box or arm rest. Meant to be used for parking valleys
I have an Alfa that came with 4 different keys one for each door glove box and the same key for the trunk and gas cap lock. Which should be one key for all. My daily has one key for everything.
I recently bought a 1990 Miata for $1,500. Runs great, manual transmission, 92,000 miles, B package, bright red original paint. Biggest issue is the clutch occasionally slipping. Might just be the best purchase of my life.
Jeff Zekas i got mine for 300 bucks. all it needs is a battery and tires. it still runs AMAZING. all it needed when i originally bought the car was spark plugs and a coil pack which i got both for 35 bucks. the car drives like its brand new and can be driven as is, just needs a jumpstart.
That sounds amazing and im wondering if i should buy a blue 1991 no knowledge on the pakage yet but 110k miles manual and soft top. It does have rust on the quarter panel and slight tearing on the roof. Hes asking 2900 but I'm going try to get it for 2k do you think this is worth it.
my first thought was I like you - you get it. I am on my 4th Miata. Two of them were 1997. I had an M edition which was my favorite. I bought it used so someone had added supercharger and set it up for a bit of street racing. my first 1997 was an STO and I fell in love with it on the test drive. I put 215k miles on it, a deer took it out. Top down on all 3 generations was always less noisy to me.
i just recently bought my 1994 miata and its my seconds and ive had so many faster cars like trans ams and mustangs but nothing has been as fun and i would rather own a mx5
2:30 That's not a problem with MX-5s... that's a problem with used vehicles. People break locks trying to break into the car... cheapest way to "fix" it is to buy a new lock with a new key.
I concur! Best car ever! Puts a smile on my face every time! I just changed the speakers in mine. Soooo easy and I’m a 60 year old female lol. I plan to do other things as well. Have fun with your new toy! :)
I bought my dad’s friend’s miata which was missing a lot of parts, and was sitting for 3 years but running for only $600. After putting it all together and all the hard work we put in it to the point where we bought coilovers, 15x8 wheels and 205 50 tires, and a GV style front lip, and that everything is mechanically sound, in total everything was about $2,000 only. And I get so many looks and head turns at stoplights hehe
literally the first point with going out the door seeing it and knowing that its mine is sooo true and i feel the same way everyday when i walk out and see it in my drive way :D just makes you smile :)
That feeling of just going to yoyr garage and looking at at and feel happy just because its yours... totally can relate its like a owners exclusive feeling XD
i just bought a 2017 ND club RF a few months ago. i hope it lasts 20+ years like this one. definitely, if you don't need to haul kids or a tuba around, it's got all the space you need. the ND's don't even have a standard glove box, but i don't miss it.
Great video. I currently have 5 Miata's and love them. Also it's not normal for the car to have 3 keys. Most have 2 and my 90 only has one key. I wonder if the driver's side door or lock was replaced. Keep up the good work!
Sorry, for the delayed response. When I got my first one a lot of my friends gave me a hard time until they drove it. Since then I have either sold or talk 3 or 4 of them into getting one.
Yes you are right, better gearbox you can only get at mazda RX-7/8 :-) "you get never any better" I have an I. gen RX-7 (1979) and THE GEARBOX is an absolute class.. Hat down mazda.
The noises you describe having with the top up sound like your soft top frame maybe loose or slightly warped... a hardtop will fix that, but speaking from experience, I rarely go driving topless any more after going hardtop just because it's a PITA to move mine around.. and I got the TCM Light weight hardtop, can't imagine moving the 40+lb OEM top by myself...
GenuineGeoff I'd say roughly 15lbs with the Lexan window & mounting street kit for said window.. but still not the easiest to move around when your arms barely extend to the width of the top... #LittlePeopleProblems

I'm now on my 3rd and I have still a small amount of squeaks but my worst one is the speedo "whine" noise. I haven't gotten around to switching the cable out for a new yet but once I do I think I'll be almost perfect!!
I bought a 1999 Miata NB 1.6. I do not need a car very often and I cycle to work anyway... so the car is almost only for the weekend. And I underestimated those tiny 110 HP, because the car really propels forward... I live in Western WIs and have a 1990 Miata with 17 inch low pro tires and wheels. I can't even think of driving it on ice or snow. I really love the car.
Robert Brunner so I shouldn't get this car? Cause I need a year long car I'm only 16 and can't be switching
if you keep the stock tires on (narrow) you should be ok.

How tall are you by chance. I am about 6"1 and I have been told that Miatas aren't suited for taller people...
Trayvon Banks I am 6 foot (that's 1.83 right?) and I fit in it, no problem. Drove along with a mate a couple of times and drove it myself once. It's pretty fun

If you are going to winter drive keep pop up headlights up, or they will freeze shut

Jake Sirlles Its a great little car. Wish it was more powerful (some hills you gotta get a running start) the roof is a pain to put down, but that might just be because its old. Just waiting to see if I can use it in the snow.
